A/N: Just my little collection of drabbles, because sometimes I don't have time to write more than 500 words at once. These will mainly be contest entries for some LJ communities, but I may put in a few non-contest things if the ideas hit me.

The Little Things
Taking a moment's pause from watching the clouds, Rin's gaze wandered back to a path that led out of the forest. The path that the demon lord had taken some hours earlier.
"Jaken-sama," she called out. "When do you think Sesshomaru-sama will be back?"
"Sesshomaru-sama left on very important business," he replied, irritated and standing waist deep in a nearby stream. "He'll come back when he's finished!"
Soon darkness took over the sky, chasing the sun into the west. Wood was collected for a fire which was lit with Nintoujou. Two fish browned over the flames.
They ate in comfortable silence, sounds continually drawing the toad's cautious gaze. When Rin left to wash her hands in the stream, he chided her for leaving without telling him.
Once the stars peeked out beyond the endless veil of night, Rin curled up against a nearby tree. Jaken took up his place beside her, staff ready in hand and eyes peeled for danger - or his lord.
She smiled as she let her body grow heavy with sleep, her companion muttering to himself quietly. And it occurred to Rin that though the demon lord was her saviour, Jaken made a pretty good protector.
