Life's Ironic

Chapter Two:

The Chase is On………

~*~*~*~*~

"I don't know guys, this is kind of weird, I mean, I always thought of Hojo-kun as more of a friend or brother………" Kagome trailed off, as she played with her hair, twisting it in her hands.

"Kagome, you've got to be kidding………" A teenage girl wined at her friend. She had short black hair and dark brown eyes, which currently were shining with big fake tears.

"Yuki-chan, of course she's kidding, Hojo-kun is the hottest guy in school, she couldn't possibly even consider turning down a date with him." Replied the girl who stood to the right of Yuki. She had shoulder length black hair, and light brown eyes. She put her hands on her hips and looked to Kagome to confirm what she had just said.

"Actually………" Kagome began, with a big sweat drop rolling down her head, "I don't really think I should." She finished, she was waiting for them to start bombarding her with questions.

"WHAT!" Yelled the girl to the left of Yuki. She was a bit taller than the rest of them, with long black hair that reached down past her waist tied up in a loose braid, and mahogany colored eyes, she looked much older than her friends, but didn't act it.

"Kagome-chan, why, he's perfect!" Nadeshiko told her as she dropped her school bag in shock.

"Well, that's a matter of opinion, and yes, he's cute, and nice, well mannered, athle-" Kagome started but was cut off by Ryoko who had grabbed her braid, and looked like she was about to pull it out in frustration.

"Cute, nice, and well mannered are the three understatements of the century Kagome-chan." She told her, the frustration obvious in her voice. Luckily for her hair she had decided to drop her hand back to her side hand clench her fists until finger nails almost broke the skin.

"Yeah, I totally agree," Started Nadeshiko as she ran a hand through her shoulder length hair in exasperation. "Hojo-kun's very hot, and handsome, he's the sweetest, romantic guy in the world, and he has such good manners that my mom would die from shock if she ever met him, you know she thinks no ones more well mannered than her." She finished letting out a sigh, and looked to Ryoko and Yuki for support.

"Yeah, I agree, you should say yes, you could answer him during……… Oh! Here he comes now, this is your chance Kagome-chan!" Yuki squealed excitedly as she, Nadeshiko and Ryoko began to push Kagome forward, toward Hojo.

"Why do I put myself through this?" Kagome asked her self as she was pushed further towards Hojo. "Where's Sango-chan when you need her?" She continued to ask herself pointlessly.

"Hello Higurashi-san, how are you?" Hojo asked her as her three `friends' slowly edged away, but not so fare that they couldn't hear them.

"So Hojo-kun, hi, I'm fine," She responded awkwardly. She began to twist her hands together, "Out of all the friends in the world I just had to have these three as friends," She thought as she continued to smile at Hojo politely.

"Higurashi-san, would you like to go to a movie with my on Sunday?" He asked, a small blush creeping onto his cheeks.

"Um………" She said slowly. She didn't know what to do, she liked Hojo as a friend, and she didn't want to hurt his feelings, she also didn't want her friends never ending questions as to why she didn't say yes, if she answered no.

"Well, okay Hojo-kun………" she trailed off uncertainly. She really didn't want to do this.

"Great, I'll pick you up at three, is that okay?" He asked her, smiling kindly.

"Yeah, that's fine," she replied, trying to seem enthusiastic.

"Okay, bye than," He said walking off in the direction of the school library.

As soon as he was gone Kagome found her self lost in her thoughts again. "I don't know how I got into this, I should have just said, sorry but I'm going to help my grandpa with the shrine on Sunday, or something. But no. You had to go and let your friends bug you enough to talk you into this. Where's Sango-chan when you need her? If she were here she would have made up some excuse for me like normal. Oh, come on Kagome you should have just made an excuse, that always works, well except when my grandpa told him that I had a case of hives and pneumonia. EWW!" She thought to her self, but was soon dragged out of her wondering thoughts by her friends who seemed to want an explanation any way.

"Alright Kagome-chan, don't think that we didn't see the look on your face, you didn't want to say yes, did you." It was a statement not a question. Yuki began her lecture with waving a finger in Kagome's face and frowning disapprovingly.

"Not only that, you just fake smiled, if you want him to like you, DON'T fake smile, he's not an idiot, I bet he could tell." Yuki scolded, her dark eyes shadowing in disappointment.

"But, I don't want him to like me, not that way………" Kagome said in a distant voice that matched her distant slate blue eyes. She was thinking again about her strange dream, and the mysterious man with the beautiful golden eyes.

"WHAT! WHY!" Ryoko demanded as her fists clenched together in frustration again. Ryoko had always had a short temper, but she was still a good friend.

"Because………" Kagome started, "Why, why didn't she want to go out with Hojo-kun, every girl does, he is the hottest, and (all but two said) smartest guy in school. He is kind, and cute, well mannered, and he would be good to me……… demo that's not every thing, but what else is there? Love. I don't love him, but if I don't give him a chance, than how do I know that? They say that love comes between the most unlikely people at the most unlikely times. But they also say that you know the moment you look into his eyes, if he's the one you love. But when I look into Hojo-kun's eyes, I feel nothing but friendship. But than there were those eyes in the dream, I couldn't look away form them. Those golden eyes………"

"Because, I don't love him, he's not the one for me………" She responded in a distant voice, as if thinking out loud. With that she drifted back into her thoughts, leaving her friends to drift into theirs.

"This is so annoying, doesn't that bitch ever come out side? This looks like one of the most popular places in town." A young man with long white hair and deep golden eyes muttered to himself.

"I want you to kill her," he said in a mocking voice, "and bring me her bank codes………" He continued his mocking, but than stopped when he caught a glimpse of long raven hair, and slate blue eyes that belonged to a teenage girl, probably seven teen, or eight teen.

"Speak of the Devil………" He thought in bewilderment"My luck just doesn't get any better, I'll have to follow her than when she least suspects it………" He thought smirking evilly.

He looked back over at her, and saw that she was dressed in a girl's school uniform, and was surrounded by friends, "Wait, she's just some ditsy school girl, not Kikyou, great, back to looking" He thought, he was obviously annoyed, "But that girl looks so much like the picture of Kikyou, I wonder, could she be?" He finished his thought suspiciously.

He decided to take out the chart he was given on her. It didn't supply much information, just a picture and the basics; at first he didn't see any point in reading it, until some thing caught his eye.

"Description: Known as `The Mistress of Disguise' because she has been known to pull of any disguise, to any length." He read it in his head, "So it is her, she's just pretending to be a school girl………" With that he let his thoughts wonder.

~*~*~*~*~

"Okay, you can stick around, but only because Naraku-san wants you to," Kikyou said in a cold voice as she looked him over, "Well, he looks strong enough to be of some use, he can help me set up this ridicules place at least." The thought, she was seceptical, and didn't see why she had to be stuck with him, but he could come in handy, so she'd put up with him.

"Your so generous Kikyou-sama, I'd be pleased to stick around, for you," The young man said, he looked her up and down, "Very curvy, large chest, skinny waist, long legs, pretty face, if she would smile more. Yes, I think I'll like staying with her very much………" He thought being a pervert, nothing new on his part.

"Don't look at me like that, and don't try to flatter me, if you do than you'll be my new sparring partner," She told him calmly, her cold gray eyes flashing threatingly.

"Huh, I thought that you already had a sparring partner," The young man said. He remembered her other partner, he had been about a foot taller than her, was very muscular, and probably weighed four hundred fifty kilograms.

"Oh you mean the big one, he was new, didn't take the warring Naraku-san gave him seriously, and I killed him," She said without any remorse, as if she thought killing some one was an every day thing, and there was nothing wrong with it.

"Y-you killed him," He said dropping his head in disbelief; his black bangs hid his eyes, which held amazement.

"Yes, it wasn't hard, all I had to do was break his wrist, than punch him, I would have stopped there because things were getting boring but he tried to kick me, when I had my back turned, so I jumped over him, and kicked him in the back of his neck, which broke his spinal cord, killing him," She told him casually, but keeping a cold gaze.

"No way………" He trailed off in disbelief as he stared at her.

"Yes way, he was a weakling," She said, she began to walk away, leaving him dumb struck when she turned back around, and as if in an after thought said, "You have a lot to learn Miroku." With that she left.

~*~*~*~*~

"Hey Kagome-chan, look at that guy over there, he's starring right at you." Nadeshiko giggled excitedly, as she pointed in the direction of a young man on the other side of the food quart.

"Ow, he's cute, do you think that hair's real?" Yuki added, as she turned toward the direction Nadeshiko was pointing in.

"Kagome look," Nadeshiko again prompted in the direction of the young man.

"What happened to `Ow Kagome, you should go out with Hojo-kun?'" She asked looking at them with annoyance.

"Well yeah, but this guys cute too, and he looks older, you should go say high." Ryoko said waving her hands in a motion suggested Kagome move forward.

"Guys I don't want to………" She started but trailed off when she saw Sango running towards them.

A minute later she got there, she was out of breath, but didn't get a chance to explain because she was questioned first.

"Why are you late, and why weren't you at lunch today?"

"Why did you ditch lunch?"

"Was if for a guy?"

"Oh! Is he cute?"

"Does he have a brother?"

"How old is he?"

"What's his name?"

"What color is his hair?"

"WHAT! What kind of question is that, and are or aren't you going to let me talk long enough to answer it?" Sango asked in exasperation. She was still catching her breath; after all she had been running none stop for half a kilometer to meet them.

"Yeah, sorry……… But anyway spill." Yuki demanded.

"Okay, I wasn't at lunch because I already had a lunch date somewhere else. It was with a guy but it wasn't like a date `date.'" She told them still a little winded.

"Yeah right, it was just a `friendly lunch,' yeah we believe you," Ryoko said nodding her head, Nadeshiko and Yuki followed suit, and Kagome and Sango both had the same thing running through their minds, "Why am I friends with them?"

"I wasn't, actually, I met this really nice guy yesterday, and we arranged a lunch date, I thought that Kagome told you already." She said, by now a large sweat drop was rolling down her head.

"Well she didn't, so tell us what the guy looked like," Nadeshiko answered, and demanded in the same sentence, some thing that Sango was sure only her three very nosy friends could do.

"Well since I know you wont leave me alone until I tell you than; he was tall, he had black hair that was tide back into a small pony tail, he has really nice blue eyes, and he's muscular………" She said, she was ticking things off with her fingers, but all of a sudden stopped and looked at them strait in the eye, her gaze suddenly went cold, as if she was ready to kill something.

"But he's a pervert, and I never want to see him again." She finished holding her fist up in the air, as if she was about to punch someone.

"Oh, that's to bad……… Does he have a brother?" Yuki asked eagerly.

"No, but you guys are impossible." Sango responded as they began to walk out of the food quart.

Yuki, Ryoko, and Nadeshiko had completely forgotten about the young man that had been staring at Kagome, Kagome had too, but he hadn't forgotten about her………
