Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha.

The first time she saw him she almost forgot to breathe. Standing in the middle of a department store stood the man of her dreams. How could a man be so beautiful and so masculine at the same time. Darkly tanned with long black hair to his shoulders and dark brown eyes, he was captivating. She couldn't take her eyes off him. Flushing with embarrassment when she realized how long she had been staring at him, she discreetly checked to make sure no one had noticed her appraisal.

Through hooded eyes, she continued to watch his every move, while trying to appear to be looking at the merchandise around her. Obviously, he worked there. She could see a name tag pinned to his shirt front. Nonchalantly she eased around in front of him trying to read his name from the tag, but each time she nearly made it out, he moved from her view. Darn it! Can't he stand still for a minute. He had yet to look up from his work behind the counter. If she could only catch his eye, but then what would she say.

"Dear, what are you doing over here?"

Startled, Kagome turned to the woman behind her. "Oh, mother, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were waiting for me. Are you ready to leave?"

"No, dear, but I've been looking for you everywhere. What on earth are you doing in the men's clothing?"

What! Her eyes widened as she became aware of exactly where she was. Oh, my god, I must look like an idiot. Think quick. You've got to come up with a good explanation.

"Um, I just thought Grandpa might want to change his style. You know dress like he actually lives in the twenty first century and not the Feudal era."

"You know your grandfather. He'll never change," her mother laughed. "He`s about as likely to give up telling stories about curses and legends than he is to change his clothing.

"I think he's just cursed with a terrible sense of fashion," Kagome muttered.

"Come on, dear. Let's go home. I think I've done enough shopping for one day.

"Sure."

Kagome began following her mother to the exit. Glancing over her shoulder for one last look at the man, she noticed he was nowhere in sight. Oh, well, I'll probably never see him again anyway. I wish I could at least found out his name. Too bad I don't have an excuse to come back and see him. Shrugging her shoulders, she continued following her mother out of the store. That always seemed to be how her luck went.

Inuyasha noticed the girl out of the corner of his eye. She had a pretty heart shaped face and brown eyes. Her black hair fell to her waist in soft waves. She was dressed simply in a blue sundress and black sandals. Not spectacularly beautiful, but still pretty enough to turn heads. She looked to be about eighteen. Maybe she was shopping for a boyfriend. That was his luck all the nice, pretty girls were already taken.

He continued to watch her while he finished some paperwork before his shift ended. The girl seemed to be a bit distracted like she wasn't really seeing the clothes she was looking at. He watched her as she slowly made her way around until she was almost in front of him. Quickly he turned to the side so she wouldn't see him staring at her, fiddling with his papers so at least he appeared to be busy. Casually he glanced over his shoulder to see if she was still there. She appeared to be a little frustrated. She had a small frown on her face and her brows were drawn together. Maybe he should see if she needed some help.

Before he could make his way over to her, a middle-aged woman walked up to her and began talking. Must be her mother, he thought. Oh, well, its about time for me to go home anyway. As he finished gathering his papers, he tried to hear what was being said, but aside from some light laughter he couldn't hear anything. Slowly he made his way to the office to drop off his papers. Too bad, I would have liked to talk to her. Probably won't see her again. Not that she'd want anything to do with me.
