Yume: I can't believe how long it took me to update this thing.
CF: We're sooo sorry! (as usual)
Yume: I could tell you my usual excuses. School, finals, SAT's, Anime Expo, Sess/Kag doujinshi, etc. But of course, it's not going to make up for the late chapter. In all honesty, the real reason for the late update is because of the content in this chapter that I found extremely difficult to write.
CF: Which is why CF is going to put up this!
Recap!
In the last chapter, Sesshomaru meets up with Kagura at last to break the engagement between the both of them. Meanwhile, Kagome and Inuyasha decide to go out for a movie and unexpectedly run into Kikyo. After a less than heartfelt reunion, it is revealed that Kikyo feels that she is too good for Inuyasha and breaks things off. Heartbroken and dejected, Kagome decides to take Inuyasha back to their dorm. But on their way, they stumble upon a little scene played out by Sesshomaru and Kagura. Mistaking it as intimacy, she dashes off before either Sesshomaru or Inuyasha could stop her…
[WARNING!]
The following chapter contains mature content and adult themes, mainly the topic of nonconsensual sex (rape). If you are uneasy about this theme, I have marked the beginning and end of the scene with this: (=!=!=!=!=) So that you can skip over it. Don't say I didn't warn you. This fic is rated NC-17 after all.

Chapter 13: Fool
She wasn't sure how long it was she had been running, nor sure where she was going or what it was exactly that she was running from. All she could think about was Sesshomaru…Sesshomaru and Kagura leaning intimately close to each other.
`Such a fool. I'm such a fool!'
For thinking for even a split second that he had really been sorry. For daring to believe that he truly wanted no one but her—that it was all a big misunderstanding. Well, it was a misunderstanding all right—on her behalf. He was with Kagura after all, and it hurt her to the point of tears that clouded her vision so she no longer knew her surroundings.
But what really hurt…was the fact that they looked so perfect together. A beautiful man with a beautiful woman. `You're such an idiot, Kagome!' She screamed in her mind.
The footsteps that had followed her earlier no longer resounded in her ears. Kagome suspected that she had lost Sesshomaru who had been right on her tail a while ago when she crossed a street and the light changed immediately after, giving her time to increase the distance between them. Either that or he just didn't want to follow her. Secretly, she wasn't sure if she was happy or sad over this fact.
Her pace slowed a bit, feeling the weariness in her legs, but she refused to stop. Wiping furiously at her eyes, Kagome blinked blearily at her surroundings. The buildings and district was unfamiliar, the street sign labeled with a name she hadn't remembered seeing before, and the air seemed to become just a little bit colder, and the few people that passed by on the empty sidewalk were nothing but strangers.
Shit. She was lost. Pushing her tortured thoughts of Sesshomaru aside, Kagome focused all of her attention on trying to find her way. Unconsciously, she began to jog at a light pace again, a panic growing within her when she realized that the sun was going down quickly.
She contemplated for a split second, on calling Inuyasha to find her. But that notion was quickly tossed out the window. If she called Inuyasha, most likely Sesshomaru was with him, seeing as they were both on her tail when she ran out of the scene. And seeing Sesshomaru right now was the absolute last thing she wanted.
Sapphire eyes fell onto her shadow, stretching before her in a forlorn shape. A small gasp escaped her lips when a light illuminated her form from behind, causing her shadow to become larger, darker. Kagome looked behind her and saw a car in the distance. Fearing for a second that it might be Sesshomaru's, she began to sprint.
Her legs protested fiercely, a dull aching surging through her muscles. Hoping to lose the vehicle that was approaching behind her, Kagome turned a corner. To her horror, it turned the corner as well. `That's not Sesshomaru's car,' Kagome thought with a jump. `Maybe it's just a coincidence! Maybe whoever it is, just happens to be going the same way…'
But when she turned another corner, and it STILL followed her, all of Kagome's optimistic thoughts turned sour. Kagome looked frantically around for any other person on the street she could find for help. There was none. And all the while, the car was still tailing behind her. It was driving at a slow and safe distance…as if teasing her—telling her to run even faster. Because it didn't matter where she ran, it would still follow.
~ @ ~
It had been a rather dull week. He had woken up in the morning, wondering how long ago he had requested his brother to send over Kagura… and of course, his mind would stray over to his most alluring student and how she was coping with her recent break-up. And as he would mull over his morning black coffee, a grin would spread across his lips as he remembered the tortured look that plagued her captivating sapphire irises.
Naraku had always been one to revel in other people's suffering. But it was never quite like this. He found her misery bewitching, the call of her distress like a siren. She was so beautiful when she cried, as he had seen her do it several occasions of…observation.
However, it seemed that as the days wore on, the girl held herself pretty well, thanks to that scrappy brat of a best friend that was always by her side. Inu-something or other… Naraku had been watching her very carefully over the last few weeks, and feared from time to time that the reason she didn't cry as often lately was because he had let her know about the arranged marriage and Sesshomaru's unwillingness towards it.
To his relief, this doesn't seem to be the case. Apparently, Sesshomaru's brother had told her nothing, due to reasons of respect on his brother's behalf. He silently chuckled to himself. `Fools, you are only helping out with my cause.'
Naraku had to admit that he hadn't been very active in the role of playing the sympathetic and caring professor and possible love interest like he had planned. But that was somewhat due to the girl's fault. His dear student, ever the elusive vixen, had made it her utmost priority to avoid him. She only spoke to him when she needed to, saw him only during class hours, and if he ever tried to approach her, she promptly escaped in the opposite direction. It was getting rather frustrating really.
Time was running out, and if he didn't act soon, Sesshomaru might find some way to reconcile his true feelings with her, and his whole attempt to have the girl as his new bed mate would be ruined. And he so wanted her…
Imagine his good fortune when he was driving home that day, only to see the very object of his obsession wandering the streets by herself. He could feel the want in himself grow and ignite, spreading to his limbs—and loins as he watched with hungry eyes the sway of her hips and the movement of her long, lustrous legs as she ran. Her silky, ebony hair bounced with each step she took, and even though he could only see her from the back, Naraku could picture her flushed face, skin glinting with seat as her pink lips were parted to pant heavily for air.
She seemed very disoriented, and very LOST. He smirked to himself. Well that surely wouldn't do. What kind of professor would he be if he left his student out here alone in the dark in an unfamiliar neighborhood? Very slowly, Naraku steered his car so that it followed her slender form, casting her shadow across gray buildings.
The girl seemed to be very uncomfortable when she found out that he was following her, and his sadistic grin grew wider when he saw her sprinting even faster. So, she wanted a good game of cat and mouse, eh? So be it. Licking his lips in anticipation, Naraku continued to follow her at an even pace. He could imagine the terrified look in her eyes right about now, and it only served to heighten his desire.
`So long as I get to be the predator.' A twinkle of lust sparked in his crimson eyes when he saw her trip on a rather nasty crack on the sidewalk. Falling to the ground, the girl let out a strangled cry of pain, her hand instinctively reaching for her ankle. She must've twisted it. Which means, she won't be running.
Naraku swerved his car to the curb to park it. Her sapphire eyes followed him as he stopped on the side, wide with horror and fear. He got out, leaving his headlights on to illuminate her lovely features. It was time to move in for the kill…
~ @ ~
`Shit! Shit! He's getting out of the car!' Kagome's mind panicked, and she willed herself to get up and continue running. All hopes of that dashed out of her mind when a sharp pain shot into her ankle and she successfully plopped back onto the ground. She squinted up at the dark figure that was moving in on her, trying to make out a face or something.
But the headlights of the man's car was too bright, blinding her eyes so that the only thing that she could see in front of her was a looming shadow. Her thoughts ran along the lines of `OMIGOD, OMIGOD, OMIGOD!'
Kagome cringed instinctively, her arm coming up to shield her face when the shadowy figure crouched down in front of her, and the words, “Stay back!” spilled from her lips.
Her whole body tensed as a strong hand gripped on her slender arm, and without a second thought, Kagome swung her other arm that was on her ankle at the stranger.
“I said stay back!”
But whoever it was caught her swinging fist too. She struggled against their hold, but to no avail. He was strong.
“Higurashi-san, honestly. Is that any way to treat someone who is trying to help you?”
She froze. She recognized that silky, low and sultry voice that sent shivers down her spine anywhere. And at the moment, she cursed her luck. ANYONE, heck, even Sesshomaru! Why couldn't it have been anyone but HIM?!
“N-Naraku-sensei?” Her voice came out small and weak, a noise she couldn't recognize. Even through her bleary vision she could see the glint of his crimson eyes—eyes that spoke of hidden secrets, like keyholes to forbidden doors. She shivered again, causing her professor to smile even more.
“Ah, you recognize me, then.” He sounded pleased.
“Why are you following me?” Kagome asked rather sharply, finding her voice again. Quickly, she snatched her arm from Naraku's grasp, not at all comfortable with his hands on her skin. She wanted to say `stalking,' but bit her tongue and suspicions behind.
A low chuckle rumbled in his throat. “I was in the neighborhood and saw you wandering around—obviously lost. So I was going to give you a ride or help you out, but when I tried to approach you, you ran away.” Naraku spoke as if it had been an entirely innocent gesture, but Kagome still wasn't convinced.
“I'm not lost,” she said quickly.
“Oh?” She could see him look down at her ankle and she pulled her leg closer to her body. “You know, you shouldn't be out here so late at night then. You never know what kind of people might be lurking in the shadows waiting to capture someone like you.”
`Yeah, people like you?' Kagome shuddered. “I'm fine, thank you. I'll just be going home now,” she just wanted to get as far away from him as possible, though she knew not why. He was only her professor. Still, she knew not where home was. He shook his head.
“On an ankle like that?” Naraku pointed at it.
“I'm fine.”
“Let me see it.”
Before Kagome could protest, his hands were already on her foot, gripping it painfully. She couldn't help but hiss out at the discomfort.
“Tsk, tsk,” the grip on her foot loosened, until he was gently massaging it, almost fondling it. Kagome made a face that showed clearly how much she didn't want him there. But Naraku seemed to ignore it all the same. “Lying isn't good, Higurashi-san,” he cooed. “I can't let you walk home at this hour on a bad ankle no less.” He let go of her foot. Kagome was glad that he did.
“I'm fine,” she repeated, her voice was deadpan.
But he didn't listen to her, and before she could do anything at all, he had hooked his strong arms under he leg, his other arm behind her back, and lifted her from the ground. Kagome's sapphire eyes widened in shock when she realized he was carrying her to the very car she had tried to run away from.
“N-Naraku-sensei!” She struggled against him, both arms pushing at his chest; “I'm fine, really! I can walk home!”
Her pleas only fell on deaf ears as Naraku placed her promptly into the car, not even fazed with her protests and small fists. He only insisted. It was… “the right thing to do.” Kagome began to wonder what exactly was Naraku's definition of the right thing to do.
Naraku grabbed the seat belt on her side and began to slide it out to fasten her in place. But she stopped his hands.
“I really don't need a ride, thanks.”
“I'm not going to let my student hurt herself.”
“Fine. But I can fasten my own seatbelt.” Her voice was so resolved and hard that all Naraku could do was laugh slightly before closing the passenger door and going around to the driver's seat. Kagome gripped the seatbelt tightly in her hand. When her professor entered the car she turned quickly to him.
“You know what? You really don't have to do this! I'll just call Inuyasha and have him pick me up.”
His crimson eyes narrowed at this. “You'll do no such thing. I'm already here, and it's more convenient.”
“No, really, it's fine.” She didn't care anymore if Sesshomaru was with Inuyasha. She just wanted out of Naraku's car. As she reached for the phone in her bag, it was all quickly snatched away. Kagome looked up in surprise and shock at Naraku, who held the cell phone firmly in his hands.
“I won't let you,” he said in a deadly voice—almost threatening. But just as quickly, a wry smile forced from his lips, as if realizing how nasty he came across and once more, the fake façade returned to his features. “That is, I insist that I take you home, Ms. Higurashi. At least let me do that. I'll take you straight to your dorm, okay?”
What could she say to that? He had her phone, and obviously wasn't going to give it back. Not to mention, she saw him move to turn it off—just great. She had a bad ankle and couldn't very well walk home—especially since she didn't know where she was. On top of which, it was far too dark to find her way back and the streets were deathly empty.
Before she could reply, her professor had already pulled out into the street and began driving to a place Kagome could only hope and pray was home.

Crimson eyes fought the urge to look over the passenger seat every two seconds to drink in the beauty that sat there. But it was a battle that he was definitely losing, and time and time again Naraku found himself admiring the girl. Everything from her anxious sapphire orbs to her lips—pink and plump from her constant nervous nibbling, made him burn with something that he had not felt before.
Naraku knew lust. Oh, he knew it all too well. It came to him as naturally as breathing, and consumed him in the moment like a burning fire. It was a sin that was short-lived. Something that he could easily take care of and the many people that he had so harshly fed off of for the sake of his lust were also easily forgotten.
He never lusted like this. He had never felt the burning sensation of desire haunt his mind and body for so long. In the darkest recesses of his dreams he dreamt of her—whimpering and shuddering at his touch, begging for him to stop though her body said otherwise. In his waking hours he imagined his hands that were doing the everyday mundane tasks doing much more sensual things to his favorite student.
It plagued him day and night, giving him no rest, making him yearn for her at the most inconvenient of times. And Naraku knew from the very moment he laid eyes on her that he had to have her. Not as a toy or a fling, but as a permanent mate.
And this was the perfect chance. He smirked, crimson eyes greedily taking the sight of her in as she visibly fidgeted under his gaze. Tonight, she would be his.
“Higurashi-san?” He started, causing her to jump slightly in her seat.
“H-Hai?”
“I was just curious as to why you were out so late,” he said, hoping to make her a bit more comfortable around him. She didn't look at him, instead opting to gaze out the window.
“I was out with a friend,” Kagome answered. “We were going to see a movie.”
“Where is this friend of yours? Not very considerate if they decided to leave you all alone now, is it?”
She stiffened. He noticed. A smirk came up his lips.
“By any chance, were you out with Taiyoukai-san?” That touched a nerve. His precious student seemed to tremble slightly upon the mention of her former lover, and it gave him the desired affect he wanted. He had never hinted that he knew of her disastrous breakup with the silver-haired boy (of course he knew, he had planned it) and it was the perfect time to establish his role as the sympathizer.
“No,” her voice came out dully. “We're not together anymore.”
“Ah, I see. I'm very sorry for bringing it up,” Naraku apologized in a sweet tone.
“It's okay. It's over between the two of us. He's…had fiancé the entire time. I saw them together today and decided to give them a bit of alone time together.” Kagome's words came out hurt and bitter, and she couldn't for the life of her know why she was telling all of this to her professor of all people. “He never loved me. I was a fool for thinking so…”
Naraku listened intently, knowing very well that the girl was crying even though her face was turned away from his. Turning crimson eyes back on the road he held back a smile. As he suspected, she had not talked about this to anyone for a while, and he just hit some sort of dam that will eventually lead her to expose everything to him. Perfect.
“I thought as much. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you,” this caused Kagome to turn to him, eyes overflowing with tears that she desperately wiped away. “I knew about it but I still couldn't protect you…Kagome-san,” Naraku said in a mock voice of concern, his dark depths probing hers for any sign of trust. He could only see surprise at his words, but as for trust, it still wavered and flickered in her eyes. He was sure she noticed that he didn't call her by her last name this time.
“I-It's okay, Naraku-sensei,” she stumbled. Without warning, he reached out to touch her hand. The cold silk of his skin chilled her warm hands and she instantly drew away from him, causing the professor to frown slightly. “We should hurry back to the dormitories. Um, Inuyasha will be worried.”
Naraku felt something tighten in his chest. `This girl is hard to crack,' he scowled inwardly. He took one last sweep up and down her body before turning eyes back onto the road. Ahead the campus was coming into view. `Tonight,' he kept reminding himself. `I shall have her tonight.'
“Turn right over there,” Kagome instructed, a hint of anxiousness in her voice that didn't go unnoticed by her professor. Her expression quickly turned into one of confusion when she realized Naraku turned earlier than she suspected in the opposite direction, towards the science building. She began to panic. `Maybe he didn't hear me correctly…'
“Um…Naraku-sensei—“
“Forgive me, Higurashi-san,” he nodded at her. “But I need to pick up something from my office first. Term papers and other things, you understand. Since it was on the way to your dorm, I thought we'd come by it first. I promise to take you straight home after this,” Naraku assured her quickly, one of his smiles plastered onto his face.
“Well…okay, I guess that's okay,” Kagome answered quietly. As long as she got home that's all that mattered.
Naraku smirked wider at this. He was one step closer… Parking his car, he immediately got out and went to the other side to open her passenger seat. When he did, sapphire eyes peered back at him curiously.
“Uh…”
“Aren't you coming inside as well?” He asked silkily.
“I thought you were going to pick up the papers and then leave. It won't be long, right?”
Naraku chuckled. “Yes, but I'm not sure how long it will really take, considering there are a lot of things I need to go over first. I won't feel comfortable leaving you out here by yourself at night,” he explained. “Also, there is a first aid kit in my cabinet. I want to have a quick look at that ankle before we go. Wouldn't want your roommate to think I was rough on you, ne?”
A wry laugh escaped his pale lips at this, and he held out his hand for hers. Kagome shifted uncomfortably on her seat, looking from his outstretched palm to his crimson eyes.
“You're not going to take me home unless I agree with you, aren't you?” She said, defeated and helpless.
“I knew there was a reason why you're my most brightest student,” Naraku remarked, his deep red eyes glittering with something she couldn't identify. “Please, I just want to help.”
`Damn…' Kagome thought. `How do I get myself into these things?' Hesitantly, she got out of the car and took her professor's hand. At first, she attempted to walk on her own, but soon after, stumbled on her bad ankle and Naraku practically jumped at the chance to be her makeshift crutch. With a coy smile, he began to lead her down a familiar hallway to a familiar classroom. But none of this brought her comfort at all.
~ @ ~
“Fuck,” the younger of the two cursed. “That girl runs fast…”
Sesshomaru looked over at Inuyasha, who was wiping sweat off of his brow, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. Normally, he would have given the whelp some sort of snide comment, but didn't have the heart nor energy to do so. They had stopped chasing after Kagome only a few minutes before, opting to run back and search for her in Sesshomaru's car right after they got cut off from her as she ran across a busy street.
But still, they had wasted enough energy to bring them a little short of breath. Damn that girl really was fast. But then…Kagome had been a part of track team for a while in her Sophomore year of high school, Sesshomaru noted.
`Kagome…' He really screwed up with her this time. Just when things seemed like they were going to look up something like this had to go and happen. Sesshomaru wondered if the gods were laughing at him or if he was just cursed to be miserable when it came to relationships and Kagome.
Why did Kagura have to be one of THOSE girls? The kind that are pretty and know they are and have to flaunt it? `Look at me! Look at me! I'm wearing ruby red lipstick and have boobs!' You know the kind that has to get all up on every handsome guy she sees and bat her eyelashes at them.
Even though he hadn't been at all for Miss Takera's charms, he probably imagined that to an outsider—to Kagome, it seemed as if Kagura was going a pretty good job of seducing him.
`Fuck,' He cursed in his mind, his hands gripping so tightly onto the steering wheel that his knuckles turned white. As if it wasn't bad enough that she found out he was engaged to another woman, she had to see him with her in PUBLIC like they were out on a date as well. Fuck.
His thoughts were clearly interrupted when his younger brother took a hold of the steering wheel and swerved it to the side, barely avoiding an oncoming car whose driver stuck his head out and cursed at the two of them. Sesshomaru sighed in relief and shock. He had just driven into another lane without noticing…
“Jeez!” Inuyasha shouted, “Watch where you're going! If we die right here, how will we be able to find Kagome, huh?”
Sesshomaru never thought he'd be scolded by his scrappy little brother twice, yet here he was again. And he hated it.
“Sorry,” he mumbled, trying to refocus his mind on the road. A thick silence settled over the pair, and although usually they preferred it that way, this time it seemed unusually uncomfortable.
“Listen, it's no use getting all guilty over Kagome,” Inuyasha started. “For the hundredth time, it's not your fault.”
“Shut up, you don't understand,” the elder snapped.
“Okay, what do you want me to do? Agree with you? Okay YES! It's your frickin' fault that Kagome left! It's your fault that she got hurt and it's your fault that she cries at night calling your name!” Inuyasha's voice grew softer, “Is that what you want to hear?”
Sesshomaru said nothing, eyes strained on the road, but he could see a flicker of emotion strike across his golden depths.
“Stop beating yourself over it. What's done is done, and the only thing left to do is to try and fix things.”
“I have tried, and look what's happened.”
“Well, try harder! You can still get Kagome back!”
“Will she even take me?” Sesshomaru muttered ruefully. “You said so yourself, I'm the reason she cries at night…she hates me and that's all there is to it. I don't even know why I'm trying so hard to find her when she obviously doesn't want to be found.”
“Aw, there you go again! Enough with the pity party! Listen, she doesn't hate you! She cries at night because she misses you.”
His older brother seemed to freeze at this, but said nothing, not daring to believe Inuyasha's words.
“She whispers your name every night when she dreams, mumbling stuff like `I'm sorry,' or `I love you.' Frankly, it's driving me crazy, considering our walls are about paper thin!” The silver-haired boy emphasized his point by measuring the imaginary wall thickness with his fingers.
Sesshomaru could feel his heart clenching quite painfully now. `That can't be,' he thought, `She can't possibly still love me…' Even though, deep inside himself somewhere, his soul seemed to soar at this fact. The fact that Kagome still wanted—loved him.
“But after everything I've done—“
“The only reason why things have fallen apart like this is because you didn't have enough faith in her.”
“…faith?”
“Yeah. You didn't think Kagome could handle it so you went behind her back trying to fix things, put off telling her and said you were okay when you weren't. I think what really did it for her was the fact that she had to find out about your engagement from Kagura.” Inuyasha said slowly, looking out the window. “It made it seem like you didn't care about how she feels about the matter or that she's not important enough to know.
“Communication is really important in a relationship,” the younger of the two nodded wisely.
Sesshomaru nearly laughed if he hadn't realized how completely right the runt was. “Oh yes, I suppose you know all about having the perfect relationship,” he opted to say instead, hoping to shake off this painful feeling eating him with a little sarcasm. But he regretted it slightly when he looked over to see Inuyasha with a pained expression on his face. His eyes widened when he realized that…
“Actually I don't. Kikyo broke up with me today.”
“…I didn't realize,” Sesshomaru started, wanting to say `I'm sorry,' but the words felt foreign to his lips.
“You wanna know why?” Inuyasha turned his gaze to his brother. “It's for the exact same reason why you're here. She and I…just didn't talk to each other.”
“Pretty hard to when you're halfway across the planet.”
“Nah, that's not it. It was before even that. She was never honest to me about how she felt and I never found it in myself to ask. The truth is, I should have been more open to each other about what we thought, what we wanted…we wasted all this time stepping on eggshells around each other.
“Sometimes, I wonder if she had told me sooner, if I had known what she wanted, how she really felt about me…if things would be any different. Somewhere along the way, we sort of lost each other. When it comes right down to it, we didn't have enough faith in the other person to understand where we're coming from.” He finished. Laughing to himself almost to reassure himself more than his brother. All Sesshomaru could do was silently marvel at him. It seemed as if his little brother had grown up somewhat.
“Listen, you may be a crappy older brother, but I still care about you and Kagome. I want you two to be happy. I've known her longer than you have, Sesshomaru and I know for a fact that she still loves you.” He said, smiling. “You're the only person that she'll ever see that way.”
`Inuyasha…' there was something…sad about his smile, Sesshomaru noted. It was as if he was admitting something to himself as well, something he couldn't quite place. It perplexed him, but he couldn't find time to contemplate it. With new resolve, the elder of the two vowed to find Kagome and…
And apologize. He wanted to say he was sorry and explain to her. To tell her that there was no real word to describe what he felt for her. It couldn't be love…for the feeling that intoxicated him when he thought of her was far deeper than that. `Oh, I'm such a fool…'
“You're right,” his voice came out in a barely audible whisper. Inuyasha seemed to choke for a second.
“E-Excuse me?”
“…”
“Can you repeat that? I'm not quite sure I heard right because I could have sworn you said—“
“I did.”
“WHOA!” He laughed, grinning for ear-to-ear. Without a second thought, the boy pulled out his cell phone and set it on “record.”
“Now just say that again, real loud and clear!”
“Inuyasha,” Sesshomaru warned, his tone flat and dangerous. “Don't push it.”
Grunting a bit and muttering something about him being a “party pooper,” Inuyasha decidedly let it go and put his cell phone back in his pocket. For that, Sesshomaru was grateful…for everything his brother did tonight. But he'd sooner die than to admit that—especially when he was going to record it into his phone to keep as a momento forever and a day.
“So…where did she go again?” Inuyasha narrowed his eyes.
“…”
Sesshomaru was in the middle of letting out a curse when his own cell phone went off. He found his heart unexpectedly racing.
“Maybe it's Kagome!” Inuyasha cried out. Sesshomaru didn't need him to state it, he was already hoping that it was. Not even bothering to look at the caller ID, he flipped his phone on and pressed it against his ear.
“Hello?” He managed to choke out—quite calmly he might add. Inuyasha on the other hand was jumping up and down like an excited child. He promptly stopped when he saw the look of disappointment on Sesshomaru's face. “You? What do you want?”
What? Who was it? The boy strained his ears to try to catch someone's voice from the phone.
“You know where she is?!” Sesshomaru's voice raised a few notches. His golden eyes lit up at once, matching Inuyasha's amber ones. “Where?”
“Yeah where!” the younger brother began to shout as well.
“Quiet baka!” Sesshomaru hissed. “Wait, WHAT?!”
“WHERE IS SHE?!”
“And she's with WHO?!”
“WHO'S SHE WITH?!”
“Alright, I'll get there as quickly as possible.” The phone clicked off.
Inuyasha inquired who the caller was and what they said about Kgaome—rather loudly. But his brother didn't answer him, all he knew was that the next moment, they were going fifty miles over the legal speed limit.
He could hear Sesshomaru mutter under his breath: “Fuck.”

Kagome pulled away from Naraku the very instance that she entered the room, keeping her back faced to him. “So, where are your papers?” She asked hastily, consciously rubbing her arms with deft fingers. She visibly stiffened and swallowed when she heard a click of a closing door behind her, followed by a few clinking sounds that signified…the very same door being locked.
She nervously turned around to look at him, gasping when she saw him adorning an…unusual smirk.
“There aren't any papers, Higurashi-san,” he said, his voice deathly soft.
“Then why are we—“
“I just want to talk.”
“I want to go home,” Kagome insisted, a hint of urgency laced in her words.
“Kagome, are you afraid of me?” Naraku asked, tilting his head to the side. “When I said I wanted to talk, that's all I really intend to do.”
“…Why now?”
“Because you always seem to be avoiding me, Higurashi-san. Each time I try to get close to you, you run away.” His lips etched into a frown, and a genuine look of hurt crossed his features. Kagome eased a bit, but still kept her distance.
“I'm sorry,” she managed to choke out. “But what could we have to talk about?”
“A lot actually. It's just like making a new friend. Is the thought of befriending your professor so alien?” he took several steps closer to her. “I want to know all about Higurashi-san. I want to know why she's so sad lately, why she doesn't smile as often anymore?”
“I-I smile all the time!” Kagome defended, quickly straining one out for him to see. He shook his head, taking a strand of her hair into his fingers and playing with it.
“But it's forced. I want to see you smile like you used to. You're so very pretty when you smile,” he whispered, his crimson eyes going in a sort of trance as he brought the strand of hair in his hands to his nose to inhale deeply.
“A-Ah! Gomenesai!” she took her hair back from his grasp and brushed passed him. “I really should go! Don't worry about a thing, I can find my way back to the dorm from here!” her words came out rushed and she laughed a nervous laugh. Her whole body felt like trembling, her spine getting uncomfortable shivers from being near her professor. She definitely didn't like the look in his eyes.
“So if you'll excuse me, I'll just be going!” Kagome grasped the door, moving to unlock it, but just when she was about to, she was violently yanked back and pinned against the opposite wall. It all happened so quickly that Kagome closed her eyes upon impact, and nearly lost her breath.
When she opened them again, she found herself staring at Naraku, whose expression was that of stern resolve as well as frustration.
“You'll do no such thing!” He bit out, a little harsher than intended.
“N-Naraku-sensei…” She whispered, fear beginning to seep through her veins. “Please, I need to…”
“What does it take?” he rasped out, his voice holding a desperation and frustration. “What will it take to show you that I think about you?” Naraku's crimson eyes met with her sapphire ones, conveying a message she wasn't sure she wanted to know. “Why? Why do I think about you all the time? You're in my thoughts, in my gut. Ever since I've seen you, all I can think about are your damned eyes!” He hissed, bringing a hand up to her face to trace the skin near her left eye.
Kagome visibly flinched at his touch, but he didn't seem to care. “Not just your eyes…your nose, your lips…” he traced his fingers over her soft lips, marveling at how her lower lip seemed to tremble at his touch, “Your skin, your scent.” Naraku lowered his head so that he could bury his nose into the crook of her neck, “your hair,” he inhaled her floral scent, getting drunk off of it. “Your beauty haunts me, Higurashi, day and night.”
“Please let me go, Naraku-sensei!” She pushed against his chest, and made to move for the door again. But when Naraku said no, he meant it. His grip on her arm tightened and he pinned her once more to the wall, squeezing so hard that she let out a pained whimper. “Ow! You're hurting me!”
“Why? Nobody has ever made me burn like this before!” Naraku continued, ignoring her pleas, his red eyes narrowing dangrously. He was letting her know exactly how he felt, and it felt GOOD. `Listen to every word I say, and don't forget them while I take you,' he thought. “I want to know everything about you, what makes you tick, what it is that makes you so desirable. I want to touch you only once…” He whispered, leaning into her.
`Omigosh!' Kagome couldn't even move her arms now, he had both of them pinned to either side of her. And for the first time she identified exactly what was raging through Naraku's darkened eyes: lust.
“S-STOP!”
Before she knew it, one of his hands grasped behind her head, digging into her ebony tresses and pulled back, earning a yelp from her lips. But just as her mouth opened to scream the man crushed his lips against her, not wasting a second in plundering her wet covern with his ravenous tongue. Kagome cried into his mouth, using her free hand to punch his chest, but he didn't even feel them.
(=!=!=!=!=)
Kagome whimpered when he shoved his tongue deeper, so much so that she almost gagged. And she could have sworn…she could feel him smirk against his lips. Without thinking, she brought her knee up and ground it into his stomach.
That seemed to do the trick. Naraku stumbled back, arms holding his abdomen and crouching over slightly. Kagome wiped her mouth, disgusted with the taste of him on her tongue. She made a mad dash over to the door once more.
`Please god!' Her hand was mere inches from the knob—but it seems that Naraku recovered rather quickly. She was yanked back from her salvation a second time, this time more violently, and this time onto the desk. The force of the table's edge grinding against her back caused her to groan out in pain. But it was drowned out by Naraku's curses.
“BITCH!” He growled. “It's no use running!”
“LET ME GO!” She spat, trying to kick him once more, but pinned her legs against the desk with his own. Still, she struggled, thrashing on the table. However, Kagome promptly stopped when she felt a bulge press against her thigh. Sapphire eyes widened in horror before her entire body shivered in disgust.
Naraku's crimson eyes glinted in the room, a sadistic smile crossing his lips.
“Like what you feel, Higurashi?” He cooed, pressing into her harder. “I promise you it'll feel better once I'm inside.”
Her eyes became as wide as saucers.
“No! Stop—Mmph!!!”
Her words became muffled against his lips as he brutally smashed his lips against hers once more. This time however, Kagome kept her jaw shut, clenching it as tightly as possible to keep her professor out. She could feel his tongue pressing and probing against her lips, and she hated it. `This cannot be happening! Someone—help!'
His hands were all over her body now, tugging and pulling at her clothes. She struggled harder against him, but Naraku managed to still have his mouth on hers. When she didn't open up for him, he became rather impatient and bit on her lower lip—hard. Hard enough so that blood was trickling down her chin and she cried out in pain. Naraku didn't waste a single second letting himself get a second taste of her.
She whimpered and cried, tears beginning to form in her eyes. All he could do was revel in it. `Keep doing that, Kagome,' a voice echoed in his head. `You have no idea how much I enjoy seeing you…tremble in fear like this…' Her cries of terror urged him on, made the tightness in his pants grow a bit more uncomfortable and his breath to heavy pants.
Somewhere along the way, Kagome went limp against him, and he smirked at the thought of her broken. `Perhaps she'll behave and let me have my way with her…' he momentarily let both of her arms go, letting his hungry hands explore her body through her clothes. She was trembling very badly, he noted. His hand moved further down, squeezing her breast—in which she bit her lower lip and teared up even more, and lower still, until it was at the very hem of her skirt.
With a smirk, it disappeared under the fabric, cupping her in the most sacred of places. Kagome definitely didn't stay still for him at this. Her long legs came up, kicking him from the side before she slapped him across the face with all the force she could muster.
Naraku, surprised and rather dumbfounded at her sudden flurry of energy stumbled back slightly with eyes wide. He was met with a very frantic and angry Kagome. Her cheeks were flushed red from fury and sapphire eyes flickered with warning and terror—like a rabbit backed into a corner by a rabid fox.
“Don't TOUCH ME!” She shrieked, her arms coming up to hold her shaking frame. Kagome was panting how, tears streaming down her face. Without warning, she bolted for the door. This time she was a bit faster than he was, barely escaping his hand as it brushed against her shirt.
Even in her frantic state, Kagome managed to unlock the door and step outside.
“SOMEONE PLEASE HEL—“
A large hand clasped over her mouth, pulling her unwilling body back inside. In the hallway, the sound of a door shutting violently echoed throughout the halls.
Kagome struggled against her professor, biting his fingers when he did not remove his hand from her mouth.
“SHIT!” He cursed, twirling her around. Before Kagome could react, she felt a searing hot pain shoot across her cheek. The force of the blow caused her to fall to the side until she was lying on the floor. The throbbing pain seeped into her skin, and she was sure that it would leave a nasty bruise. “That's what you get for not listening to the teacher,” Naraku hissed.
But Kagome could barely hear his words. All she could hear was the loud pounding of her erratic heart beating ten thousand miles an hour against her ribcage. She struggled on her knees, trying to crawl away. She was yanked back down by a hand (on her bad ankle no less) and she fell with a sickening thump on her belly.
“Please!” Kagome sobbed. “Stop!”
A low chuckle emanated around the room. Never in her life had she thought the classroom feel so cold. She swore that if she ever got out of this alive, she'd never step foot in it again.
“We can't possibly stop yet! We haven't gotten to the good part!” His body hovered over hers, and she felt his hands once again grasping her shoulders. “This ought to keep you from doing something like that again,” she heard him growl from behind. Both of her arms were twisted behind her, and she could feel some sort of cloth binding her wrists together so tightly she knew her blood circulation would be cut off. No matter how hard she squirmed against it, she couldn't get free from the bondage.
Kagome peered back to see that it was his own tie that he used to trap her hands. “I'm begging you! Please let me go! I won't turn you in!” Kagome offered, saying anything to get out of this predicament. He only laughed.
“Of course you won't! Because after tonight, the only place you're going to stay is in my bed.” Naraku once again put his hands under her skirt, stroking her through her panties.
“NO!” She screamed once more, turning so that she was on her back. She lifted herself up so that she was sitting and closed her legs tightly. “You can't touch me!”
He quirked an eyebrow at this. “Really?” he cooed. “But I'm pretty sure I can…right here,” strong hands came up to caress her breast before ripping her favorite Mashi Maru shirt right off of her torso. Kagome cried when he roughly massaged her nipple. “And here…” his other hand stroked her inner thigh almost painfully, nails digging into her flesh. A whimper escaped her throat when it broke through skin, and blood began to trickle down her thigh. “And especially right here.” Two fingers pressed hard into her, painfully stroking her.
“No! You can't! Sesshomaru—“
Naraku froze on the spot, and for a couple of seconds, all that could be heard in the empty room was Kagome's desperate sobs for him to stop. That, and the name of a boy that caused his blood to boil.
“AH!” Kagome was slapped once again, this time ten times harder than before, and it was beginning to smart on what was once flawless skin. Sapphire eyes met with a livid Naraku, who seemed to be trembling with rage, his eyes flashing in madness.
“SESSHOMARU! SESSHOMARU!” He screamed. “IS THAT THE ONE YOU WANT? IS HE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN TOUCH YOU?” Naraku's hands gripped her shoulders painfully, leaving angry handprints in their wake.
“Please stop! Stop!”
“Well tell me something,” He rasped, “Can he touch you like this? Can he kiss you like this? Can he FUCK you like I can?” Naraku was now practically clawing at every garment that Kagome wore, ripping her skirt and scratching and bruising her skin in the process.
Kagome sobbed against his lips as he brutally kissed her, not caring how swollen or bleeding they were. He was lost in a complete whirlwind of rage, jealousy, and deep, all consuming desire.
“He wouldn't hurt you would he?” Naraku laughed, tearing the Kagome's white cotton panties. She let out a strangled cry of dispair. Her last piece of protection was lost. She lay naked on the classroom floor, with Naraku looming above her, stripping his own clothes as well. She was screaming now for anyone to help her. Names, random names. Inuyasha. Sango. Miroku. Sesshomaru—
“I AM NOT YOUR FUCKING SESSHOMARU!” Naraku shouted, pushing her down and spreading her resisting legs. For a moment, he marveled at her beauty—even if he roughed her up a bit. The lust settled back in his loins and he quickly unzipped his pants, letting his manhood spring free of its' confinement.
He watched as her eyes widened in fear when she saw his arousal. She resumed struggling uselessly to get away.
“Please! Don't!”
“I'm going to make sure that all you can say is my name by the time this night is over!” Naraku spat, preparing himself at her entrance.
(=!=!=!=!=)
“NO YOU FUCKING WON'T!”
Kagome's eyes were squeezed shut in terror, but she instantly recognized the voice. `Inuyasha?' Her mind screamed in joy. The weight that had been pressing against her was instantly pulled off. Blue, watery eyes flew open to see her best friend pulling her professor away from her body.
“What the--?” Naraku started, forgetting Kagome completely. Crimson eyes flickered over to the side when he noticed that the silver-haired boy was not alone. No, he was with his brother. One who looked at him with murder in his eyes.
Sesshomaru's entire form pulsed with inexplicable power. Waves of rage emanated from him, and it looked like it took all of his strength not to strangle Naraku on the spot. “You bastard,” he breathed dangerously, his voice dripping with contempt and disgust.
Without warning, Naraku was punched so hard in the face that he wasn't sure he was hit at all. That is, until he found himself lying on the floor with blood pouring onto his prestigious tiles.
“You,” He managed to croak out, with equal contempt. Crimson met with gold. It was safe to say that he had never seen the Taiyoukai boy so angry before in his life. But it seemed that Sesshomaru was not through with him yet.
“How DARE you touch HER!” He shouted, hid usually calm and collected mask gone. He took one look over to Kagome, who had crawled into a corner in fetal position after Inuyasha released her from her bonds, sobbing and trying to cover herself up as Inuyasha tried to get closer. It made him see red. He wanted blood. Naraku's blood.
“I swear, if you did anything to her!” He hauled Naraku up once more, and gave him another punch. The man let inky black hair fall over his face, mingling with his blood. He only chuckled, which made Sesshomaru even more angry. “I'LL MAKE YOU FUCKING PAY!” One more hit. And that must have done it because Naraku ceased to laugh altogether, his whole body went rigid and he collapsed half-naked onto the floor.
But Sesshomaru wasn't satisfied. He had to make sure the monster was dead. `How dare he! How dare he! And to Kagome—How DARE HE!' The boy moved to do much worse to the unconscious Naraku before ha strong hand held him back.
“Oi! Stop it before you kill the bastard!”
“He deserved to die.” Sesshomaru spat back coldly, eyes hardened with resolve.
“You're right, he does,” Inuyasha reasoned, trying to calm his elder brother down. “And he WILL pay. But right now, we have something more important to worry about.”
Sesshomaru immediately forgot all about Naraku as he pushed Inuyasha aside, laying eyes on the broken and sobbing girl still curled up in the corner. He quickly ran up to her, eyes becoming soft.
She was in terrible condition, her body covered with bruises and cuts, her lips bleeding and a nasty wound on her cheek. He silently counted each one, noting that he'd make Naraku pay for each of them. His eyes swept her naked form, a tight knot forming in his stomach. `Please god…please let her be alright…'
“Kagome,” he called to her gently, kneeling beside her. She didn't look up, only continued to sob into her knees. “Are you alright? Please, speak to me, did he…Did Naraku—“
“No.” she answered lifelessly, her voice a barely audible whisper. “He didn't.”
Behind him, he could hear Inuyasha let out a sigh of relief. Inwardly, Sesshomaru did too. He really would have killed Naraku if he had really raped Kagome. She was trembling terribly from the cold air, whimpering still at the ache that seemed to plague her entire body.
Sesshomaru took off his coat and draped it over the girl's shoulders. She flinched when she felt his hand on her arm, cringing even further back into the wall. He was hurt at this, golden eyes reflecting hurt and regret. But he couldn't blame her. After what she went through…and before that she had seen him with Kagura. It was best to say that he wasn't exactly her favorite person right about now.
Still, they couldn't very well leave her there. “Kagome,” he placed his hand on her shoulder once more, but did not remove it. She looked at him, tears streaming down her face. He smiled gently. “It's okay, it's all over. Let's take you home.” He spoke to her in a soft voice, as if she were a frightened kitten. She broke down into even more tears at this.
To his surprise, she grasped his shirt with her small hand, and leaned into his chest. He could feel her tears seeping through his clothing.
“S-Sesshomaru…I was so scared! N-Naraku, he tried to…but I couldn't let him! I—“
“Shhhh,” he soothed, placing a hand behind her back and moving it up and down. “It's alright, I'm here. You're safe now. I promise you he won't come near you again. I'll protect you, I promise.” He kept whispering comforting words into her ear, not caring if she believed him or not. He silently cursed himself for not getting their sooner, for allowing Naraku to even get this far. It was all he could do to restrain from taking her completely into his arms.
But he knew that wouldn't be appropriate right now. Not after her ordeal. She'd only become even more intimidated. Once she had settled down, Sesshomaru turned to his younger brother, who was watching the whole entire scene with sad eyes.
“Inuyasha.”
“Yeah?” The boy came to attention, kneeling as well.
“Make sure that HE,” he sent a disdainful look over at Naraku, “is well taken care of.” Then he turned his attention back on Kagome. She still hung onto him desperately, and Sesshomaru gingerly picked her up off the ground so that he was carrying her bridal style. She wrapped the coat tighter around her naked frame, trying to compose herself. “I'll take Kagome back to your dorm and will wait for you to return.”
Inuyasha nodded. “Take good care of her, okay?”
Wordlessly, he walked out the door with his precious bundle in his arms. He cradled her against him so that she leaned against his neck, her breathing soon returned to normal to become soft puffs against his skin. He could see that she still wanted to cry but refused to let anymore fall for tonight. Sesshomaru was only silently grateful she didn't reject him completely either.
From the corner of his eye, he saw Inuyasha make a quick dial to the local police while kicking Naraku's unconscious form a couple of times. Take care of her…he says.
`Heh. Brother, you don't have to tell me twice.'
Looking down at Kagome, who stayed still and silent, in his arms and shivered when he went outside into the parking lot, Sesshomaru could only pray that things get better from here on out.
