The battle, once raging, stood dead and alone. The field in which the fight had insured, was filled with corpses, and blood. The gruesome picture of a battlefield that would forever haunt the eyes of its survivors.

Inuyasha, the brave hanyou that led the pack, looked down upon the scene, no remorse shining in his amber depths. His trustworthy Tetsiega hung at his waist, whether it was to ever transform again was another question entirely, for he had gained his wish. His ears, which so many had adored, were nothing but remnants of his past self.

Heaving a great sigh, he had almost wanted to lose control, to forget her betrayal that cut deep within his heart. There was no trickery in play, or he would of believed it to be. The well was perfectly passable, and when he had gone to retrieve her, he turned his head at the memory, no, he would not dwell in the past.

Sango, the noble tajiya wept at his feet, her heart breaking piece by fragile piece, until there was nothing but a darkened void. Her depression was deep, so much so, that he did not know if he could rescue her from her insanity.

Kohaku. The only name, save another, that gushed from her parted lips. His heart had stopped long ago, his dying gasps echoing in his keen hearing. He had watched those dark eyes seek his sister’s, and for the first time in several years, they had recognized the one who held him.

Kirara. Dead. Giving her life to save her master from an untimely fate. A tentacle, long and cold, had caught the tajiya unaware, she only had time to see it speed towards her at alarming rates. He had tried to reach her, but as the fates would have it, he was too slow, and seeing this, Kirara paid the ultimate price. Her undying loyalty sent her to the human’s side, and she gave her final battle cry as the appendage cut her down.

And then there was Miroku, who, had disappeared far off into the mountainside, bidding his comrades farewell. He had told them he needed time to gain a sense of tranquility, for his heart was at such a turmoil, he had not lost his curse. Naraku’s death had not been the cure to his untimely doom, and so had left him with an aching void in his chest.

As Sango cried upon Inuyasha’s chest, Inuyasha himself felt the overwhelming emotions clog his senses. The sheer joy of Naraku’s defeat, the disappointment of Miroku’s hand, Kikyou’s and Kirara’s death, and Kagome’s betrayal. He would not forgive her for such a deed, he lived for centuries, and so his bond to other’s were stronger than that of humans. When that bond, or trust was broken, it could never fully be regained, he would never feel for Kagome the way he once had.

Shippo, who held youkai blood within his veins that flowed more fluently that of his own. He would be scarred the deepest, his second mother gone from his grasp. As far as he cared, he did not want to lay eyes upon her again. He should of known, no one cared deeply for a hanyou, so he could trust very few, and those few were dwindling greatly.

“Inuyasha! Inuyasha!” Kagome looked about her, she was terribly, terribly lost, where had the well sent her this time?

The future miko looked around in disdain, she couldn’t seem to gain in her distance, couldn’t seem to move from her current location. Every step forward was like two steps back, and the dark endless pit helped it none. Nothing could be seen, no light save for one who seemed to solely shine on her. Had she actually took a step? Was she still stuck in this one spot, or had she moved forward several feet, only not realizing it?

Groaning in frustration, Kagome mentally tried to calculate how long she had been stuck in this hellish world. Time seemed to have run together, had it been minutes, hours, days, or even weeks, she could not say. Nothing could pass her time, all she knew was that nothing changed throughout her time here, and she feared if she didn’t not escape soon, she would go insane.

Tapping her fingers roughly, Kagome fell once more into her lonely solitude, thinking of times when she had run free amongst the grass. The ink seemed to be closing in around her, suffocating her lungs, starving her heart. She couldn’t move all of a sudden, couldn’t cry out for help as she had once done.

Light seeped in from the corner of her eye as she fell towards it, hurdling farther and farther down that endless pit. She tried to scream, but no words came from her parched throat. Kagome tried to thrash about, but her limbs would not budge, they felt like ton weights. Her lungs were deprived, her chest throbbing as she struggled for more oxygen. And nothing was more nauseating than the deaf note that her throbbing heart had took.
