InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Light in the Darkness ❯ Prolouge ( Prologue )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

An/I'm going to get all of my disclaimers over with right now. So I should start at the beginning.
I allow flames
No stealing of my ideas or characters
I don't claim any rights to the characters or events from the TV series or the manga of Inuyasha (but darn it! I want to own them!)
Neither do I claim rights to Shy's mother (You'll understand why in part two: Secrets in the Dark)
Jacob, Shelby, and Kyra (all appear later in the story) are based on real people, so I claim no rights to them either. I've asked their permission to use them too.
*Now no one can tell me that I never but a disclaimer in.

Light in the Darkness
Part One: As Light Rains upon the Darkness
Prologue

There was no one, only the flames of hatred and sorrow that were eating away a young girl from the inside out, until only darkness remanded. The light had disappeared, to leave dark sorrow behind in the destruction. But instead of just giving up Cheyenne, who now goes by the name of Shy, turned the darkness into a sanctuary, using it to hide from the past, and the present. This was the only why she was able to survive: only by using the darkness to her advantage. So she hid from her memories. Hid from the truth of the world, a truth she knew very well. When things got tough she ran back to the darkness and hid like a cowardly dog with her tail between her legs. That was the way she thrived.

But what would happen if she no longer had to hide? What if there was no longer a darkness to consume her? What if the darkness had been replaced by the light of love? A feeling she had never shared with anyone. And who would give her this love? And how long would it last? We can only watch and wait, hoping for the best. That is just how things are.

***
Slowly she walked, not really caring, keeping her eyes to the ground, hands in the pockets of her baggy jeans. She walked on after failing in her attempt to find her father. Sighing she looked up at the sky. Dark clouds covered the sky, threatening to let their showers fall. She made her way under a bus stop to wait out the storm. The rain began to pour down like thousands of tears.

Later on when she would look back on this fateful day she would laugh, just laugh at the pure irony. How could she have known that she would never see her friends again? She'd never know true happiness or love because of one stupid mistake. But she never believed in consequences, all things happen for a reason.

When she looked back on this day would she remember wishing at that moment that she could just disappear? Would she remember wishing she could just leave this damned world? I don't think so.

When she went to sit, after setting her bag on the bench, she never felt her butt rest on the damp wooden bench. Instead she just kept falling. A purple light covered her in its warm embrace. An embrace like that of the sweet, but cruel fate that bid her to run away so many days ago, and as she fell into the void she had the passing thought to scream. But her body didn't react. All she could do was watch as the ceiling of the bus stop faded away into the nothingness of the purple light.

All around her the air was thick with electric energy. She felt like she was going to suffocate. But she couldn't help noticing just how beautiful that purple light was. How it seemed to make her glow.

Wait. She was glowing? Why was she glowing? Now she was panicking. This was truly something out of a fairy tale, but unlike many girls she had had enough of fairy tales. This whole thing wasn't happening. I'm not glowing, she told herself.
But every time she looked at her hand or any other part of her body she still saw that cosmic white glow.

Could it be her aura? It was possible. She had seen other people's auras, so it wasn't hard to believe she was seeing her own.

She didn't have much time to ponder this for the young body she was in was in a war against itself. Her body wanted to sleep. Rest after her long day, but her mind was yelling, panicking doing all it could to keep her awake and maybe keep her alive. It was too bad her mind lost, it might have been fun to see herself floating gently through the clouds. And if she had been able to see herself float right past a man on a two-headed dragon she would have fainted (or screamed which ever her body did first).

An/Sorry it's short, but trust me the next chapter is going to be longer. I decided to keep this relatively the same as before. I wanted at least one thing to be the same from before. Look at it this way, the prologue is the past-what Light in the Darkness was before I revised- and it tells what happens before Shy goes to the world of Inuyasha. While the rest of the story is the future, which is an odd way to think of it, but I`ve been considered odd many times before. I'm just hoping that you will like Light in the Darkness. Though, I doubt you will because I suck at writing. Oh well, at least I'm trying. R&R.
