“I've noticed something, InuYasha…actually, we all have.” Miroku said lightly, craning his neck from side to side as he sunk down in to the hot spring with a content sigh. He flickered his gaze over to his friend, who twitched his ears in acknowledgement.

“Feh! What do you know.” InuYasha snorted as more of a statement than a question. He glared at the reflection of himself in the spring, narrowing his eyes at the monk's commentary.

“I happen to know a lot.” Miroku continued, grinning from ear to ear. “We've noticed these past months, you have been getting closer with Kagome.” He wiggled his eyebrows at the growingly blushing hanyou.

“Dunno what you're talking about bozo.” InuYasha shrugged, instead looking up at the cloud-less blue sky. Alright, so maybe Miroku and Sango…and maybe even Kaede were finally on to InuYasha and Kagome's new relationship. But he has specifically asked Kagome to keep their relationship in the dark for a few months.

It had already been five months they kept quiet. Small smiles and stolen glances were common when in the company of the others, but they engaged in `alone' time at night…when they slept up in Goshinboku's thick branches.

“I'm you're friend, InuYasha. You can tell me anything, you know.”

“Feh!”

Miroku sighed. “Come on. I won't tell Sango, if you wish. I could help you?”

InuYasha narrowed his eyes, idly scratching the center of his bare chest with his claws. “Not one word, Miroku, or I'll skin you alive and leave your pup father-less.”

Miroku blinked in confusion. “H-How do you know Sango is expecting?”

InuYasha shrugged. “I smelled it.”

“We haven't told Kaede yet.” Miroku said in a tone that silently asked InuYasha not to say anything.

They paused their conversation.

“I want to build Kagome a house.” InuYasha blurted unexpectedly.

“A house?”

He nodded, toying with the beads of subjugation. “Not just a house…a huge house.”

“Why InuYasha you sly dog! You and Kagome are finally together?”

The hanyou shrugged. “In her time, houses are huge. They have glass windows and doors and huge beds. They have built-in insulation and come in weird designs. Some even have fancy metal gates all around the grounds.”

“That sounds fascinating…how would you build such a wonder?”

“I already have the design.” The hanyou admitted, once more frowning. “I just need to go around finding some stuff I need to try and make the house the way Kagome is used to. I would build her a palace…”

“I know a few people who can get some equipment if you require it, InuYasha.”

He nodded.

“And where are you going to build this house?”

“Around the spring Kagome likes to bathe in.”

“Isn't that by the Bone Eater's Well's land?”

“Yep. That fucking well is useless, I'm taking it down if I have to.”

“I don't believe Kagome would like that. You could build your house around it?”

“I could.”

Miroku sighed, looking around the small clearing. Sango and Kagome had sent them away for the day, claiming they had `girl stuff' to talk about. And so with nothing to do, the monk talked the hanyou in to going in to the hot springs to kill the time. And they had been there for about---in Miroku's calculation---two hours. He saw his fingers all pruned up.

“Has Kagome accepted you?”

“Feh! Of course…”

And for the first time since Miroku knew the surly hanyou, he saw InuYasha blush, the splash of red that painted his cheeks. Raising his head, InuYasha looked away and instead stared at the tall trees that surrounded the hot spring. “Sh-She's gonna be my mate.”

Miroku smiled sincerely, happy knowing InuYasha and Kagome had finally settled on their feelings and the hanyou finally had enough courage to pursue the young miko. “That's excellent, InuYasha. We all believe you two belong together.”

Without hesitation, InuYasha grinned. “Thanks, bozo.”

Grabbing another handful of Kaede's healing herbs, Kagome gave them a hard yank to pull them out of the dirt by their roots. She dropped them in to the bamboo basket she had settled besides her before wiping the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand. Looking up the cloudy grey sky, Kagome grimaced. It was going to snow, she could tell by the way the clouds were colored and puffed.

She was starting to wonder when it was going to snow. There hadn't been any storms yet and they were nearing January already. Kaede had sent her to gather herbs before the snow wiped everything in her garden away. Kagome sighed in a content way, feeling a certain peace in the air she hadn't felt for years.

Last week, when InuYasha and Miroku returned from wherever they had gone, Miroku had happily announced he and Sango were expecting. Kagome had been so joyous, hugging her friends time and again. And then, Miroku then concluded with Kami's blessing, the child would be the first of many.

“How many?” Kagome asked, still holding on to Sango, who was grinning widely.

Miroku scratched his chin, mulling over Kagome's question for a few seconds before breaking out in to a smile. “A dozen at least, right Sango my love?”

The taijiya rolled her eyes, but smiled whole-heartedly. “We'll see, you hentai.”

`I think Miroku and Sango will be wonderful parents. Their union is beautiful, they were made for each other.' Kagome thought silently, smiling as she pulled out the last of the herbs. A slight chill ran through the air, making Kagome's teeth chatter as she quickly pulled the miko's kimono closer to her body. Her long black hair whipped in the wind, getting in her face and tickling her nose.

`They also thought you and InuYasha getting married was wonderful too you know.' Her mind chided softly, reminding her InuYasha's very loud announcement of their engagement. And he had also happily announced their house would be built before their marriage, which surprised Kagome.

She hadn't known InuYasha wanted to build her a house. `Think of it as his version of the whole `down-on-one-knee-with-a-ring'. Instead of a ring, you get a house.'

Kagome bit the bottom of her lip, smiling. She had to admit, the idea of being InuYasha's wife was one that she loved. She had dreamed of being his wife since she met him. Now, she could hardly believe their relationship had taken such a turn. The strange hanyou she had found, filled with hate and sporting a torn heart had changed from the immature being he was in to the man she grew to love. His hate had subsided and she had healed his heart---according to InuYasha---and given him a reason to live…taught him friendship, loyalty, and trust.

She had lent him the strength he needed in his darkest hours. And together, they grew in to the people who were going to vow their devotion and lives to each other. InuYasha called it mating---the act of marking her and binding their souls until the end of time. Kagome, still not used to the idea, called it marriage, the union of two people who wished to spent the rest of their days together. Although, she liked the concept of `mating' more…it intrigued her to no end.

“Achoo!”

She shook her head, chucking softly. Maybe being out in the cold wasn't a good idea. But before she could rise from her place in front of Kaede's garden, a very familiar haori was draped over her shoulders.

“Feh! Pathetic wench, you're gonna get sick.” InuYasha stated in a matter-a-fact tone, crossing his arms over his chest and watching her intently as she pulled his haori closer with a happy grin.

“Well, this pathetic wench thanks you nonetheless.” She quipped, getting up and holding the basket against her hip, flashing a toothy grin at her hanyou.

“How `bout you show me your gratitude?”

“Oh absolutely my super-puppy.” Kagome giggled, coming closer and rising on her toes to plant a chaste kiss against him. He caught her waist, dragging her closer before wrapping his arms around her, shielding her against the cold as he attacked her senses.

She sighed, butterflies fluttering all over her belly as InuYasha kissed her, tortured her by teasing her with his tongue. “Mmm.” She murmured between kisses. “'Nuyasha…”

“What?” He whispered, kissing her lips one final time before pulling away, but not releasing her from his hold.

“We should really get going back, Kaede needs these for---hey! It's snowing!”

InuYasha blinked at her suddenly happy tone, noticing the way her eyes completely lit up with amazement, the way her hair framed her pretty face in a way that left InuYasha in awe. He looked up just in time to see the first flakes of snow fall on them, one landing on the tip of InuYasha's nose.

Kagome giggled. “You're lucky, InuYasha…you caught the first flake.”

He watched as the snow slowly began to gather in Kagome's black hair, temporarily giving it a white blanket. “No,” he corrected with a smile as he flickered off the flake on his nose. “I was already lucky the moment you came in to my life.”

Kagome smiled. “You're such a softy you know that?”

“Feh! I am not.”

“You are.” She said, wrapping the arm that didn't hold the basket around his waist, leaning up to gently kiss his chin. She had learnt a while back during their `alone' time that it enticed him, apparently letting him know she submitted to him without question. And he liked it. “I love you.”

“So you say, wench.” He said, kissing her forehead. “But I suppose you'll do.”

“I'll do?” She asked incredulously, scrunching up her nose in a way that was to cute for him the resist.

“Yep” He forced himself to say. `You're beautiful, Kagome.'

She snorted. “You're supposed to tell me you love me to.”

He rolled his eyes as he watched her blow at his bangs, making him squint his eyes for a second. “Fine, fine…” He gave in with a smile. “I love you to, wench.”

“Convince me.”

He stared at her before smiling. “As you wish.”

And his lips fell on hers again.

The blizzard was getting worse and worse by the minute. Kagome winced as she stared out Sango and Miroku's hut---who's windows were covered with a bamboo mat she slightly raised to see. InuYasha had brought enough firewood in to the hut to last for a week along with food. Shippo slept near one corner of the fairly large hut, curled against Kirara.

“It's pretty bad. I hope Kaede is okay.” Kagome said, sighing as she bit her lip in worry.

“I'm sure she's just fine, Kagome. She was staying in a friend's hut anyway. There's nothing to worry about.” Sango assured her, absently patting her slightly bulged belly.

“Yeah, wench, c'mere will you?” InuYasha said from the opposite corner where Shippo sat, opening his arms to her.

Without a word, Kagome strode over to InuYasha and sunk down between his spread legs, letting his arms wrap around her and blanket them with his haori. “Well, you two, when do you wish to be married?” Sango asked, tossing another log in the fire-pit of the hut.

Kagome smiled. “Well, I'd like a spring wedding. How about you, InuYasha?”

“Feh! Spring'll do.” He concluded, closing his eyes and twitching his ears, letting them know he was fully paying attention to their conversation.

“Oh that's wonderful! This is so exciting, you'll look so pretty Kagome.”

“Thank you.” The miko blushed. InuYasha held her tighter.

“Where would you like to have it?” Miroku asked, being the one Kagome and InuYasha wanted to perform their ceremony.

“Under Goshinboku.” InuYasha murmured in to Kagome's ear, who nodded.

“InuYasha wants the wedding under Goshinboku.”

“That makes sense. You met there did you not?” Sango asked with a small smile.

“Yep!” Kagome snapped her fingers. “Oh, InuYasha, Goshinboku blossoms beautifully in the spring.”

“Well, its getting late. I'll bring out the futons for you.” Miroku said, standing up and helping Sango stand as well. Sango bid her goodnights before retiring to her room for the night. Silently, Miroku set down two futons next to InuYasha and Kagome before whispering a goodnight to them.

“I think our wedding is going to be amazing.” Kagome whispered, standing up and walking over to Shippo. Picking him up, she brought him to one of the futons and laid down besides him. “InuYasha?”

“Hmm?”

“Sleep with me?”

InuYasha dug his claws in to the floor. `Feh! She didn't mean it in a hentai way. You're getting as bad as Miroku'

Either way, he nodded once before slipped in to the futon besides Kagome, once against using his haori to cover the three of them. Shippo curled under the blanket, against her chest…

“Sweet dreams, InuYasha.”

“Go to sleep.” He said, kissing her cheek softly before nipping her ear.

“love you.” She muttered, already half asleep.

“And I love you to my beautiful Kagome.” He whispered, nuzzling her hair before wrapping his arms around her and giving in to the wonderful sleep he got whenever he held Kagome in his arms.

`I love you more than you'll ever know Kagome and I'll spend the rest of my life making sure you're happy.'
