InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Life Begins With Love.........And Ends InTragedy ❯ Even in Death ( Chapter 12 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

I DON'T OWN INUYASHA

Inuyasha looked at the empty bottle on the ground. Then he looked around the room cautiously. Everyone still present in the room heard a faint whisper, “Little Brother.” Inuyasha jumped.
“D-did either of you hear that?”
“Yeah,” Rin replied shakily, “What was that?” Outside they could hear Sesshoumaru yell,
“Aradia-neesan!” All three people in the room leapt to their feet and ran out to the courtyard where a child who was dripping blood stood, facing Sesshoumaru with a look of death in her eyes.
“Hello little brother, its been many years, hasn't it?” She hissed in her ghastly voice. Sesshoumaru stood frozen to the spot.
“Neesan......how?” the child laughed cruelly, she pointed to Kagome.
“That girl. She knocked over the vile that mother sealed my body and soul into when she killed me. You had it easy Sessh, she never killed you. So, thats what I'm here to do for her.” Everyone's breath caught in their throats. She wanted to kill their master, husband, brother, and friend? This kid was messed. And why was he calling her “big sister”? She was a kid! Sesshoumaru blinked.
I had it easy? YOU DIED! YOU didn't have to suffer her ill treatment after that! She came after me every day to try it again Ara-chan. If I hadn't fallen in love, I think I may have killed myself! Just to make her leave me alone. I always wished your fate had been mine, or ours! I was afraid Aradia. I was afraid of death then, thats why I called for father and ran. I missed you Aradia. And never knowing how mother....well....you know...hid you from father, it hurt me.” The bloody girl stared viciously at her “little brother” who was now technically her older brother at the age of 30.
“So, you found love did you?” She looked over at Shesse, “Her?” She pointed a ghastly finger at Shesse. Shesse looked fearfully at the horrid sight in front of her. Sesshoumaru looked back at his wife with a look in his eyes as if he was saying to her,
“Don't worry Darling, she won't hurt you. I won't let her.” She smiled timidly at him. Turning back to his sister, he threatened her,
“I'll kill myself if you hurt her!” But what Aradia and no one else but Shesse knew was that Sesshoumaru's use of 'her' had a dual meaning. He meant his wife, OR his daughter, Hitomi.
“Do it then,” the girl threw a dagger at her brother, “Save me the trouble.” She then rushed at Shesse. When out of no where, a shot of blue light came flying from the palace steps. Aradia was blasted away from Shesse.
“Stay away from my sister!” Jade yelled as she ran and stood in front of Shesse. Aradia got up, even bloodier than before, if that was possible. She rushed at Sesshoumaru screaming,
“Die Brother!!!” Grabbing his hand that held the dagger within it and forcing him to plunge it into his heart. He stood fazed for a moment. His hand fell from the dagger's handle. He coughed and blood came out of his mouth. He looked at Aradia.
“I........hope.......you.......a-are........” He coughed blood again, “h-h-happy now.....Sister.” Then his eyes glazed over and he fell to the ground before the child's feet. Everyone that was standing in the courtyard stood in horror, looking at the child who, was standing blankly staring over her brother's dead body.
“Happy you say?” She whispered down at her brother, “Do you think Iwanted you.....to die?” Aradia's voice became less ghostly and more “human” and tearfully continued, “well little brother,” The voice becoming more womanly as the child grew into a 33 year old woman, the age that Aradia would be at this point, “That was never what I wanted for you. But now that you are dead, my soul can finally find its resting place, free of mother's spell.” The woman disappeared into thin air and a whisper was all that was left of her, “I love you, Sesshoumaru-kun.” Shesse began to cry, only yesterday (by now) had she been happily reunited with her husband and her daughter saw her father, and now he was gone. Inuyasha looked seriously at his brother's still form. He placed a hand on Shesse's shoulder saying,
“He's not dead yet. He's still got color in his face.” She ran forward and knelt down on the ground beside him.
“Sessh? Sessh?!” She shook him. He opened one of his eyes, blindly staring in no direction in particular,
“I love you Shesse. I have already.....said....good..bye to......the little............one.” And with that, all signs of life faded away from Sesshoumaru's face. He was dead, and his own sister had killed him. Inuyasha now ran to his dead brother,
“Sesshoumaru? SESSH! BROTHER!!!!” he shook the man violently, “No.......damn you Sesshoumaru!” He sobbed, “YOU CAN'T DIE!!! if you do, I'll.....I'll........ miss you................My brother........My.....Friend.” Shesse grabbed Inuyasha's sleeve and he took her into an embrace as the two of them wept over their husband, brother, and most importantly, their Lord. The clouds cleared and the rain was gone, bringing golden rays of sunshine to the courtyard, but all any of the people there could see was darkness and sorrow.

THE FOLLOWING DAY

“Mommy?” it was Hitomi, entering her mother's chambers. Shesse looked up at her daughter, a face so much like her father's. She was holding a note in her hand.
“Yes my little cherry blossom?” Shesse replied sadly.
“Mommy, where's Daddy? I have a letter from him, but I can't find him.”
“A letter sweetie? Come here, let Mama see it.” The child obeyed and handed the paper to her mother. It read,
“Hitomi, my big girl,
Your Papa has to go away now, he has work to do. But I'll see you again soon my dearest little daughter. One day, you will understand that your Mama and I love you so much that we would lay our lives down for you. Your Papa must do that now. I will see you soon again in Paradise. I love you my darling, good night.”
“He must have written this last night, knowing you were gone.” Shesse said softly, only audible enough for her daughter to hear it.
“What?” Hitomi asked. Her mother stood and took her hand and said,
“Come with me dear one, I need to show you something.”
“Ok Mama.” She followed her mother. Looking up at her she saw tears in her mother's eyes. “Mama, why are you crying?” When her mother stopped and didn't answer her, she looked forward and her eyes widened. She saw a coffin. “Mommy? Who's in that box?” Her mother led her over to it and she looked inside. “DADDY!” The four men digging a hole closed the lid and set it in the hole. She watched them fill the hole, she looked up at her mother,
“Mom, how come? Why are they burying Daddy? Who are those people? Why are they burying him? Why?” Her mother said nothing. She saw silver sleeves envelop her small frame and felt her mother lose her grip on her hand. Then she heard Inuyasha's voice in her ear,
“He's gone honey.” She turned around.
“They can't! I don't like it! Daddy said in his note that he had lots of work to do and if they bury him, he can't do it when he wakes up!” Her mother knelt down and wrapped her arms around her brother-in-law and daughter,
“Hitomi....” The girl continued to yell,
“Stop them Mommy! Stop them Uncle Inuyasha! Daddy needs to do his work! He told me! Why are you burying Daddy, Mommy? Why?” She broke away from both of them and stared down into the half filled hole and screamed, “DADDY WAKE UP!!!” Inuyasha's sleeves wrapped around her again and he picked her up,
“Come on Honey, your Mama needs to be by herself. Let's go play with Kagome-neesan, ne?” Her small arms wrapped around her Uncle's neck and she began to cry as she replied weakly,
“Ok.” Inuyasha turned around to look at Shesse, who was kneeling at her fallen husband's grave,
“Shesse, are you going to be alright?”
“I'll try to be. We've been through so much together. And now, I'm left to suffer alone Inu.”
“Sister, you are not alone.” Jade came out. “Inu-chan, take the princess away. I'll stay with her Majesty.” Inuyasha nodded and left with the child. Jade hugged her sister.
“Onee-chan,” She said soothingly, “You will meet again, soon. You will see. But for now, you have a child to rear and the humans have said they will remain. You are hardly alone.” Shesse sniffled.
“Yes, but......the only person who truly made me feel whole.......well, now.....he's....gone. For good. And I'll never see him again.” Jade hugged her sister tighter,
“You can't see him?” Shesse shook her head, “Then look around! All this, this garden, that village, those smiles on peoples faces, those were all brought to be by his hand. Look at the smiles on the children's faces. When he died all of the happiness in his heart spread to them. When he killed his mother, their hearts were lightened and he made it so they could prosper. He died for you, his daughter, and his people. He didn't fear death, and I think you should still be able to see him, even in death.”
