It was summer time. The breeze was calm at the beach. Kagome was standing on her own with no support, with her toes buried in the cool sand. She inhaled the salty air.

 

She found out later, after Kikyo was put into prison, Yura, Kagura, Onigumo, and Naraku were in hiding since Kikyo ratted them out.

 

`I guess she thought that if she's going down, they're coming down with her,' Kagome thought.

 

She sighed and turned around. Kagome looked at the condo her friends rented for her for that summer. It was two stories high and it was painted sakura pink. It had a patio that had a lounge chairs and there were French doors that led inside into the living room.

 

Kagome started to walk inside the condo. When she was inside, everything was light blue. There was a white, soft leather couch and two loveseats with a cherry wood table. Against one wall was a big screen TV.

 

Her friends were sitting inside, sitting on the floor and on the seats. They had smiles on their faces. Why? It was the first time Kagome had worn a bathing suit ever on a beach. InuYasha and her friends gave her the courage.

 

“You look fine-looking in that red bathing suit Kagome, never forget that,” InuYasha whispered in her ear. She blushed. She didn't think she could ever get used to the complements.

 

Even though they had learned more about each other and started to find out they loved each other's individual beauty, they declared each other boyfriend and girlfriend a month after they arrived at the beach.

 

The only thing is, they still haven't kissed each other.

InuYasha led Kagome back outside. The sun was setting behind the vast cerulean ocean. He wrapped his arms around her and laid his chin on top of her head. He started to sway his body side to side. Kagome closed her eyes and started to do the same thing. She started to feel her face warm up.

 

“Isn't it beautiful seeing the sunset?” asked Kagome.

 

“Yeah, but it's not as half as beautiful as you are Kagome,” replied InuYasha.

 

Kagome averted her eyes to the side and smiled. She could tell that InuYasha was very devoted to her. He somehow broke the mold that was enclosed around her, proving that he is man enough for her. It showed by the way he stayed by her side when she was in a coma and when he helped her in physical therapy.

 

Also, he helped her see that she doesn't have to have the perfect body to be loved. He progressively entered her life, showing her the light to a life she deserved: love, integrity, and the power of friendship.

 

The people back in the house watched the couple. Sango's eyes started to be full of emotions. Just seeing her friend with a man who likes for who she is, not what she looks like made her happy. For once someone saw pass the Kagome's outside appearance.

 

`If only there are more people like that, the world would be a better place,' she thought as she snuggled closer to Miroku.

 

Everyone else in the room smiled. The scene was too perfect for it to be interrupted. In truth, InuYasha and Kagome had evolved in their own special way.

 

“Kagome?”

 

“Yes InuYasha?”

 

“I have something to ask you.”

 

“Yes?”

 

“How would you feel if I ask you to marry me?”

 

“I would be very blissful.”

 

“Well, Kagome, would you marry me?”

 

Kagome turned around in his arms to meet him in the eye. She smiled widely. InuYasha went to his pocket of his pants and held out a four-karat diamond ring. It was cut into a heart. It shone in the dim light of the sun.

 

He put the ring on Kagome's left ring finger. Then they finally kissed; their first kiss. The beginning of many that would come.

 

 

A/N: It's my birthday!!! I am 17 today!!! WOO!!!

There will be a lemon one-shot when this story is over, you will know when it is finished. The one-shot will be in “One Shot Series,” and I already have titled it “I Love Yourself for Thyself.”
