Chapter 5: Inner Universe
Sango sat in between Kiebe's legs as she neatly fixed her hair. Kiebe was braiding her long hair in 2 French braids for the game tonight. Sango didn't feel much better but she could make it and suck up all the pain. Kiebe was pulling the knots out of Sango's hair, pulling her head everywhere and tearing some of her hair.
“Is it too tight?” asked Kiebe
“No…it's fine”
“Mom's going to hate it!”
“Always on my ass anyway!”
“Like you don't give her a hard time”
“Just because I don't kiss her behind like you…”
Kiebe yanked Sango's hair, hitting her across the head with the brush
“Ow!” screeched Sango
“You need to, she's alone in this house all day, taking care of dad and your ungrateful behind!”
“No one's forcing her!”
“Just try and stay still, alright?”
Sango didn't answer and Kiebe yanked her hair again
“Ow! Okay” she said and they both laughed
“So, what's going on with the Spring Dance? You have a date?” asked Kiebe and Sango thought for a minute. Right now, Naraku was off the list.
“Yeah, boys are lined up at my locker!” Sango said sarcastically
“I found you someone”
“Found? I'm not on a dating service!”
“I know”
“Mom told you to do this?”
“No”
“Damn Kiebe…who is he?”
“This dude from my college”
“He's in college?”
“And he's cute too!”
“How did you get him to say yes?” asked Sango suddenly
“I told him you looked like me!”
“Oh, great” said Sango sarcastically
“You do”
“Yeah, sure, whatever”
“If you weren't cute, believe me, I wouldn't be claiming you, do trust me!”
Sango was still not convinced
“We'll do something cute with your hair, get you a dress, and get you some heels...”
“I don't know how to walk in heels!”
“Hey, you just worry about playing your heart out for the final recruitment, and let your big sister worry about the rest, okay?”
Kiebe started to braid Sango's hair again and once more, Sango interrupted
“Have you ever been in love?”
“Too many times”
“Have they ever loved you back?”
“It's hard to tell, people these days will tell you just about anything to get in your pants!”
“Oh…”
“Why?”
Sango shrugged and Kiebe continued braiding.

Naraku got out of his shower and made a low ponytail of his hair. Today was championships, today he would see Sango and possibly talk to her, considering she's been avoiding him for the last past 2 days. He didn't know what could have possibly gotten her so upset and he was determined to find out. As he had put on his sweat suit, a knock came to his door.
“Yeah?” he called and his father walked in
“Hey, kid”
“Hey dad”
“I hear today is championships…final recruitment is today”
“I know”
“So, don't stress and play your best”
“Don't I always?”
“I guess you do” Nikki chuckled
“After this, I'm going pro”
“Not until you finish college, I really want you to go to Oxford, maybe Harvard”
“There's no way Oxford's team will make it championship”
“I don't care about the game; I care about your education”
“Didn't we have this talk before?”
“Yeah, we did, you know what my expectations are…anyway, good luck!”
“I don't need it but thanks” said Naraku in a fun matter and his father laughed and left.
A little soon after, Naraku left also.

The championship game. The bleachers were almost filled. Gracie and Kiebe sat right above the dugout, great view for the game. Also in attendance were baseball coaches James McClendon and Rita Summers. As the beginning of the game approached, the team was called to huddle.
Sango and Naraku were across from each other, and everyone else looked at them, trying to see if they would exchange some sort of message, none was visible.
I don't have to tell you all how big this game is. We worked too damn hard all season to leave without this championship. So let's play smart...” he glanced at Sango “...let's play in control, and let's kick some ass. Cougars on three. Once...two...three.”
“COUGARS!” the team shouted and went to their appropriate places.
As Sango moved up to bat, she glanced up at the recruiters and then at her family. Sango took a deep breath and went to first base. As the opposing team passes by them, one of the boys pushes Sango off the home plate. Sango just glanced at her and let her pass, unharmed and unspoken to. She took a hold of the bat handed to her and the same boy positioned himself to pitch. Pulling his cap down, the ball zipped through the air and the game begun.

Ninth Inning
Sango stood at 2nd base, Sesshomaru was up for batting. So far, they were 2 points ahead their opponents, that was good, but not great. Sango waited as Sesshomaru took his sweet time to get to the base.
“Come on White! Today, sometime!” yelled Sango and Sesshomaru shot her a death glance
Bankotsu, at 3rd base, and Sango exchanged glances, laughing at their friend's feminine ways
“Ready Baby B?” yelled Sango to Bankotsu
“Ready, China doll!” retorted Bankotsu and winked, Sango only smiled
Sesshomaru finally hit the ball, it went flying and Sango and Bankotsu got a move on. As Sango approached home plate, determined to get there, a boy from the opposing team stuck their foot out, tripping Sango up and she fell. She quickly got up, and pushed the boy to the ground because of his insolent. Just then, the referees whistle rang.
“Number 9, assist!” boos filled the field and Sango's eyes widened
“No!” she yells, anger rushed to her as she approached the ref
“That's bullsh-” Sango started
“Sango!”
Sango catched herself and turned the word “shit” into a frustration yell as she quickly moved away from the referee. The opposing team took their places as they were forced to switch places and Sango was set to pitch. She pulled her hand back, aware of the tie in the game, and the ball zipped through the air. It reached the batter and the batter faked it and talked to his coach.
“Number 9, balk!” called the umpire and Sango didn't waste her voice this time; she walked off the ballpark onto the dugout and drops down. She buried her face in her shirt and started to sob.
“It's okay Sango…It's alright Sango!” her family and friends tried to comfort her but it's to no avail. Naraku looked after Sango, feeling almost as bad as she did. The Cougars lost.

Sango sat slumped on her bed, in her bathrobe as Kiebe applied the finishing touches on Sango's make-up. Her hair was out and long, covering her eyes a little, one side held back with a pin. Kiebe applied the pink eye shadow,
“Okay, go and change!” said Kiebe and Sango went as told.
A couple minutes later, Sango emerged from the bathroom, Kiebe stared in disbelief
“Momma!” yelled Kiebe and her mother also came, her eyes widened at the site of her daughter.
Sango had a little dress in wispy black poly with a natural waistline and a flirty a-line skirt. Cerise and black crystal pleated net peeks from beneath the hem. The bodice and skirt were sprinkled with spaghetti-like flowers made of sheer ribbon and glittering beads. She held a black chocker at her neck and above the elbow satin fuchsia gloves. She had 4 crystal drop earrings and very cherry lips. Sango held her hands together and waited for someone to respond.
“Wow!” said her mother
“It looks awful, doesn't it?” asked Sango
“You look, amazing, Sango” said Yoko and Sango looked at herself in the full length mirror.

An R&B song jams through the speakers, filling the dance floor with high school kids in suits and dresses. In the middle of the floor, Naraku is dancing with his date, Yumi “JJ” Yamamoto. She dances so provocatively, there is no mistake what she had in mind for later.
Over at the doors, Sango enters with her college date, Alexander. Heads turned in surprise. Sango felt the stares, shifted nervously.
“Can I take your coat?” asked Alexander
“Oh, you're cold?”
“No, I want to check it in”
“Oh sorry” said Sango embarrassed
Alexander took off the coat that showed off Sango's little figure. He checked her out and smiled.
“Your sister was not lying” he said and she smiled, feeling more confident, standing up tall as he left momentarily.

Naraku who glanced over from the middle of the gym, saw Sango and abruptly stopped. He is shocked.
“Oh…shit” he says and starts approaching Sango, a new song came on
“Naraku, I like this song” she said, whining and following him.
~*~*~*~~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sango saw Naraku approaching and straightens herself up, pushing a curl away from her eyes.
“I see you made it” he said silently
“Yeah”
“You don't look bad”
“Feeling is mutual”
Alexander returned and stepped beside Sango, putting an arm around her waist.
“What's up, I'm Alex”
“Naraku…” he said, half pissed Sango came with a person
Yumi stepped up and slid her hand around Naraku's waist. She was wearing a provocative pink lace and gingham trim bra top dress which looked utterly disgusting.
“Damn Sango, I didn't know Nike made dresses”
Sango saw Yumi wrapped around Naraku; she just could not believe it.
“Guess I'll see you” she said and Alexander and she walked away
~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sango was sitting at the table with Alexander, His arm laid casually across the back of her chair. Sango was sitting upright, a bit stiff and very quiet.
“So, you like school?” he asked and Sango only nodded
“Yeah, high school was cool, I don't remember girls beings as fine as you though” he said and she held a nervous smile
“So, what do you like studying?”
“Gym”
“I am an English Major, do you like English?”
“Sort of”
“Careful”
“Huh?”
“That was only two words…” he mentioned and she smiled in embarrassment and kept her eyes on Naraku and Yumi.
“Why are you so stressed?” his arm slid down from her chair to her shoulders.
“What do I have to do, to make you feel comfortable?...” he started “To make you enjoy yourself?”
“I'm kind of thirsty”
“Then, I'll get you some punch just don't…jet while I'm gone and leave a glass slipper” he said and Sango's face lightened up with a smile
“There we go…” he said with a smile and left.
Sango leaned back in her chair with her legs splayed. She catches herself and quickly crosses them. A couple of guys passed by and checked her out. Sango smiled wider. Naraku stepped up, holding two cups of punch.
“hey” he started
“Hi”
“Are you having fun?”
“Yep” she answered bluntly
“Yeah, well this year it isn't all that compared to other times…so who is that clown?”
“It is somebody”
“I guess you're right,”
“So, you took Yumi, huh?”
“It was late, she asked…” he added embarrassed
“You want to dance?” asked Alexander, standing behind her chair
“Sure” she says and he leaded her out to the dance floor.
Naraku just shook his head in disgust, crossed to his table and took Yumi's hand, leading her to the dance floor.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sango was nervous at first, but Alexander gently guided her into a small circle which relaxed her a bit. Alexander moved his hands from Sango's shoulders to her back and pulled her in closer. Naraku repeats Alexander's actions.
Sango and Naraku glanced up at the same time and catch each others eyes. Thy try to look away but they find themselves glued to each others eyes. Eyes locked as they danced, they moved together, almost feeling each other. Then, as their bodies turn, they lost sight of one another.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ div>
Alexander's car pulled off as Sango slowly moved to the front door. She looked through the living room window and saw that her mother was fast asleep on the sofa. Sango walked around the house to her bedroom window. As she stepped in her window, she glared at her reflection and wiped the lipstick and make up off of her face. She kicked off her shoes and took the pin out of her hair, throwing it on the floor. She removed the chocker and the jewelry, along with the gloves, until she was left with nothing but the dress.
Light suddenly sliced through the darkness. Sango looked over and is extremely surprised to see Naraku in the middle of his room, pulling off his jacket, opening his shirt. Sango climbed out of his window and whispered.
“Psst.” She whispered loudly and Naraku looked over then climbed out of his window and stood in front of Sango.
“What?”
“Early night for you, isn't it?”
“I was about to ask you the same thing, you going with a college boy and all” he answered sarcastically
“So, where'd you go after?” he continued
“Milhous Drive”
“It figures”
“So, what dead-end street did you and Yumi go to?”
“That's none of your business”
“Well, I'm sure she kept her word and left you satisfied” said Sango
“That's what you think, eh?”
“Little after the party was over, I took Yumi straight home, and she told me she will never ever want to date me again”
“Why?”
“Because, I don't stick my dick in anything” he said and Sango took all this in.
“I was sitting in Alexander's car with him kissing on me and feeling on me and it was really bugging me cause I couldn't remember how many homeruns I had before I joined the baseball team. And then I guess he got tired of me sort of accidentally kneeing him in the balls.” She said and he laughed, she joining him in laughter.
“109” he said
“What?”
“You had 109 homeruns in all”
Sango looked at him surprised
“So, why didn't you take Kykio to the dance?”
“I heard Kag's and Rin told you I was kissing her, was that why you were so upset?”
“Answer my question first”
“Because since I had you, I mean you really were the only think that was important in my life and now that I had you and was sure of it, she was mad and forced a kiss on me…that sounds weak but you have to believe me…”
“It is weak, and yes that's why I was mad…” she said, staring in his eyes
“Well, I want us to be friends if you won't believe me…” he started and she only nodded
“Friends?” he said opening his arm in a hug and approached her instead of giving him a hug, she kisses him and pulls back.
“No…not friends…lovers…I love you, Naraku…” she said and continued kissing him. He got up and they both feel in the grass, he planted long fluid kisses on her mouth. She suddenly pushed him off and he sat up in the grass, staring at her. She gets up and he sits in the grass.
He looks at her as she turned back and bit her lip, hiding a smile. She starts walking to hr house and stops mid-way.
“You coming?” she asked and he pettily sat up and followed her.
