InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Lost in a Haze ❯ Sunset ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

This is my first Inu fic, I've made a crossover with YYH, but not one strictly InuYasha.

I don't own InuYasha, or any related themes, or characters.

“I'll be back by sunset.”

Her last words ran through the back of is mind yet again as it had for the past 500 years. He looked down the streets of modern Tokyo searching for the one who he had fallen in love with.

“InuYasha please. All I ask is until sundown. I have to pack everything and say goodbye to my mom, Souta, and jii-san.” Kagome said as she approached the well.

“You never know for sure Kagome.” InuYasha argued.

She stopped at the well and spun around. “We've defeated Naraku, there's nothing more to worry about.”

“Promise you'll come back?”

“I promise. Didn't I tell you guys that I'd be staying here with you?” she reached down the front of her shirt and pulled out the completed Shikon no Tama. “Make whatever wish it is that you want before I return.”

He took it and shook his head. “I'll wait to make a wish.”

Kagome sat at the edge of the well. “Suit yourself.”

InuYasha pulled her into a hug. “Make sure you return.” He said after releasing her.

“I'll be back by sunset.” She smiled and hopped into the well.

InuYasha pulled in a deep breath as she reached the stairs that led to the Sunset Shrine. It may have been only a month to her, but it was much longer. Exactly 500 years longer. He walked up the stairs slowly enough that that Kagome would be able to sense him coming.

He stepped onto the top landing. Kagome stood on the sidewalk in front of the well house sweeping the steps. She looked as if nothing happened. She did, however, have bandages around her left wrist, right ankle, and her left cheek.

InuYasha approached the miko. “Kagome, why didn't you come back when you said you would?” he asked.

Kagome looked up, her eyes grew wide. She dropped the broom and screamed. “Jii-san! Youkai!” She ran to the house.

Jii-san came out with the scrolls. “Youkai be gone!” Jii-san said throwing the parchment at InuYasha.

InuYasha glared at the paper on his forehead and ripped it off. “What the hell d'you think you're doing old man!” he growled.

Kagome cowered behind her jii-san. “Hwy isn't it working?” She asked.

“InuYasha!”

InuYasha didn't have much time to think before Souta was attached around his legs. “At least someone recognizes me!” he growled.

Luna (Kagome's mom) came from the house and hurriedly dragged InuYasha into the well house and quickly shut the door. Kagome, jii-san, and Souta stood with shocked expressions.

“InuYasha, how?” Luna asked.

“How what?”

“How did you get through the well? It sealed itself when Kagome came to pack.”

“I know, I've tried multiple times to get through. Being a hanyou, I've lived this long. What happened to Kagome? Why doesn't she recognize me?”

Luna walked down and sat on the edge of the well. “She got into an accident two days after she came to pack. Kagome has amnesia, she can't remember anything. Us, her home, school, even you InuYasha.”

InuYasha looked down at the ground. “Is there any way that I can help her to regain her memories?”

She smiled. “Just be yourself around her. Don't treat her like a sick person. Treat her like Kagome.”

He nodded. “I will.” The two left the well house. Kagome was now sweeping at the top of the main stairs. InuYasha walked up to her and bowed his head. “Sorry for coming at you earlier, I hadn't been informed of the accident. I'm InuYasha.”

Kagome stopped her current chore to look at the hanyou. “You knew me?” he nodded. “Could you take me somewhere soon? Maybe tell me something about my past?”

He smiled. “Of course, I'll bring along a few other friends of ours. I hope you won't mind.”

Her face lit up. “Not at all. I hadn't realized that I had other friends out of those I made in school, when I did go to school. I hope you guys are more interesting though.”

“We'll blow you away.”

Kagome stepped closer to InuYasha and looked up at him. “You have the cutest little doggy ears.” He rolled his eyes and lowered his head.

“Go ahead.”

“You sure?”

“You're going to anyways, or at least the old you would.”

Kagome reached foreword with her un-bandaged hand and rubbed one of his ears. “Cute and fuzzy.” She giggled. She pulled her hand back and smiled. “Thank you.”

He stood up. “You'd drive me crazy until I let you. We'll come to get you on Friday.” He gave her a quick peck on the lips and went down the stairs.

Kagome gently placed a hand over her lips as she watched InuYasha leave. “Was there something between us before the accident?”

InuYasha jumped from tree to tree to the opening far off into the park. He stopped a few trees in front of the clearing and hopped to the ground.

Shippo ran over to InuYasha. “Did you find her yet?” He asked quickly.

“Yes, Shippo, I did.” He grabbed one of Shippo's three tails before he could run off. “But there's a small snag.”

“What kind of snag?”

“She was in an accident, and has amnesia. She doesn't remember us. We're going to take her around on Friday, all of us.”
