Chapter 11: Emotions

It has been a month since Kagome departed back to her time. During this period, Inuyasha has assumed that because the well wouldn't let him through, it wasn't letting her through either. But then again, to his chagrin; he also wondered if she had made any effort to get back through it, in the first place. And yet inspite of his doubts, not even a single day went by without him trying to overcome the well. Nor has his traitorous older brother appeared to him and he hasn't tried searching for the bastard either. Seeing his best friends Miroku and Sango, getting married, hasn't made things any easier for him. Another month goes by before Sesshoumaru finally makes his presence known, but not for the reasons Inuyasha would think. It turns out that he has decided that it would be better for Rin to live in a human village, because he does not believe he is capable of teaching her what she needs, in order to relate to other humans, properly. For this reason, he visits Kaede with Jaken, and has him ask on his behalf, if she would be willing to allow Rin to stay with her. Being the kind old soul that she is, Kaede agrees to it and takes Rin, who happens to already be there with Jaken, in immediately. Jaken leaves shortly after, before returning to Sesshoumaru who is waiting outside of the village, with the good news.

“She has agreed to take her in, Sesshoumaru Sama,” he reports, dutifully. Sesshoumaru replies in a monotone voice, “Good, I wish to leave here before my brother discovers my presence.” “Why have you been avoiding him so, Me Lord? I thought you two had buried your hatred for each other long ago.” “Inuyasha is an idiot and an ungrateful hanyou and I do not care to give audience to stupid, unappreciative, rabid mutts.” Jaken replies, “You're saying the same thing Me Lord, only in a different way…” Sesshoumaru casts a quick and threatening glare in the parade-raining little toad's direction. “…Silence Jaken,” he replies powerfully. Suddenly out of nowhere, a sarcastic voice pierces the evening air, “Stop pretending like I'm not here, Bastard.” Jaken looks up only to notice that Inuyasha is sitting high above them in a large, tall tree. By the time he looks back down, Sesshoumaru is no longer in front of him. He looks around in a panic before finally looking back up again. He spots Sesshoumaru, now standing in front of Inuyasha, in the tree, where he is still sitting. It happens so swiftly that Inuyasha is taken by surprise. He gazes up at his older brother momentarily, with a startled expression, before suddenly replacing it with a look of obstinacy. “You are not worthy of my attention Inuyasha,” Sesshoumaru utters coldly as he gazes down upon him. Inuyasha responds sardonically, “Then why are you standing here right now, giving it to me?” Sesshoumaru refrains from replying for a moment. Instead he continues to stare down at Inuyasha with an apathetic expression. He eventually replies blandly, “You ARE worthy of my claws melting the flesh off of your bones.”

Sesshoumaru briskly fly's towards Inuyasha, attempting to feel in the space between them, so that he can slice at him with his claws, but Inuyasha jumps high up and over Sesshoumaru right before he is close enough to take aim. He ends up behind Sesshoumaru with his back turned to him, about to leap off of the branch. Sesshoumaru turns around quickly before flying at the speed of light, in Inuyasha's direction. He ends up slamming him into a tree from behind, just as Inuyasha is in the first moments of floating back down, to the ground below. Inuyasha expels a loud grunt, as his bones crack underneath the pressure of Sesshoumaru's solid as granite, frame. “…Haven't been getting enough fiber Inuyasha, here's your chance.” “Get off of me you slithering piece of snake shit!” “I will get off of you, but only under one condition.” “What's - hey!” Before Inuyasha can blink an eye, Sesshoumaru grabs his long, silky locks with both hands. He yanks them up, before flinging Inuyasha over him like a sling shot as he performs a backwards somersault, in the air. He releases Inuyasha's hair, sending him hurling to the ground like a humongous asteroid crashing towards the earth.

Inuyasha collides into the ground with colossal force. Sesshoumaru floats through the air until his feet finally touch down onto the floor beneath him. He gazes down upon Inuyasha only to notice that he is lying there, motionless. `He is unconscious,' Sesshoumaru thinks to himself. A tinge of guilt begins to overtake his being. He growls to himself as he jerks his head away, `I hate feeling this way! He deserves it - all of the pain he caused me - completely ignoring me - I am absolutely justified in my actions - he was mine way before he met that hideous ningen! And then he has the audacity to continuously insult this Sesshoumaru - he needed to be taught a lesson!!!' He slowly turns his head before looking back down at him. The resentment in his eyes gradually disappears, and his gaze softens. “Is everything alright Sesshoumaru Sama?” Sesshoumaru turns around calmly in order to fix his gaze on Jaken, “Jaken, go find Ah-Un…and stay with them.” Jaken looks down only to notice Inuyasha lying there, completely unconscious. He gasps as he jumps back dramatically, “What…what?” “Jaken,” “Yes, Me Lord,” Jaken answers compliantly. He scurries off in order to honor Sesshoumaru's request. After he is a reasonable distance away, Sesshoumaru lifts Inuyasha up before placing him over his shoulder. Then he leaps into the air before gliding away very effortless, as if he were a ghost.

- As Inuyasha begins the first stages of waking up, he senses a pleasant feeling of warmth surrounding him. He also senses a warm body snuggled up close to him from behind, along with an arm settled around his waist. Feeling for a moment as if he is in a dream, with his eyes still closed and Sesshoumaru's scent invigorating his nostrils; a comfortable grin gently begins to stream across Inuyasha's face, as he is reminded of good times past. “Mmm…I love you…Sesshoumaru,” he murmurs under his breath. Inuyasha hears a whispered response in his ear, “I love you too…Inuyasha.” His eyes open abruptly and he sits up quickly as he realizes he is not dreaming. Instead, he is in a real cave and as he turns around to see who it is behind him, he realizes that it is indeed Sesshoumaru…in real life. As Inuyasha continues to gaze down at him with bewilderment, Sesshoumaru's eyes unpredictably open to a position already fixed on Inuyasha. He realizes that Sesshoumaru was never really asleep. `When he said he…loved me…was that just a dream?' He jumps to his feet. Sesshoumaru responds to Inuyasha's movements by sitting up. “Why did you bring me here,” Inuyasha exclaims, infuriated. Sesshoumaru's demeanor goes from elegant and refined to passive and childlike, as he uncharacteristically slumps his shoulders, looking away from Inuyasha with a sincerely regretful expression on his alluring face. His lack of armor, along with the lack of other articles that usually cover his kimono, only serves to make his mannerisms more salient.

Finally he responds with atypical meekness, “I knocked you unconscious and… Inuyasha…I...I…” “…You apologize?!” Inuyasha exclaims. He feels so consumed by rage and hurt that his whole face starts to tremble and his eyes began to water, “Why did you do it!” “…because I love you!” Sesshoumaru is so shocked by his own reaction that he places his head down, with embarrassment. In response to Sesshoumaru's humble and sincere countenance along with the words he's just spoken, Inuyasha's anger subsides. After a few moments of silence and staring at him as he stands frozen in place, Inuyasha sighs before walking over to a cave wall that is close to Sesshoumaru. He sits down against it, before crossing his legs Indian style, as he hunches his shoulders over, balances his elbows on his knees, and holds his face in his fisted hands. After a few more moments of silence, he finally asks casually, as he shifts his eyes and head in Sesshoumaru's direction, “So did you know?” Sesshoumaru answers, “…about the miko being from the future…yes, I did.” Inuyasha continues, “I should have known…So that was your aim, to get her to go back to her own time?” “Yes,” Sesshoumaru replies neutrally. After a few more moments of silence, Inuyasha sighs again before mumbling with a blank gaze directed ahead of him, “Why does loving you have to hurt so much?” Thoughts about the times Sesshoumaru left him alone, for long periods of time, feeling rejected, scared and lonely; times when he persecuted him for the Tetsusaiga (although he knew there were other reasons behind it, not just the ones that were in the open) and the times he got so angry over Kagura's honor being insulted, crosses his mind. Sesshoumaru gazes at Inuyasha for a moment, with a look of concern on his face.

Eventually, he stands up before filling in the space between them. He kneels down onto his knees, in front of Inuyasha. Inuyasha continues to stay seated as he gazes up at him with curiosity and subconsciously moves his hands away from his face and down to his sides, onto the floor. Sesshoumaru places his hand gently against Inuyasha's jaw and cheek. He lowers his body some, as he places one of his knuckles to the floor in front of one of his knees. He leans in, before using the tip of his tongue to lick Inuyasha's lips, with one single upwards motion. “Does that hurt?” He asks delicately, afterwards. “No,” Inuyasha replies softly, with a hazy expression and slightly flushed cheeks. Sesshoumaru continues to gaze at Inuyasha, with an intensely enamored expression. Sesshoumaru caresses Inuyasha's face with the back of his fingertips as he whispers tenderly, “How could I ever let a being as beautiful and precious as you, slip through my fingers?” Inuyasha pauses for a moment before whispering in reply, “What am I supposed to do, I feel so ambivalent?” “Surrender to me, Inuyasha,” Sesshoumaru responds with gentle persuasion. Inuyasha groans in reply as he turns his head away from Sesshoumaru's hand dramatically, “I can't.” Sesshoumaru's hand pushes Inuyasha's face back towards him, “Yes, you can…Inuyasha. When this Sesshoumaru said he loved you, he was not being facetious.” A silent message is exchanged between them before a warm grin appears upon Inuyasha's face. Then he bites his lip as Sesshoumaru smiles back, seductively. With a brief spark of playfulness in his eyes, Sesshoumaru moves in steadily, before finally pressing his lips down lightly, upon Inuyasha's.

The kiss is chaste but delicious, closed but sweet. It is permeated with the kind of love that is heavenly and eternal. Inuyasha is overwhelmed with emotion as he senses pure energy reach deep down into him before seemingly enveloping his very soul. After a few moments of floating in suspended animation, everything suddenly comes back to life, as Sesshoumaru's lips depart. “You take my breath away,” Inuyasha sighs with Sesshoumaru's hand still affectionately hugging the side of his face. Sesshoumaru replies with a cunning grin, “I'm just getting started.” Suddenly, with a flash, they are transported out of the cave. The next thing Inuyasha knows, he's standing on a youki cloud, with Sesshoumaru's arms wrapped around his waist and the earth far beneath them, in a starry, moonlit sky.

Inuyasha gasps lightly as he peers over the side of the cloud and realizes how high up, they actually are. “Why are you so afraid, Inuyasha? If you fell off, you would just float down …and if you did not, I would be there to save you.” His expression transforms from one of slight terror to one composed of a seductively slick grin and a saucy gaze. Inuyasha utters with playful irreverence, “You sure do know how to smooth talk a hanyou out of his pants, don't you?” After putting his head down for a moment, he looks back up. With a timid grin and puppy-dog eyes, he utters, “Ya know…I kinda love you too…” After gazing at Inuyasha, completely mesmerized, Sesshoumaru responds as he peers into Inuyasha's eyes profoundly, “Kami, you are so wonderful.” With an alluring, half-lidded gaze, Inuyasha locks his wrists together behind Sesshoumaru's neck. Sesshoumaru abruptly pulls Inuyasha's hips close to his. “Mmm…” Inuyasha groans quietly with the sudden eruption of vibrant sensation radiating through his groin, from the impact. After a short burst of energy, they both begin to kiss with unhurried passion and sensuality.
