Part 4
"Are you crazy?"
Kagome barely even flinched as Sango yelled at her for the seventh time since she and Miroku got back from their rounds. She hadn't even sat down for longer than two seconds before they charged into the room, weapons drawn into position for attack.
She knew that they could sense his presence inside their home, running in here thinking the worse when they had sensed hers as well. Did they really think that being as weak as he is he would be able to over power her? Did they really have that small amount of faith in her and her abilities?
Of course, she couldn't blame them. She was the youngest out of all of them as well as the last person to join the team. They having well over ten years of fighting experience, while she only had five. She wasn't as strong as they were but still… to have that small amount of faith in her was insulting.
"Would you keep it down?" Kagome asked tranquilly. "I don't want him to wake and disturb his bandages. I'm not in the mood to clean and dress him all over again."
'Although… he was rather nice to look at.' She thought fondly, remembering just how handsome he was once he was cleaned up. How bronze his chest was - slick and smooth with muscles - his hair so soft and purest of white innocence. The lines of his face relaxed, giving off a type of peaceful nature around him.
Kagome mentally cursed herself, trying hard to fight off the blush that wanted to spread over her cheeks. She would admit; he was handsome - irresistibly so. Somehow having the ability to waken an unknown fire deep in the pit of her stomach - the sport between her legs becoming annoyingly wet and slick.
Damn it, what the hell was wrong with her? He was the enemy - well… not really, at least not anymore. Now that he was exiled he was really no bodies' enemy, though his own kind would see him as a threat and try to kill him. But that wasn't the point! He was a demon. A DEMON! She didn't even know his name! And for that matter, there is no way that the elders would approve… would they? And what if he became their ally, would they approve then?
"Kagome," Miroku said, placing a comforting arm around her shoulders. "Could you please try and explain to us just exact what it was that made you bring him here?"
She was quiet at first, her minds eye remembering just how badly hurt he was. The amount of blood that he had lost, how savour his wounds were. She would have left him there to die; she knew she would have. But… when he looked at her with those warm, deep amber eyes - showing nothing but relief and trust… how could she not take pity on him and bring him here?
And there was no other reason why… she just couldn't.
"He was attacked…" she said slowly, quietly. Her voice barely above a whisper. "His wounds were like that of our own fallen comrades." Kagome locked eyes with Sango, her blue eyes sad, and filled with tears that threatened to fall.
Sango swallowed. "You mean?"
Kagome nodded. "His own people attacked him. They purposely left him alive, knowing that the dept of his injuries would kill him but will do it slowly. They wanted him to suffer… I… I-I just couldn't…"
Miroku pulled her into a hospitable embrace. Rubbing his hands around in small, soothing circles on her back. "It's alright, Kagome. He can stay here until his strength returns to him. Then we have no choice in the matter but to bring him in front of the elders - they will decide his fate."
"Will they kill him?"
"It is possible." Miroku replied. "However, we do not know for sure. They might decide to ask him to become an ally instead, meaning that he would join forces with us in our battle."
Kagome stayed silent. She really hoped that the elder would ask him to join them. She really didn't want him to be killed. Besides with him on their side they would have a huge advantage against the other demons. Reinforcement dates, hide out locations, battle strategies, number of clans left - almost everything would be known to them.
Yes… he would be a huge advantage for them. Maybe enough for them to annihilate the threat of the demons and finally win this war.
"But then again, Kagome." Sango continued on, cutting into her thoughts. "Until his strength does return, he must be heavily sedated at all times. And he will be your responsibility."
Kagome sat up out of Miroku's arms. "Really?"
Sango nodded. "Now, you should go wash up and get some rest. You're dirty and you smell like a demon. We'll keep an eye on him until you're finished."
"Thank you." Kagome hugged both of her friends and hurried to the bathroom. Excitement flowing through her veins at the thought of a nice long, hot relaxing bath.

Inu Yasha kept quiet and still. His muscles felt weird - sluggish almost. Like all the strength and energy had been sucked out of his entire body.
His other senses seemed to be fine and working normally. His nose was telling him that there were three other people in the house long before he could hear their voices. He could identify two females and a male. The older female yelling at the younger one about bringing a demon into their house - putting them all in danger. Then he could hear the male's voice, calm and steady.
Inu Yasha knew that they were trying to figure out why he was here. Hell, he was trying to figure that part out himself.
He could faintly remember walking though the dark alley. His blood slowly leaking out of his body on to the concrete below. His heart was filled with rage and hate then - distracting him from the blow that was sent to his ribcage. Next thing he knew he was looking up into the cold blue eyes of Higurashi - the youngest, but still feared demon slayer. He had never met her before, only heard rumours and tales about her fighting skills. He was sure that she would have showed him no mercy and ended his life without a second thought, but as it turned out it seemed that she took pity on him instead. Bring him back here to tend to his wound and help him back on the road to recovery - thus, saving his life.
'Why?' he thought. After all, he was a demon and she was a slayer. Why would she take pity on him? Didn't she know that she was putting herself in danger if she didn't finish him off? Wasn't she scared that once his strength returned that he would kill her and her friends?
She saved his life…
Inu Yasha closed his eyes, sighing hopelessly to himself. She had saved his life, now his belonged to her. He had always respected his father's rules and codes of honour, finding them reasonable and necessary. After all, it was common sense that you repay someone back for his or her kindness.
But now his life belonged to a slayer, surely his father had never thought that such a thing would ever happen. If the thought had crossed his mind before, he was sure that Toga would have never made the oath.
Inu Yasha sighed again. He wasn't going to dishonour his father's name by ignoring his wishes, and he sure as hell didn't want to disgrace his family by joining with the angels. But he didn't have a choice. Not only did he owe his life to one of them - now bound to her forever or until he redeemed her for it - but for reasons of his own.
Sleep pulled at his mind, drawing him into the comforting darkness. He would have to talk to them the next time he came to. There were a lot of things to discuss with his new allies - including the fact that he was going to join their band and that his life was now Higurashi's to do as she pleased.
A smile played on his lips as he drifted off again. Though, through the bad facts about joining them were evident, so was the good. If he joined them, he would have a better chance at getting his revenge. He would be able to avenge his brother's death.
'Naraku…' Inu Yasha's unconscious mind called out. '… I'm coming for you…'
