"So. . .where is this place?" Kagome asked as she followed Inuyasha out into a field. The sun was after going down and the hanyou had told Kagome that there was a field they could sleep in for the night. "And why the hell is it so far away?"

Inuyasha chuckled. "I can't tell you. . .all I know is that when I found it a year back it reminded me of you." He sat down on a rock in the middle of the field and crossed his legs. "I really think your going to like it."

Kagome nodded and sat down to one side of the rock. "So this is where we will sleep?"

"Yup."

"Awesome." Kagome lies in the grass and put her hands behind her head and looked up at the stars. "I can't believe you actually wanted to do this."

Inuyasha smiled and lay down next to the miko. "We need to catch up. . .and your still grieving right? I'd like to help you through all that. . .now that you aren't with Hojo anymore and stuff you need someone there, ne?"

"You are actually making sense, Inuyasha." Kagome looked over at the hanyou and smiled.

"Kagome. . .I've been meaning to ask you something." Inuyasha said as he rolling over on his side facing Kagome. "Why did you leave?"

Kagome kept her eyes on Inuyasha, she wasn't expecting him to ask her that, but luckily she had already sorted it out before she even dreamt anyone would ask it to her. "If I tell you the truth. . .will you promise not to use it against me?"

"Why would I?" Inuyasha answered, giving Kagome a puzzling look.

"I thought that I was of no need to you anymore. . .and when I say you. . .I don't mean Sango and the others like I usually do. . .I mean. . .you, you; Inuyasha." Kagome turned her gaze away from the flustered hanyou back up to the stars. "I was scared that if I stuck around too long after that you would get mad because I was there. . .you no longer needed me. . ." she held the Shikon no Tama up in front of her eyes. "The pieces where all found. . .and you were after saying many times that I was only your `shards detector'. So I felt unwanted and left. . .plus Kaede told me that if the Shikon no Tama wasn't out of the feudal era soon you would try and take it to become full youkai. . .so I felt it as my duty to take the jewel away from here."

"Kagome. . .you do realize that. . .when you left. . .the jewel was the last thing on my mind." Inuyasha told her.

Kagome looked at Inuyasha. "What do you mean?"

"Now. . .this time you have to promise ME that you won't use my answer against me." Inuyasha said with a small smirk.

"I promise."

"After I met you. . ." Inuyasha stopped looking at Kagome and moved his eyes towards the ground. "The wants of becoming full anything left me. I wanted to become human for Kikyo because that's what she wanted me to be. . .and I wanted to become full youkai to suit my own needs. But you; you liked me the way I was. You stuck by me even though I was hanyou most of the time. . .human on a night. . .and youkai when I lost Tetsaiga. So all the time we were looking for the shards was pretty much an excuse to keep you here. And wanting to kill Naraku was no longer to get MY revenge, it was for Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Koga, and all of the others who had suffered because of him; because at that time, and still now, Kikyo meant nothing to me, it was all you."

Kagome felt tears welling in her eyes at this point, she had no idea the hanyou felt that way. . .and she was so surprised that he would just come right out and say it. She felt his golden eyes back on her so she looked over.

"Oh great, now what's wrong?" Inuyasha hissed when he say the tears in the miko's eyes.

"I had no idea you felt that way." Kagome answered him as she sat up straight. "Inuyasha. . ."

Inuyasha sat up too; he looked Kagome straight in the face without blinking. "I've been feeling that way for years Kagome. I just haven't allowed myself to believe it."

The two started to lean closer together, the space between their faces started to get smaller. Then something happen, the bushes began to rattle, making the two look over at the edge of the field. A man popped out of the bushes, looking at Kagome wide eyed. Kagome's breathe caught in her throat, up until now she had forgotten. "Koga. . ."
