“Yes. My turn.” Inuyasha closed his eyes painfully, “I was always ridiculed when I was little and even now, I'm made a joke. Jade gave me a way out.” He explained.

“What was the door?” Rin asked.

“Story Books.” his answer came, “She showed me a world where the impossible happened as reality. We would sit in the library and she would open up the doors to the land we both held dear. It was interesting....the day she revealed that secret world to me.” Kagome giggled excitedly.

“Ooh! I feel another story coming on!” Inuyasha laughed at her,

“Yes Kagome-san, another story.”

 

FLASHBACK

 

Jade carried a little book in her hands. “Where are you off to with that book little one?” Shesse asked her 8 year old sister. Jade turned around and looked at Shesse.

“Ojou-sama*, where's Inuyasha?”

“I don't know Jade-chan. Why are you looking for him?”

“Well, everyone needs someone right?” Shesse was confused by her little sister's remark.

“I suppose?”

“Inuyasha seems really sad and lonely lately. He must need someone too. I have a way to put hope back into his heart again. I know he's been made fun of a lot and I want to give him something he can hold onto.” She held up her book, “And thats what this is for. I'm going to read him stories from my picture books and maybe that will help him, like it helps me!” She giggled happily. Hugging her sister, she ran off in search of her Prince. She finally found him hiding in his mother's roses.

“Jade? Is that you?” He whimpered as he saw a bright green kimono come in front of the rose bush he was hiding in. A bright, laughing face popped into the bush.

“Ohayo...... Inu-chan!” the girl giggled, “come out of there! Its no fun sitting in a bush all alone!” Inuyasha smiled for the first time that month; just for Jade. He jumped out of the bush and tackled her down hugging her. She laughed. “Wow Inu-chan, that was quick! But its all for the better. I brought something to show you.” She got up and dusted herself off. Picking up the book she thrust it in front of Inuyasha, “Look!” He looked at it, but didn't know what it was she wanted to show him, all he saw was a dusty book.

“Its a dirty old book. So what?” Jade's ears dropped.

“I was excited to show it to you because it's got lotsa stories in it.” She said softly. Inuyasha felt bad. He had hurt is best friend's feelings. He took her hand.

“Sorry Jade-chan. I didn't mean it like that,” he tugged on her hand, “come on, lets go to my room and you can read your story book to me, ok?” Jade's face brightened again,

“Ok! Let's go!!!” He smiled again as she pulled him into the palace and dragged him down the hallways to his room. They ran past Sesshoumaru and nearly knocked him down, which made him even more upset than he already was. He was bleeding again, after a bad argument with his mother.** He clipped back a sob as he continued walking down the hallway, pulling his hair up into a ponytail atop his head, so the blood off his neck wouldn't get in his hair.

“God, I have to find Shesse......” He broke into a run, the laughter of the hanyou children fading into the distance behind him........

 

END FLASHBACK

 

“She read me so many stories. We read through the whole book.....twice.” He smirked, “Even then, she knew how horrible it was for me. She lived it. There was no other for me and I knew that. I know that. I will never choose any other. But now Kagome, you know why instead of an empty 'Go Away'. You two deserved those explanations. But now, it may be best for you to leave. Its up to you where you go.” Just as Inuyasha finished his statement, they all heard the sound of metal piercing flesh and a moan of pain as armor fell to the cobblestone ground. Rin sat up with a start,

“What was that?!?” The two Imperials looked at each other and then Shesse looked at a vile that was opened and empty on the floor next to Kagome.

“Oh no!” She yelled. She got up and immediately ran from the room.
