InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Little Fall of Rain ❯ Little Fall of Rain ( One-Shot )

"Kagome!" Inuyasha screamed. She was ignoring him, as usual. She told him! She warned him that Kikyou would do this to him! Did he listen? Of course not! Well, it's not my fault. That ought to teach him! Kagome thought to herself.
Kagome and Inuyasha had been best friends for as long as either could remember. They had grown up together in the same run down neighborhood. Gotten into their first bicycle accidents, together, lost their first tooth, together, they even had braces together. It seemed that everything that either of them had done, had been together. Except one thing . . . fallen in love. Kagome had realized she was in love with Inuyasha when she was sixteen. Hojo stood her up for a date and she got completely distraught, Inuyasha was the first to comfort her. Since then, she realized that he was the one she wanted to be with. Of course now she was eighteen and it seemed that dating her best childhood friend, was something that only happened in fairy tales.
Inuyasha came stalking up behind Kagome. He had screwed up hardcore. He had been Kagome's best friend for as long as he could remember, and she had definately always been his. When he turned seventeen he fell for a new girl at school . . . Kikyou. Before he met this new girl, he had been tempted to ask Kagome to Junior Prom. Now the new girl, that he had been dating for a year, but she was breaking his heart. To make matters worse, Inuyasha had been enlisted in the army. He sighed his defeate as he caught up to the irritated girl in front of him.
"Kagome. . . " he began.
"Save it Yash. I know you are sorry or whatever speal you are going to give this time. I understand. You can't help who you like and I shouldn't be trying to get you to think differently. I am sorry. I support your choices." Kagome sat on the stonewall that seperated the harbor from the rest of the sea. She often came here, when her parents were fighting, or her dad was drunk and being his abusive self.
Inuyasha knew he could always find her here. He sat down, dangling his feet dangerously over the edge. Sometimes he wanted to just jump, and smash into the rocks below, and allow the sea foam to wash him away, to wash away everything that he had ever stood for.
The pair sat in silence for hours. Kagome would forgive him, she always did, but she couldn't let it go unrecognized any longer. She loved him, she had to tell him. But how? She wondered to herself.
"Inuyasha . . . " he had sensed her pensive state and looked over to see her eyes full of fear and concern.
"What's wrong Kagome?" he asked gently, not wanting to push her into talking.
"Inuyasha," she couldn't do it, it was impossible for her. "Its late. We should go back." Kagome stood up and began walking on unsteady feet back to shore. Inuyasha took a moment to comprehend what she said, but soon followed.

Inuyasha was in battle now, fighting for the army. Kagome didn't want him to go, she begged and pleaded, but he had no choice. Kikyou had cried, and wished silently for him to come back in one piece. After many months of his being away, Kagome couldn't take it anymore and ran to the battlement. He could die in war, she had to tell him before he died that she loved him and would always love him.
"Inuyasha!" she screamed, running to the baricade. Inuyasha turned his head to see her running to him.
"Kagome?" he didn't understand what she was doing here.
"Inuyasha!" she said again.
"Kagome, you can't be here! You have to leave, you'll get hurt." he tried to turn her back around, but she remained firmly planted to the ground.
"No, Inuyasha, I want to help. I can help if I stay." it was the only thing she could think of before she told him how she felt.
"If you want to help. Take this." he handed her an envelope, sealed with his mark. "Take this letter to Kikyou tonight." he said. He didn't really care if the letter got to Kikyou or not, he just didn't want Kagome in danger.
Kagome realized she would officially never have his love and she nodded, taking the envelope from his clawed hand. Kagome felt tears fall down her eyes and rain began to pour from the heavens. Kagome turned to go back to Kikyou's on the other part of the country.
"Here they come!" a man shouted from behind the baricade. Inuyasha ran back to his post, preparing his gun.
"Go!" he shouted. Kagome turned around, gasping for breath. Gun shots were being fired left and right, there was no where to go without watching a man fall from the baricade, or hearing a bullet whistle by. Kagome turned back to Inuyasha, seeing him trying to block the fort as well as he could. Then she saw him, an enemy prepared to shoot at her Inuyasha.
"Inuyasha!!!" she ran to him and jumped in front of him. A gunshot resounded throughout the battlement and Kagome fell with a sharp pound to the cold, hard, unforgiving earth.
"KAGOME!" Inuyasha knelt down beside her, cradling her in his arms. The blood was too much and it overpowered his senses. He didn't know what to do, there were no hospitals near by, and even so the hospitals weren't equipped for gunshot wounds (guns were a new development after all). Inuyasha looked at the bleeding Kagome in his arms.
"Kagome . . . " he whispered. He tried to sheild her from the rain with his body, but the rain was pouring down too fast.
" Don't you fret Inuyasha, I don't feel any pain. A little fall of rain, can hardly hurt me now. You're here that's all I need to know. And you will keep me safe . . . and you will keep me close . . . and rain, will make the flowers grow" Kagome's breath grew shallow as she gasped for air.
"If you will lift the pain dear God above . . . if I could close your wounds with words of love."
"Just hold me now and let it be. Shelter me . . . comfort me."
"You would live a hundred years if I could show you how I won't desert you now."
"The rain can't hurt me now this rain will wash away what's passed. And you will keep me safe and you will keep me close. I'll sleep in your embrace at last." Kagome smiled weekly, looking up at the man holding her. A small as bright as the day graced her lips, she looked at the rain falling from the sky and she spoke again. "The rain that brings you here is heaven blessed the skies begin to clear and I'm at rest. A breath away from where you are, I've come home from so far." Inuyasha looked down at her.
"Hush your breath Kagome"
"Hush your breath Inuyasha" they spoke in unison.
"I don't feel any pain, a little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now."
"I'm here." he reassured her.
"That's all I need to know. And you will keep me safe . . . and you will keep me close . . . and rain"
"and rain" Inuyasha repeated
"Will make the flowers . . ." Kagome's voice trailed off as her head fell limply in Inuyasha's arms.
"grow" he finished. He cried into Kagome's chest when a sudden movement from her caused him to jump back.
"But there's something else sweet Inuyasha!" she screamed in a happy sing-song voice. He jumped back and released her. "It's something called Photosynthesis! The sun comes down and shines its light! The flowers gather food from the sun so bright! The rain helps to, water the roots, but then there's the pollen and the CO2. The energy so powerful, its like a zoo! So it's not just the rain . . . its the photosynethsis . . . too!" Kagome smiled and jumped up and down excitedly.
Inuyasha looked at her for a moment and grew confused. Hadn't she just been lying dead in his arms.
"Sorry Yash. I can't let die. I'm the main character. I love you though!" Kagome kissed his nose and walked off the stage.
"And that is a big CUT!" Sesshomaru screamed from the distance.

Hahahah! Bet you weren't expecting that! Hahahahah! The little touching speach about flowers (and the title of this one-shot) is a song from Les Miserables . . . It is "Little Fall of Rain" sung by my favorite character.
Shannon *former Writing Club President, and CRT (Civil Rights Team) president and one of my best friends in the whole world* and I have a little joke thing in Les Mis where we think that Eponine during "LFOR" should stand up and starting singing about Photosynthesis. Haha! So yeah. I wrote it in this story *i think she wrote it for Les Miserables. Check Musicals.net or fanfiction.net* ^_^
I am sorry, I tricked you, making you think this story was all sad and depressing *tear* hehehehe! I bet you didn't even realize it was under comedy! Hehehehehehehe! *cough* Again I sorry.
