InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Moonlight Sonata ❯ Chapter 1

It is four months since the Shikon no Tama has been used, and it hangs around a hanyous neck on a silver cord. The blue-eyed half demon grins at her lover, her hand over her well rounded belly.

A monk with deep blue eyes and black hair that is tied back into a small pony tail walks in with his wife, the demon hunter. She as well has a round belly.

A tall kitsune sits in the corner with colored pencils, silently drawing the demon cat in an old priestess’ lap.

Kagome reaches into a large yellow bag to her right and pulls out a few boxes of food, handing one to each of her friends. Shippo looks up from his drawing and carefully places it to the side, nodding with a small “Arigato.”

Inuyasha let Kagome sit in between his legs, her back resting against his chest as they shared breakfast, feeding each other a bit of egg once in a while. Sango leaned on her beloved Miroku, both also shared each others breakfast. Shippo gave bits and pieces of his breakfast to Kirara, Keade quietly feasting on her own.

When Inuyasha finished his breakfast, he protectively wrapped an arm around Kagome’s chest and playfully nibbled the black tip of her ear. Kagomes’ ears twitched and she let out a small giggle as she continued to eat. Sango smiled at the two, then her cheeks turn a bright red when Miroku began to whisper in her ear. Shippos’ cheeks had turned bright red, considering his incredible sense of hearing had picked up Mirokus’ dirty words.

“I love you Inuyasha.” Kagome said softly as she rested her head on his shoulder when she finished her breakfast.

“I love you too.” He replied, wrapping both his arms around her and pressing his lips to her temple. Mirokus’ thumb gently stroked the delicate skin of Sangos’ hand as he continued to whisper sweet nothings in her ear. Keade had finished her breakfast and returned to her pose with Kirara so Shippo could finish his artwork.

Miroku smirked as he could hear that Sangos’ breathing had become heavier and quicker. Her deep brown eyes glazed over with lust as she stared up at him. Miroku helped her stand and took her by the hand and lead her out of the hut and into the forest where they could not be seen.

“Done.” Shippo said, a satisfied smile on his face as he lifted the picture to show Keade.

“Ye have done well, Shippo.” Keade smiled at the Kitsune and pushed herself up to stand. “I believe I’d best be off to the fields. Ye have a nice day.” Keade smiled, the lines in her face grew as she did. Shippo got to his feet and stretched.

The young fox demon had grown quite a bit over the course of four years. He was as tall as a fifteen year old human, and he had the looks for it too, however he was much younger. His long orange hair was still tied back with a green ribbon, his emerald green eyes shone brilliantly beneath his thick lashes.

“I think I’m gonna go play with Kirara.” Shippo said and stepped outside, the cat demon following him with silent foot steps.

“What are the chances..” Inuyasha breathed into his wife’s ear. Kagome inhaled sharply, her cheeks turning a slight shade of pink. Kagome tilted her head to the side, letting her husband trail kisses over her neck. He quickly, though carefully turned her around and placed her on her back, his mouth quickly finding hers. He parted her lips with his tounge, feeling Kagome’s tounge quickly meet his own.

Kagome felt Inuyasha slide his hand down her body, slipping his fingers beneath her panties. She let out a gasp of pleasure as she felt his fingers enter her.

Hours later, a sweaty Kagome had her arms wrapped around an equally sweaty Inuyasha. Their clothes had been carelessly tossed into a corner, Kagome’s sleeping bag hid their naked forms.

“I-Inuyasha?” Kagome studdered, twirling a strand of his white hair around her index finger.

“Yes?” He said, his thumb gently rubbing her cheek.

“I love you.”

“I love you too, Kagome.”

Kagome pressed her lips to his softly, then rested her head on his chest and shut her eyes. Inuyasha stroked her hair, soothing her into sleep, quietly drifting off himself.

It wasn’t until an hour before nightfall did Shippo return, his cheeks turned bright red at the image before him, but he quietly sat across from the sleeping pair and began to cook dinner.

After setting a pot of water over a small fire, Shippo scooped up his colored pencils and a piece of paper and began to sketch the couple beneath a sleeping bag. Miroku and Sango had quietly come in two hours later, admiring Shippo’s artistic ability.

“That’s very nice Shippo, great detail.” Miroku said softly, trying not to wake Inuyasha and Kagome as he poured warm soup into a few small wooden bowls for himself and the two others. Sango grinned and took a bowl of soup from Miroku, and nodded in agreement. “You capture them well.” Sango said.

Shippo thanked them and continued to sketch the couple, his pony tail hanging over his left shoulder.

It wasn’t long until Sango and Miroku went to bed themselves, settling across the room from Inuyasha and Kagome. Shippo found that he couldn’t sleep, so when he finished with one pair, he went to the other. He could hear Inuyasha begin to turn and lay on his side, his arm draped over Kagome, the sleeping bag moving to reveal his broad back.

Shippo finished his picture within an hour, then quietly put his supplies away. Shippo then rolled out his sleeping bag which Kagome had so generously bought him, and slipped inside it, welcoming the warmth of the fuzzy fabric.

As he slowly faded away into the depths of his mind, he could have sworn he heard music, not too far way.

Sesshoumaru had finally gotten Rin to sleep. She’s been sick for two days, and whatever he’d given her to eat would be quickly vomited back up. A simple sleeping draft wasn’t enough to help her, he knew that much. So during the night, Sesshoumaru sent Jaken to find help.

Sesshoumaru did not question why he was so worried. This little girl was like his daughter, he thought to his surprise. He would not give up his daughter.

Hours passed quickly, and just before the rays of sunlight peaked over the mountain tops, Jaken came bursting through Rin’s bedroom door, falling at his Lord’s feet.

“Lord Sesshoumaru…I…Have found…A healer.” Jaken gasped, trying to regain his breath. Sesshoumaru looked up from the window and watched closely as a hooded figure stepped quietly into the room, and with the slightest of nods toward himself, stepped to Rin’s bed.

Sesshoumaru, out of reflex, quickly had his hands around the neck of the figure. In the blink of an eye, there was a giant red hand print on his face. It took him a few seconds to realize he’d just been hit, and that he’d let go.

“If you want help, you will not touch me. You will not give me orders, you will do as I say. Is that understood?”

The figure removed its hood and dropped its cloak. Sesshoumaru noticed quickly that this was a female wolf youkai. Her voice was as smooth as silk, her skin was as white as the moon. She looked up at him icily beneath long, thick eyelashes with cold, blood red eyes. Her hair was so blonde it was almost white, and it came into a wavy mass on the floor when she sat. A strange, intricate blue pattern adorned her wrists and ankles. The demon herself was covered with jet black fur, and nothing else.

“How dare you talk to Lord Sesshoumaru that way!!” Jaken screeched, but was quickly silenced by the low voice of Sesshoumaru.

“Do you believe that this Sesshoumaru will tolerate such behavior, especially from one who is lower than himself? Do you really believe I would submit to the orders of a female?” Sesshoumaru glared down at her with the same amount of hatred she’d shown him.

“If you want this child to live, you’re damn right.”

Sesshoumaru’s glare worsened, not because of her smart mouth, but he was forced to admit that if she was the only one who could help Rin, he’d have to obey.

“Okay, start boiling some water, then fetch me some mint and lavender. Quickly! Don’t just gawk!” the youkai snapped. Jaken quickly ran from the room to deliver the orders.

A maid had already set a small bowl of cold water next to the pale youkai, and its hand reached out for a rag and it began to wash the sweating human’s face.

“How long has she been sick?” the youkai spoke, breaking the awkward silence between the two.

“Two days. She is unable to keep her meals down, her head is unbelievably warm, and she continuously sneezes and coughs.” Sesshoumaru replied, trying to remember all of Rin’s symptoms.

“Ah, she will be fine then.” The youkai nodded, having cured this sickness many a time before. The youkai then gazed up at Sesshoumaru, and sighed. “Forgive me, my name is Aine. There is no need for your name, I’ve heard of you plenty of times to know who you are.”

Sesshoumaru raised an eyebrow, and silently watched from the corner as the wolf demon was given the herbs she’d requested, then began to mix them in a pot of hot water that was set at her right side.

“Sesshoumaru, if you would please send for a change of clothes for this girl, and then leave the room. I must give her fresh things to wear if she is indeed going to get better.”

Sesshoumaru nodded, though he was almost reluctant to leave the room, but he did. He waited outside the door, every once in a while hearing a sneeze or a cough from his little girl.

It was three days since we’d last visited the small group of friends, who now went quietly about their business beneath the beautiful Autumn sun.

Shippo wrestled with Kirara on the grass, while Sango and Miroku splashed each other in the cold water of the river. Inuyasha and Kagome ate lunch together under a large willow tree over looking their friends.

“Inuyasha, isn’t it nice outside?” Kagome asked stretching her arms. Inuyasha stroked her arm with his thumb as he took another bite from a peanut butter sandwich Kagome had made him.

“Yeah, I guess so. Kinda cold, but whatever.” He said with some difficulty, considering his mouth was still full. Kagome playfully nudged him in the side and she could here him give a low appreciative chuckle, though it quickly stopped as he swallowed his sandwich and sniffed the air.

“…Do you smell that?” Inuyasha asked, a low growl erupting from his throat.

“Yes…isn’t that a wolf youkai?” Kagome asked, trying to recognize the demon’s smell. Inuyasha nodded and bared his teeth as he saw a large demon covered with dark brown fur run up to them, stopping about ten paces away.

Inuyasha stood in front of Kagome protectively, Shippo having sensed the demon as well, was quickly at his side, Kirara at the other.

“What the hell do you want?” Inuyasha asked cracking his knuckles.

“Are you Inuyasha?” the demon asked, his brown tail swishing back and forth, his light brown hair seemed to be sawed off at the top of his head.

“Who wants to know?” Inuyasha replied, still guarding his wife from the demon in front of him.

“Lord Saruwatari requests your presents.” The demon stated, standing where he was, making no inclination that he wished to fight.

“What for?” Inuyasha asked, loosening up a little. Why in the world would the wolf Lord need him?

“He requests you and your friends to attend the ceremony for the death of Prince Kouga and Princess Ayame.”
