InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Like Father, Like Son ❯ Chapter 1

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
He had raised him, was like a father to him, but he was a perverted old bastard. He’d taught him everything he knew including following the baser of his instincts - lewdness, gambling and intoxication. Mushin was all the family he had known from the time he was a small child. Michio, his father, had left him at the temple in the monk’s care while he was on his travels searching for Naraku.

He was ten when his father returned from a six-month long journey. For days, he didn’t speak to Miroku. Michio merely patted him on the head and giving him a weak smile, went on with his tasks. His father who always seemed so strong and wise, now appeared weak and distraught. It wasn’t until after his father had been consumed by his own hand that Miroku understood his father’s silence and his almost desperate pursuit of Naraku.

When the wind tunnel appeared in his own hand just days after his father’s death, Miroku began training for the day he would find and defeat the elusive half-demon. His father had been a virtual stranger to him. Someone who came and went with the changing of the seasons. It was from Mushin that he would learn the art of ofudas, creating barriers and exorcizing demons.

For seven years he trained so that when his time came, he would be victorious where his father and grandfather had failed. The curse would end with him, it did not matter how many women he asked to “bear my child.” He would win or die trying. So it was with some trepidation he watched as Mushin approached him one sunny morning and said:

“It is time.”
