`I can't believe they're gone!'

I close my eyes and feel the gaping emptiness in my soul where they'd been. `I admit, I'd hated them at first, they'd limited my freedom from the moment they came into my life. All I'd wanted was within my grasp. Then Kagome said THAT word! Oh, Kagome! Then the little fox brat joined us. And then the hentai monk. And then Sango and her firecat. They taught me that what I always thought I'd wanted and what I really wanted were two different things.'

`I can't believe they are gone!' The thought crosses my mind again, accompanied by a surge of stupid emotion. I force it down. `I will not cry!' The pain, though, does not go away. `I may have hated them at first but had gotten used to having them around. They became a part of me.' I find I cannnot live with their loss.

Quietly, so as to not wake her, I slip from Kagome's arms and out of her bed, freezing for a second as she whimpers and reaches towards where I'd been. Then I walked to the corner where, prior to our lovemaking, all our belongings had been tossed in passion. I reach down, and silently slip the rosary beads back over my head. Finally feeling complete, I crawl back into bed with my love.
