Love That Dog!
Chapter 11
AN: I just got back from band camp on Friday, and I have been working hard to give you this larger than normal chapter. I leave for vacation this Saturday and won't return until the following Saturday. Please bare with me on this chapter, it may seem very weird and dark at first, but I promise you, the second half of the chapter won't be like the first!
PS: I just realized that I included Eri in a previous chapter; I totally forgot about that, just pretend she was never there until I have a chance to delete her out of the chapter.
**Flashback**
“K-kagome! Why did you do it?!”
“Oh my god! Someone call the police!”
Kagome stood there, looking down at her blood-stained hands. What had she done? The voice running through her head and all of her feelings, everything just took over. Why were people screaming? She must have fallen down and scraped her hands, could that be why they were all bloody? Then, she noticed cops enclosing the area around her with yellow tape that read, `CRIME SCENE DO NOT CROSS.' A crime scene? Why was she inside a crime scene?
Slowly her surroundings became even clearer; she felt cold metal in the palm of her hand. A dagger…and it was covered in blood as well, what was going on here. Next, she looked down at her clothes, there was even more blood, then she realized she was covered in blood. Her clothes, her hands, legs, face, and even her hair. What possibly could be going on?
Kagome slowly took a step forward. People screamed and held onto their young children who were already crying and screaming. Many parents tried to shield the young eyes, but some still got glances.
She still couldn't figure out why she was covered in blood. It wasn't hers, she felt perfectly fine. No one else in front of her looked physically hurt either. This wasn't making any sense to her.
The next thing she knew, paramedics we jumping over the caution tape running towards her. She wasn't injured, was she? No, she wasn't the one who was injured, the paramedics ran past her. Then Kagome realized that what was going on must've been behind her. Did she really want to know what was going on?
When she turned around all she could do was gasp in horror. “Did I-” She stopped again. Her voice, it was different, she sounded like she was only 7 or 8 years old.
Lying on the ground, both seriously hurt or dead, was her 2nd grade class. Some on the children just lay there, motionless, eyes open and full of nothing, just blank. There chests were covered in stab wounds, though, some looked luckier than others and only had scrapes. How did she do this? Her mind went blank.
`I see you are remembering the past my dear Kagome…' A voice in her head hissed.
`Why are you making me remember this?!' Kagome exclaimed.
`Because, you did it then, and five years later, I made you kill yet again. And now, five more years later, you shall do it once more.'
I, Miss Shiku have decided to tell you this bit of information, even though she warned you before, I am sure that most of you didn't read the authors note. Note the rest of the story is not going to be some boring serious story; Miss Eclipse still plans to keep it funny. It's just that this serious chapter needed to occur in order for the main plot line to begin, there will be much, much more humor in the future, so do not worry about anything, she did not want her readers to think that she was going to turn this story into 100% serious.
`No! I will not kill anymore! You used me then, but you won't use me now!'
`There is nothing you can do to stop me Kagome…'
`No!'
“Kagome”
`No!'
“Kagome!!”
“Leave me alone!”
“Kagome!!! Damn wench, wake up!”
“Huh?!” Kagome immediately jerked up. She looked forward into the concerned eyes of her friends, especially Inu Yasha. Kagome sighed; she knew she was going to have to tell them eventually, there was no way of hiding it.
Sango sat down next to her. “Kagome, I think you owe us an explanation.”
She looked down at her feet. “I know I do, I was just hoping that it would be farther into the future.”
“You don't have to tell us if you don't want to.” Sango told her.
Kagome shook her head. “No, I'd feel better if I told you, keeping it a secret has gotten very hard on me. By the way, where did Eri go?”
Inu Yasha shrugged. “When she realized who you were, she just ran away crying, none of us went to figure out why though.”
“Alright, I'll tell you all why she ran away…
When I was little, I lived with my mother, grandpa and younger brother, Sota. We all lived where I live now. I grew up with a normal childhood. My father never was home because he traveled a lot. It was hard on my mother never actually seeing from him, but he called her everyday, and he always wrote letters to Sota and I showing us pictures where he went. Though, one day, his plane crashed in the Amazon rainforest, everyone but him was found. No one even died on the crash; they just had a few scrapes here and there. No one ever figured out what happened to him.
Soon after that incident, I turned eight and started second or third grade. Well, I started to have this invisible friend. My mother thought nothing of it because, it was normal for kids at that age to have pretend friends. The only thing was I actually heard him talking to me. He would tell me horrible things about my classmates. That they were talking about me behind my back and making fun of me, my anger started to pile up inside me, and one day it became so great, that I did a terrible thing.
It was a beautiful day, no clouds in the sky. My class was having a picnic celebrating the first day of spring. Then my friend started to talk to me again, he told me something that got me so mad, I eventually snapped. He said that the kids said that I was so stupid, ugly, and fat that I was worse than the devil. I got so mad, I blacked out, and that was the last thought I remember thinking before I woke up again.
When I did wake up, the sun had disappeared, and it was very cold outside. There were parents standing outside some yellow tape hold their children, crying because they were happy that they were alright. That's when I noticed that I was covered in blood, my hair, face, clothes, everything was covered. There- there was a butcher's knife in my hand, how it got there, I didn't know, not until I turned around that is.
What I saw before me has been engraved in my mind ever since that day. Lying on the ground was half of my classmates, dead. They had large cuts from the knife I was holding all over, some kids you couldn't tell who they were because their faces had been cut up so badly. Their eyes were lifeless, some of them were taking deep breaths, and that breath for some was their last. The smell was horrendous; all of the bloods made me feel sick to my stomach.
The knife fell to the ground, and I started to cry. I knew I didn't do it, I couldn't have! But yet, something inside laughed and told that yes, I was the one who did it and that I was smiling while I did it. Everyone just stared at me, not sure what to do. But, there was one of my classmates that stood up and came over to comfort me.
Eri ran away form her parents, came over to me and tried to comfort me. She, being only eight years old believed me when I said I didn't do it. Even though I was all bloody and disgusting, she cried and hugged me. It meant so much to me that someone actually believed me.
When I explained what happened to the doctors, they weren't sure what to believe. They ran many tests on me, and I had to see a psychologist from that day until they thought that I was back to normal. Believe it or not, even parents whose child had died still comforted me. It made me happy to know that they didn't believe I was the one who killed them…
And well, that's about it…” Kagome's eyes veered down at the ground while silent tears fell from her eyes.
Sango rested a hand on Kagome's shoulder and looked at her with gentle eyes. “So basically, what you are telling us is that there is something inside your mind that caused you to turn in a psychopathic eight year old who murdered half of their classmates?”
“Yes… I guess so…”
“Cool…”
“Who said that?” Kagome asked her friends. They all pointed to a table that Koga, Naraku, and Kikyo were sitting at a table behind them.
“It was me,” Naraku said, “I can remember the times when I was shunned because they thought I was some psychopathic child, yes, those time did leave a scar deep in my soul. They would call be Naraku the hairy baboon just because I had a pajama top that was made from a baboon.”
Kikyo look at Naraku and rolled her eyes. “You aren't a child any more, but let me tell you, you are definitely still psychotic.”
Naraku placed his hands over his heart. “Your words wound me, my dear, maiden, Kikyo.”
“First off, you don't have a heart, second, don't call me dear again or I shall de-man you, if you have any parts left on you that are still keeping you a man and not an `it!'”
Naraku gulped and got down onto the floor and started to bow at Kikyo's feet. “All hail the clay pot priestess Kikyo!”
Kikyo kicked Naraku. “Shut up!”
Back where the others were sitting, Kagome was quite shocked that the others didn't really seem to mind. Kagome had imagined them packing up their bags and leaving, not staying by her side and give her comfort.
“Kagome, you still never told us why Eri ran away… Do you mind telling us?” Sango asked, not wanting to make Kagome say anything she didn't want to say.
She shook her head. “Its nothing really, I just hadn't seen her since then because my mother made me transfer schools. Though, when I was 14, I ended up finding Inu Yasha… well, not really him, but the dog him.”
“You never told us that you were actually living with her for at least two years!” Miroku exclaimed, “We just assumed that you met her somewhere or something like that! Hey…if you were living with her than did you-“
Inu Yasha whacked Miroku over the head. “No you pervert! I was still a dog all that time until that one night and then I some how turned into a hanyou and then the next morning I came and got you guys.”
“How did you guys get turned into dogs anyway?” Kagome asked them.
“That's the problem…” Sango said.
“We don't know.” Miroku commented, finishing Sango's sentence.
Sango glared at Miroku. “I think I can handle this one. It was almost right before you found Inu Yasha and took him in. We were all in a science class at our school right in the middle of class, there was a power outage, the classroom we were in was in the center of the building so there were no windows, and all the doors were closed. There was this really loud noise, and that's when it all just went blurry. The next thing I knew, I was standing up on four legs and I was barely two feet off the ground. I tried to say something, but I just barked. And that's basically it. We just lived as dogs.”
“I remember hearing about something; did you guys go to Otori?” Kagome asked.
“Yes, we did.” Miroku stated.
“It was a classroom in the school that was studying genetic manipulation. Something went wrong, and some of the fumes went to the classroom across the hall, most of the students escaped, but the teacher and eight students were never found. Though, eight dogs were found sleeping outside the school.
“That was us, and Kaede, but wait, you said eight students, there's only seven of us, who else didn't make it out of the classroom?” Inu Yasha stated.
Kagome thought for a while. “Now I remember! It was-“
