PROLOGUE

It has been three years since Kagome fell down the well into feudal Japan. Many things have changed. She has passed her high school entrance exams and is now in her second year of high school. Kagome still misses a great deal of school with all the tramping around on the other side of the well. Her family is supportive because they know that this is something that she wants to do and is her destiny despite the failing grades and absence in the family household. Her grandfather still makes up ridiculous illnesses for her school and friends while she is on the other side of the well. Souta now is in middle school and Mrs. Higurashi still is as cheerful as ever and always keeps a smile on her face and the worries to herself when her daughter comes home for an infrequent visit. Grandfather Higurashi is still a little eccentric and insists that his old bones are doing just fine and he can slay a demon on any given day. Kagomes three friends and the ever persistent Hojo are still coming around and checking in with gifts and best wishes.

Not much has changed on the other side of the well. Miroku is still a pervert and forever will be. Every village the gang comes across he still propositions women and eats slaps and fists for lunch. The amorous monk still detects an ominous cloud above the best inns in the village and swindles them out of food and a place to sleep for the night even though it is greatly appreciated at times when the gang would prefer to be indoors. Sango is still wary of the monks wandering hands and ands slaps him every time he comes near her. She still doesn't trust him and has second thoughts all the time of being his after Naraku is destroyed. Sango is still looking for her brother Kohaku who is still under control by Naraku. Koga of the wolf demon tribe still claims that Kagome is his woman and will come home to him in the mountains after the Naraku mess is over and done with. Ayame the she wolf has yet to convince Koga to stop chasing after Kagome and marry her to join their tribes. Koga refuses to remember the promise he made to her during the lunar moon. Shippo hasn't grown too much and still eats his weight in treats that the miko brings him back from the future. He still annoys the mess out of a certain half demon who thumps him for his troubles.

Inuyasha and Kagome haven't changed much either. Kagome has matured in certain ways that the half demon hasn't failed to notice. She has gotten a little taller and has grown more into her body. Besides physical attributes she has also matured mentally and emotionally. The miko doesn't sit the half demon on a whim anymore. His sits have been few and far in-between and well deserved. The bow and arrow that used to be the enemy is now her friend and she can hit a target as far as fifty yards away no problem. She doesn't get mad when she has to wear miko garbs because she knows that's who and what she is and strangers can better identify her. The balance between miko and Kagome is still a daunting task but she manages. Her tolerance for her predecessor is higher than it used to be but that doesn't mean she likes her by any means. They are still hostile in each other presence but try to act civil for Inuyashas sake. Inuyasha still comes to her beck and call like she is his air and water and it still hurts. The hurt will never go away but the tears feel like they are drying up. Inuyasha still is as stubborn as ever on absolutely everything. His way or the expressway. A fuse as short as a matchstick. He still insists that Kagome doesn't need school and rushes her back every chance he gets. Jewels shards, Kikyo then everything else seems to be his priority list. Deep down though not all is what it seems. You can't read a book by its cover in his case. There is more to what meets the eye. In the next couple of months the inu gang will find out what and who is most important in their lives. Life comes with chooses and second chances and you better take them because they might not be there later……..
