Fic Title: Manipulated Hearts

Summary: The inro is the summary. The rest you'll just have to wait to find out.

Note: The fic's original name was `I Will Find You'. However, as I wrote the story I realized the title did not fit the story...at all. Anyway, this is very different from the original story I wrote. I'm a bit older now and my writing has (hopefully) matured a bit. I also made some changes to the plot. I like this version much better than my original. I still need someone to beta-read though. This is just the intro so I wasn't so worried about it.

Alright, I've bored you enough. You can read the story now.

Intro (chapter 1): It Begins
-------------

Sick. It was the only word that would describe what she was feeling at that moment. There were other feelings swirling through her; she was dazed, upset, scared. But none came close to the tight, painful knot that had formed in the pit of her stomach. That feeling you get right before you vomit.

But maybe sick didn't go far enough. What words do you use to describe this feeling? What could possibly describe the feeling of watching someone you love die?

But that was what she felt. Her heart knotted painfully to match the feeling in her stomach as she watched him fall. His body arched, almost gracefully, as it disappeared over the edge of a deep cut in the ground.

At that moment, when she could no longer see him, everything froze. The ruined huts of the abandoned village around them disappeared along with all reasonable thought. Flashes of the battle played in her mind. The horrible way the demon had manipulated him, the way it had toyed with his emotions, used her image while she sat, bound by its spell, helpless as it killed him.

With the demon also dead she could feel the binds of the spell slip. In an instant she was up and running towards the edge where he had fallen. She slipped down the side of the small dip and kneeled beside his body.

Everything she was feeling, all the emotions that she had held back with the hope that he might be alright, came rushing at her full force. There was no room for doubt now. There was too much blood, too many gashes, for him to be alive. She didn't vomit; the darkness claimed her before she could.

I know it's short but it's just the introduction. The second chapter is still undergoing intense editing! (Meaning it's half-written and needs a second opinion.)
