InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Love is... ❯ Love is... ( One-Shot )
[ A - All Readers ]
* A fanfic written to feelings I've had as of late. A little bit of a story mixed with some poetry. Enjoy! *
“What is love?” This was a question that had been bothering Kagome for some time now. Was it simply a stupid emotion or was it something more? As she sat and stared at the poem she was supposed to write for English class, she realized she had no clue. Thinking of how she had felt when she saw Inuyasha and Kikyo together, she picked up her pen and began to write.
Love is tiring
Confusing
Abusing
A battle that you're losing
As she wrote, it just didn't sound quite right. Sure, love could sometimes be tough, but it wasn't exactly the worst thing in the world. Love was just as good as it was bad.
Love can be wonderful
Joyful
Sweet
Uplifting
An experience you can share with someone close
But even this wasn't always the case. Sometimes the person you love might not love you back. And, what then?
Is finding love worth the pain it can bring?
What if the love isn't real?
What if it isn't mutual?
What if... what if... what if...
Kagome picked up her pen and began to twist the cap on and off. She didn't even know the answer to that one. She was too afraid of the consequences to even tell Inuyasha how she felt. How could she possibly write about love if she had never really experienced it? Suddenly, inspiration struck.
All these questions
All these feelings
I'm here now to say
That love is truly...
A blessing to all who have it
A goal that all can reach
A hope that never dies
An emotion that lasts a lifetime
Happy to have her poem complete, Kagome read it aloud quietly. However, she was unaware of the silver-haired hanyou sitting outside her open window, his excellent hearing picking up every word. Why hadn't she told him how she felt?
As she finished speaking, the eavesdropping hanyou leapt into her room and tapped her on the shoulder,
“Inuyasha? How long have you been here?”
“Long enough.”
As she opened her mouth to explain, she found it covered by Inuyasha's lips. As the two kissed, Kagome had but one thought on her mind.
“Thank God for lousy English assignments.”
A/N: With the exception of that last paragraph, my life has been like this for quite some time, grappling with that strange, yet wondrous emotion known as love.
Lucky Kagome got the guy this time, but unfortunately, poems written for English class don't usually make our men fall head over heels in love. If they did, I think our English teachers deserve a bit more salary. Heh-heh.
Hope you enjoyed the fic! -Isha ^_^
