Chapter 10

Kagome had spent all afternoon with Rin and, to be honest, she was actually feeling rather guilty for what she was about to do. But she had and obligation to Inuaysha, to her family! She couldn't stay here and watch her. O' yeah that was a good excuse, Kagome thought sarcastically as she attempted to find something more suitable for running away in. Not finding anything except for more extravagant kimonos Kagome simply decided to leave now and make it before dawn. She had put Rin to bed about an hour ago and was waiting until she was positive that Sesshomaru was asleep, even though there was no way she could really tell. It had to be about midnight and Kagome was now walking through the garden getting ready to exit the main gate when she got there she saw that he erected a barrier but luckily for her Kaede had been teaching her more about taking down barriers. After about a half an hour of applying all the magic she could muster she manage to make a body sized hole in the barrier and slowly walked through it watching it close up behind her. Kagome turned and continued her journey through the forest and was immediately worried. The western lands was full of demons, she didn't feel any incredibly strong ones but with no weapons and little extension of her power left after the barrier she was getting nervous. Kagome tried to quell her fears, though she now could feel the demonic auras getting closer and closer to her. Kagome began to panic a light sickening feeling that started at the pit of her stomach and spread making her heart beat faster and her breathing slow. Causing her chest to ache at the uneven rate of her vital signs. Hearing a twig snap behind her Kagome whirled around and through her arms up letting a blast of purifying blue light shoot from her hands. The boar demon that had been ready to attack her now fled grasping his eyes in pain, but he was not the only one that meant to attack the priestess. Kagome trying to fend off as much as she can gave up and turned to run something that was probably the most stupid of her ideas. Kagome felt herself being tackled and bitten hard on the shoulder she felt claws rake down her back and teeth bite into her flesh. Kagome couldn't hold back, screaming in pain that she had never felt before Kagome blacked out her body drained of power and filled with fear.

 

 

Sesshomaru's ear twitched in the slightest of direction before he leapt into action, grabbing his sword he was over the wall of his gates and into the forest below. Though all the larger more threatening demons that had been in his forest had been taken care of there were still many weaker demons that posed no threat to him but to Kagome would be a monstrous task to defeat. Especially if they happen to attack together which they often did at the sight of food.

Inuyasha herd the earth shattering scream throwing him over the edge, screaming in rage his tired and sore body swung tetsiga with one more great sweep. The blade went a deep purple and brought down the barrier, without skipping a beat Inuyasha ran through the forest to get to Kagome.

 

 

The demon that kneeled over the priestess was now vary happy, licking the deep wounds that marred the women's flesh enjoying the taste of her pure blood. He heard a snap behind him and turned to see who the intruder was. Finding another priestess behind his back he turned happy that maybe he would get to have two meals today. Walking toward him was a women, he halted when from her hand came a blinding light that shot through him and incinerated his body the burning pain running through his body like hot oil before he no longer existed. Kikyo approached her reincarnation and looked down and her prone form, placing her hand above Kagome's back she slowly began pulling the soul from the body. After all to live as a full human she would need the rest of her soul.

 

 

"Kikyo!" Inuyasha screamed as he pushed her away from Kagome and against tree pinning her to her spot. He had not hurt her, he could tell by the smirk on her face.

 

 

"What are you doing Kikyo?"

 

 

"Taking back what's rightfully mine, for me to be a true person I need my soul" Inuyasha didn't say anything to her taking a deep breath his heart stopped as he smelt death permit the air around him, Kagome's death. Closing his eyes he opened them looking directly at Kikyo.

 

 

"Give her back her soul Kikyo" he icy voice was slightly alarming to the dead priestess. No he wouldn't hurt her, he loved her.

 

 

"But Inuyasha we would be able to be together" Inuaysha frowned at her. Panic rising in his throat at the idea of Kagome dyeing. I never got to tell her how I felt Inuyasha thought. Inuyasha heard a noise behind and saw Sesshomaru leaning over the women sniffing gently. Turning away from Kagome Inuyasha approached him.

 

 

"Bring her back Sesshomaru" Inuyasha said his voice stern. Sesshomaru regarded his brother with a disgusted look before picking up Kagome and turning away from him.

 

 

"What are you doing just bring her back!" Inuaysha shouted at his brother. Ounce again ignoring him Sesshomaru launched himself into the sky knowing that Inuyasha was following him.

 

 

Without a word said to Inuyasha Sesshomaru arrived at his castle Inuyasha trailing behind him a furious look on his face. Kagome was dead and she had long gone cold. Inuyasha felt sick to his stomach he wanted to kill Sesshomaru but, he knew he had a plan and wanted to know what that plan was before he did anything irrational. Sesshomaru walked into a great room that was located in the dungeon of his castle. Yes, there had been times where he had tortured demons and humans there but mainly it was used simply for training. Sesshomaru walked over to a stone table that was said to be where the first of the dog clan clamed the western lands as theirs, and laid Kagome down on the hard stone. This was a perfect opportunity to turn Kagome.

 

“Inuyasha if you want to save Kagome you will listen to my instructions carefully, and do exactly as I tell you” Sesshomaru stated not even Turing to see the half-demon reaction to his statement. Inuyasha eyes narrowed looking at Sesshomaru with hate, anger, and curiosity.

 

“Why?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“Kagome is part spirit, did you know that? Well, she is, part cat spirit thus she has the ability to become a demon” Inuyasha stood staring at his brother which must have looked rather ridicules to his brother. She can become demon? That means that she will live as long as I do, Inuyasha thought becoming more and more intrigued by the second.

 

 

"What do I need to do? Inuyasha asked. He was willing to do anything to save Kagome life, anything.

 

 

Inuyasha ran through forest thinking of what he needed to do. Sesshomaru said that he needed to find a sacrifice to take power from. This is how you created a half-demon. By combining the powers of a human and demon, this could be done in birth as it was for Inuyasha. But, I could also be done using magic. One of them would have to die, the sacrifice in this case would of course be the demon, Inuyasha had to find a female cat demon bring her to Sesshomaru and then Sesshomaru would handle the rest. Or so he said. Kagome soul had been stolen and Sesshomaru said that they would need a new one Inuyasha assumed that he would simply conjure one from the other world. He would simply have to wait and see what happened. Inuyasha was not stupid, he knew of this spell, his mother told him about it. His father had meant to turn Inuyasha's mother into a half-demon but he died before he had the chance. He would turn Kagome and then he would be able to live with her forever, or so he hoped.

 

 

Sesshomaru walked through the forest his breath steady and his cool gaze focusing on the now much alive Kikyo before him.

 

 

"What have you come for Sesshomaru?" Kikyo asked not turning face him. Without answering Sesshomaru leapt forward and attempted to slice through the women. Sesshomaru flew backward flipping back into the air and landing on his feet slightly kneeling. Kikyo was said to be the most powerful priestess sense midoriko but he was confident that he could defeat her.
