Kagome sits alone in atop a rock in an empty clearing, as she sits there, seething.
She yells aloud, “I can’t believe how ignorant he can be! I can not believe how he would accuse me of doing such things!! It’s him!! He’s guilty! Not me!”
Kagome stirs slightly as she hears a noise in the woods surrounding her, to her great dismay, InuYasha appears out of the woods, walking alongside Kikyo. Kagome stares at the two with a cold, piercing stare. Kikyo seems unaffected, but InuYasha backs off slightly.
“Do not fear the girl InuYasha.” Kikyo says wisely
“Me?! Afraid of her?! Are you insane?!” InuYasha screams in frustration, “I am not afraid of her!!”
“SIT BOY!” Kagome screams
InuYasha does a face plant into the ground, groaning softly. Kagome then turns to Kikyo.
“Is there anything I can help you with?”
“InuYasha and myself have every intention of being together, whether you see it fit or not.” Kikyo remains calm and unhesitant, “So, whether you decide to come along or not, that is completely your decision.”
“Fine. Let me think about it for a moment, and I will come find you two.”
InuYasha groans and shoots Kagome a reproachful look, but turns on heel, and leaves the clearing with Kikyo. Kagome sighs softly, thinking of all the good times she had with InuYasha. About all the time they didn’t fight and actually got along well. Kagome does not feel the presence closing in on her as she’s in her daydream. Before she has the time to react, Sesshomaru is standing in front of her, she gasps quietly.
“Priestess. This Sesshomaru has a proposal for you.”
“O-Oh.. Do you?”
“Yes. Help me find the remaining sacred jewel shards or perish.”
“Oh.. Oh well that’s a reasonable proposal.”
Kagome thinks to herself about how InuYasha has been treating her, she smiles quickly and then looks to Sesshomaru.
“I’ll do it, when do we leave?”
“Right now.”
And with those words, Sesshomaru picks her up with his one arm, and flies up into the air. Kagome looks down at the land below her, wandering where Sesshomaru is going to take her. All the while, Sesshomaru steals glances at Kagome, curious as to what his younger brother could have possibly seen in this scrawny young woman. Kagome looks up at Sesshomaru and opens her mouth to speak.
“Where are we going?”
“You will see when we get there.”
“But, I want to know now. And please don’t drop me”
“I have no need to drop you, unless you truly agitate me.”
“But.. Where are we going?”
“Do not question this Sesshomaru”
As Sesshomaru says this, he begins to loosen his grip on Kagome. She shrieks and clings tightly to his abdomen, looking up at him apologetically. Sesshomaru smiles on the inside, smelling the fear from this priestess. He continues to carry her as she slowly falls asleep.
Kagome awakens the next morning to find herself laying in a four-post bed with a canopy around it, she opens the silk curtains and takes in her surroundings questionably. She slowly makes her way out of the bed, only to be greeted by an ugly green imp.
“So wench, you are awake. The Great Lord Sesshomaru wishes to speak with you in his quarters.”
Kagome grunts and kicks the imp “Don’t call me wench! I have a name! And it’s Kagome! KA-GO-ME!”
Jaken whimpers and runs out of the room, and as he does this, Kagome begins to walk down the hallways of the large castle, taking in the beautiful paintings and marble craftsmanship around her. She reaches two large doors at the end of the hallway, turning the knobs, she thrusts the door open to see Sesshomaru sitting out on the balcony. Cautiously, she walks over to him, and takes a seat next to him. He snorts in disapproval but does not pay it any mind.
“There is a reason I have asked you here Priestess, and you know what that reason is”
“Yes I do, to help find the jewel shards, but why?”
“I do not have to tell you this, but I am sure you already know, beings you don’t stop asking questions, that I do not like Naraku. This is all in revenge against him.”
“Oh, well… I see… and by the way.. I have a name… it’s Kagome.”
“Priestess.. I will address you how I wish to”
“Grr!! Don’t you get it!!! My name is Kagome!! KAGOME!! KA-GO-ME!!”
“ENOUGH!!” Sesshomaru began to think to himself, he will humor her to stop her screaming because it hurt his ears to hear the high pitch shrieking. He could very well destroy her, but he needed her help desperately, even though he did not want to admit this. “Kagome, I want you to help me because you can see the Jewel Shards.”
“I agreed to help, but when do you want to leave out on this quest?”
“We will leave in a few days, but I have something else I wanted you to help me with before we leave on this quest. I do not wish to come to the likes of you for help, but I am left no choice”
Kagome snorts and thinks to herself . O (How dare he say the likes of me!! Who does he think he’s talking to?!)
Sesshomaru smirks slightly as if reading her mind “I need your help with Rin, she is sick and none of my servants have been able to ease her ails. I know you are good with medicine and have medicines and knowledge beyond this era.”
Kagome nods softly, “Alright, where is Rin? And I will tend to her ailments.”
