England, 1819

Kagome Higurashi sighed as she studied the walls of her new room. She was eighteen now. Time to start a fresh new season of finding her a husband. She had dreamed of this moment ever sinced her fifth year...Finding a husband a creating a family of her own.

She was always such a loved child, but being a lords daughter was no easy task for her. With her midnight black hair and stormy grey eyes, her beauty was breath taking. But being betrothed to her fathers best friend's son, Inuyasha, who would one day be in his fathers place, was the problem. They had hated each other sinced they'd first met which was when Kagome had just turned of ten years.

She had been grooming her horse when she had made his aquaintance.

"Hello...uh may I help you with something" She asked politly

Inuyasha just stared at her, not beliveing that this was to be his future wife, a girl who groomed horses! For gods sake what was wrong with his father? She was supposed to be a shy little girl who would blush everytime she laid eyes on him. But this girl...she was just not normal. What was her father thinking to let her get near that huge beast. One stomp and she'd be flattened.

"You shouldn't be near that animal ya' know." he said running his hands through his thick black hair.

Still grooming the horses black main she said stubbornly "Says who?"

"Says me, one stomp and your gone brat."

"I'm not a brat and I have a name ya know."

He glared at her small form, as the wind lightly blew throught that silky black hair of hers. Such beautful hair...

"Umm excuse me, but I belive your stairing at me" she said standing right in front of him with one hand on her hip.

He hadn't even noticed she had stopped grooming the animal, he was so mixed up with her beauty. "I wasn't stairing....at you! I was admiring the horse and wondering who the proud owner must be?" he said now admiring the black horse.

Kagome smirked as she'd turned around to face the animal. '' His name is Midnight" still smirking she turned around to face the young man that was standing behind her. "I assure you the owner is very proud to own such a handsom animal, of only three years. I was quite shocked when I learned of his age."

"Three years, eh?" he asked moving closer placing a hand on the horses' neck

"Yea he's still such a child if you ask me, thinks he can get away with anything." She giggled

Inuyasha now faced her mving his pirceing brown eyes up and down her form. "Whats your name brat?"

Kagome huffed "Well I assure you it isnt BRAT!"

"Ok brat! Then what would your name be then?"

" It's Kagome, Lady Kagome."

Inuyasha turned his attention back to the horse, and admired him once again.

"Now who might you be?"

"Your future husband." he said calmly

"Ahem! Excuse me I think I heard you wrong, did you just say your my future husband?!?" She asked wide eyed

"That's what I said didn't I?"

"Well yes...but you can't be my future husband...your so..."

"Look brat. I ain't too fond of the idea either...I dont want some hussie as my wife, who plays around with horses all day."

"Why I never...I'm not a hussie...and yes I do hang around horses! and I DONT WANT YOU AS MY HUSBAND!"

"Good, maybe we can get it called off some how."

"NO! No maybe. It will be cut off sir Inuyasha I guarentee you that." she said grabbing his hand trying to drag him out of the stable and to the castle.

"How did you know my name? I never told you brat" He said yanking his hand away.

"You didn't have to tell." She said turing around to face him eyes wide. "I know more about you then probably your own father knows."

"Such as?"

"Your a rake...that use's women!"

Inuyasha smirked "What else"

"Why do you find this so amussing?"

Inuyasha threw his head back and laughed "Alright brat you've made your point."

"What point? And my name is not brat...It's Kagome"

"Whatever brat..."

"That's it your little ass!"

"Mrs. lady Kagome, Is everything alright?" Her maid called from her room two stories up.

"Yes Mrs.Charlotte everything is fine...But would you be as so kind to tell my father that his daughter wishes to have a few words with him...Alone!"

"Yes, Lady Kagome. I'll get right on it."

"Thank you Charlotte."

Kagome tured her attention now back to the fuming Inuyasha.

"Are you comeing?"

"Wouldnt miss it, the sooner the better"

"Father no! I refuse to marry him"

"Yea and I refuse to marry her! Inuyasha spat out at his father "I thought she was gonna be nice shy girl not this stuck up tomboy."

"Well, I never knew I was gonna get stuck with a looser who doesnt like horses"

"Brat."

"looser"

"Moron"

"Children children please!" Kagome's father cut in. "Now Kag, it just seem's you've got off to a bad start with him, can't you at least try it again?"

"I want to marry for love father...not for bethrothal. I know I could never love him, as cold hearted as he is"

"And I could never lover her as tomboish as she is!"

"Grrrrrrr"

"Grrrrrr"

Both lords sighed as they watched there children argue.

Sighing they both walked into the lords chambler and shut the door behind them.

"Well should we call it off?" Kagome's father asked

"I don't know they seem to get along rather well dont you think Angus?" he asked chucklin'.

"I want my daughter to be happy and I dont think it wil turn ou that way, they seem to hate each other already"

"I guess you right Angus. well call it off then." he said with a sigh

"I'm sorry it didnt work out I had such high hope for those two."

"Yes me too, me too"

"So who's to tell them it's called off." Angus asked

"Why don't we let them figure it out them selves, we could get lucky and they might fall inlove with each other." he chuckled

"We could try that." angus agreed. "But what if things happen and he compromises my daughter.?"

"Then they will marry."

"So we could get lucky either way...and I might get my grandchildren before I pass on." Angus chuckled "Oh how Mellie would have loved to see her daughter grow and get married."

"I'm sure she watching" His best friend assured him...and she thinks your doing a wonderful job" He said patting him on the back..."We'll leave on the morrow"

"Why so soon, your welcome to stay."

"Dear old friend i'm getting old, I can't travel as much. Lets just hope our youngons come through and fall inlove so we can get our selfes and heir"

Angus chuckled at that "Alright old man"

Kagome sighed once again oh how she remember that so well...and how furious she was when she finally found out she wasn't betrothed anymore to that horrible man, Inuyasha...This was her time now...time to find her a man, the man of her dreams.
