Chapter # 5
Stupid Reporters.
“Why dose Kagome wanna see me again?” Inuyasha or rather….Inu-Niichan asked for the tenth time.
“Because, she dose. She just called and asked if you were still around. And asked if she could see you again.” Sesshomaru replied
“Oh…maybe she likes you!” Rin said happily.
“Please. Why would Kagome like dog-breath?” Koga snapped.
“Shut up Koga.”
“Well…Inuyasha dose mean Dog demon, and Inu-Niichan means Dog brother, so what’s really the difference? You’re still a dog.”
“Koga, shut up or I’ll kill your ass into the next century.” “Oh…big words, weak body.” Koga laughed before running off.
“Don’t let him get to you. You’ll be fine.” Sango said.
“Says you.” Inuyasha muttered and their dog ran around the corner, whimpering. “Hey, Shadow, what’s wrong?” Inuyasha asked, kneeling down in front of him and reaching a hand towards the dog. Shadow growled and tried to bit off Inuyasha’s hand.
“What’s wrong with her?” Sango asked.
“I dunno she came inside like that.” Miroku said, walking into the kitchen.
“Kagome’s here!” Ayame said happily, pulling Kagome into the kitchen.
“Oh, what a cute dog.” Kagome said, kneeling beside Inuyasha. “What’s his name?”
“Her name is Shadow.” Inuyasha replied.
“Oh. Sorry girl.” Kagome said happily before reaching out to pet the dog. Shadow growled a little.
“That might not be such a good idea.” Inuyasha said.
“Why not?”
“She’s a little….mad.”
“What’s that?” Kagome asked, leaning closer to the dog. “There’s something in her ear.”
“Really?” Inuyasha asked. Shit that must hurt. he thought.
“Yeah.” Kagome scooted closer to the dog, gently placing a hand on the top of her head. Shadow growled again. “Hey now, I’m not gonna hurt you. Just let me see.” It seemed to the rest of them that Kagome was scratching her ear, but after a minute she stepped back from a purring Shadow and held up a small piece of wood. “Splinter.” she said while smiling.
“How the hell did you do that?” Inuyasha asked. He was utterly shocked. He didn't know she would have been able to handle the dogs ear so gently. Let alone pull out a splinter without the dog even noticing.
“Easy, I just did.”
“That helps.” Inuyasha muttered and he waved his hands at the girls to leave. Rolling their eyes they left, and went to do…who knows what.
“Hey, no, up the stairs, I don’t trust the guys around here.”
“You mean Koga, and Sesshomaru?” Kagome asked.
“Mainly Miroku. He can be quiet the perv when provoked.”
“I haven’t provoked him.”
“No, just someone like you provokes him naturally.” Kagome stopped halfway up the stairs.
“Someone like me?” she asked. Sounding slightly hurt.
“Oh god, no I didn’t mean the fact that your famous or anything, it’s the fact that beautiful girls -like you- get him going.” Inuyasha’s eyes went wide at that. Had he really just said that? (A/N: O_o)
“Oh….well…I…uh…” Kagome stammered. Her face going slightly red.
“Um….never mind that. Sesshomaru said you wanted to talk?” he asked in a despite try to changing the subject.
“Oh, yeah.” Kagome said, seeming to remember how to talk again.
Inuyasha mentally sighed. Damn, when he wore this necklace, he didn’t just look and feel human. He really was completely human, heart and all. That meant all the human emotions too. Damn.
“About what?”
“Oh, my manager saw us on TV, probably half the world did, but anyway, she wanted to see if I could still get a hold of you. Seems she thinks you got an amazing voice. Asked me to get you to give her a call. If you’re interested in singing that is.” Inuyasha didn’t quiet here the last part Half the world saw that? until they were at his bedroom door. “Wait…she wants me to be…a singer?” now Inuyasha was confused.
“Yeah. If you’re interested. She thinks you would be a great singer. Oh and she also said that at my concert next month that we could sing together.”
“Honestly?” Inuyasha asked, walking into the room after her. Kagome looked around before answering.
“Yeah. Honestly.” she was silently gaping at the size of the room. Even though she could buy a place that was 15 times larger then this, this one room looked like it was bigger then her entire house.
“Hmm…” Inuyasha didn’t seem to notice she was gapping at his room, he was too busy watching her, but not really reading her facial expression. But he did notice that she seemed so…out of place standing in his bedroom.
And he swear he lost his breath and his heart stopped when she turned around and smiled. What was it about this girl that -even though he hadn’t known her for very long- had his heart fluttering? Maybe it was that she looked so much like Kikyo. So much like Kikyo that it was scary.
They might look alike, but there were many differences too. Like Kikyo’s eyes were always cold and hard, while Kagome’s eyes were warm and soft. Kikyo would always get mad at someone and leave it at that, not bothering to care about their feelings, yet Kagome -even after he started it all, and blamed her- came back and apologized for what she had said. Kikyo’s heart was cold as ice, uncaring, and unable to love anyone as much as she said she did. Yet, Kagome’s heart -from what he could tell- was warm as a bath, caring for everyone but herself, and probably able to love someone with all her being. He wasn’t sure if she could or not, but he promised himself that he would find out.
“Inu-Niichan?” And then his hopes sank. He wasn’t his real self. He wasn’t the person he wanted her to love. He wasn’t the person her to get to know. He was Inu-Niichan.
“Yeah?” he asked. Hiding every aspect of his previous thoughts. “Are you okay? You were staring. There’s not something on my face is there?” she asked. He chuckled a bit.
“No. Your face is perfect.” And because he wasn’t his normal arrogant, stupid, rude self he could say it, without someone expecting him to deck her.
Her face turned an extremely cute shade of red, as she smiled at him. So what if he already called her beautiful. He couldn’t help it. He was -at the moment- only human.
“You’re cute when you blush you know that?” he asked with a small smile. She looked back up at him, her face going darker then before but she still managed to smile at him.
“Hey, you wanna go somewhere? Like…lunch or something?” Kagome paused and looked at her watch.
“It’s 10:00.”
“So? Don’t tell me you’ve never had brunch.” he said with a laugh. “And here I thought popstars were spoiled.”
“I am not spoiled.” she snapped, smiling as he gently took her arm.
“Come on.”
“I’d…uh… really rather not go out in public right now. Not with all the stuff going around. And no offence or anything, but being seen with you would only make them think that the rumours are true.”
“The love at first site thing? Pssh.” Inu-Niichan said, “Don’t believe anything they say. They’ll say anything to make a quick buck. And besides, the more people watch the more they get paid.”
“I guess you’re right.”
“Of coarse I am.”
“Hey, you haven’t seen Inuyasha around have you?” Why is she asking about me? he thought confused.
“No I Haven’t, why?”
“Oh, I…uh just wanted to talk to him was all.”“About?”
“Um…stuff.” He could tell she was nervous, and really didn’t want to talk about it with him, even if he was the person she was looking for.
“Alright, If you don’t want to tell me I understand. And I’ll be sure to tell him you were looking for him when I see him.”
“Thanks.” Kagome said smiling.
“No how about lunch?”
“I thought you said it was brunch.”
“Right you are princess.” He said laughing as he lead her down the stairs.
“What was the point of going up the stairs, if we weren’t going to be up there very long?” And Miroku turned around the corner, smiling like an idiot. “Oh. I see why.”
“Hello Kagome.”
“Hello Miroku.” Kagome said in a slightly strained voice.
“And where might you be headed?”
“Brunch.” Inu-Niichan said. Secretly warning Miroku to Back off.
Getting the warning, Miroku nodded.
“That should be fun.”
“Hmm.” Kagome said, “Anyways. How are we getting there?”
“We’re taking my car.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah. What? You don’t think I can drive?”
“How old are you?”
“How old do I look?”
“I dunno, 16 maybe 17.”
“Close enough, lets go.” he said, laughing a little.
“You laugh to much. Are you sure you’re not on drugs.”
“I’m fine.”
“That you are.” Kagome muttered, but he caught it, and sent her a look. Her face yet again going red. Laughing he opened the door to the garage and walked towards the blood red corvette convertible.
“Nice car.” Kagome said running a hand along the top of the door.
“Glad you like it.” He opened the passenger’s side door for her, and she smiled at him. Slipping into the leather seats and sighing. He wanted to laugh at her, but decided against it. Slipping over the hood he landed by his door, opening it and the garage door he revved the engine. She laughed.
“Someone’s showing off.”
“Hey, can’t blame me.” he said with a smirk. And pulled out of the drive way and into the streets.
About halfway there he noticed that Kagome had slipped a pair of sunglasses on. And he smiled.
“Those ain’t gonna hide who you are, sweetheart.”
“I can try.” was her reply and he smiled again.
“A fruitless time I might add.” She stuck her tongue out at him. “Oh, that is so childish.”
“I like being childish, you only get to be a kid once.” And she stuck her tongue out at him again.
“If you don’t keep that tongue of your in your mouth, I’m gonna have to find a good use for it.” She quickly sucked her tongue back into her mouth and blushed.
“I’d like to see you try.”
“Oh would you now?” Now he was the one giving fruitless attempts. He was flirting with her, and she had to say…it was working.
“Anyways…were are we going?”
“Oh this little restaurant I know of. My dad used to take my mom there all the time.” That one stung a little. How long had it been? 8 years sense she died? He couldn’t remember but just knew it was a long time ago.
“And he doesn’t take her there anymore? Why? She not like it anymore or something?”
“She’s dead.” He heard her gasp and glanced at her from the corner of his eye.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t know.”
“It’s okay. It was a long time ago.”
“You don’t miss her?”
“Sure I do! Hell, something would be wrong with me if I didn’t miss my own mother.”
“True.” and that made her think. It had been a long time sense her farther died. And she knew hoe much it had hurt her when ever someone asked about him. And it hurt for her to talk about it too sometimes. Even when she was the one who said it. She hated admitting it, that he was gone. And She didn’t even realize the tears that spilled out from under her sunglasses.
“Hey, you okay?” Then he noticed her tears. “Hey, you’re not crying because of me are you?”
“No. Well…not really. Some though I guess. I mean…you lost your mother. I know how it feels. And it just got me thinking.”
“About what? It had to be something that was a painful memory, you’re crying for gods sake.”
“I just.” And a new flood of tears came on. “I was just thinking of my dad.” she said with a weak smile.
“Hey now.” he said, parking in the parking lot in front of the restaurant, and taking off her sun glasses. “Don’t cry.” he used his thumb and wiped away the tears that fell down her cheeks.
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. Sometimes -Though I hate to admit it- It’s better if you talk.” he said, offering her a small but sweet smile.
“Thanks.”
“No problem.” he took her hand and brought it to his lips before he could stop himself. “I’m here if you need me.” She blushed but still smiled.
“Thanks, again.”
“Now, onto a happier topic.” he took the key out of the ignition, got out, scooted over the hood and opened her door. “Let’s get that brunch shall we?” he asked, offering his hand to her.
She smiled and placed her hand in his as she got out.
“Thank you.”
“My pleasure.” he said, kissing her hand again. And then he noticed the reporters on the other side of the street, cameras pointed in their direction. God damn mother fuckers! Can’t leave us alone for 2 bloody seconds! Stupid fucking reporters! Mother fucking son of a bitch…and he threw out millions of other curses in his head as he took her into the restaurant. Still holding her hand, and still smiling like nothing was wrong.
