Chapter 5 ~ Job Offer

When Autumn woke up, she found herself lying on a tatami mat wearing a black and red yukata. He…my clothes…DAMN HIM! She thought wildly. Although she had to admit that it looked very pretty, she was still creeped out by this whole Naraku business.

Speak of the devil…

Naraku came through the door at that moment looking very pleased with himself. “She awakens,” he said, taking his place by her side.

Autumn shot up. “Who…who…who…”

“Curb your tongue, wench,” Naraku drawled. “You sound like an owl.”

This only added to her fury. “WHO CHANGED ME, NARAKU?” she asked, grabbing him by the front of his kimono and giving him a shake.

Naraku grinned as he took this into consideration, but made no move to answer.

In panic, Autumn shook him and said, “ANSWER ME!”

“Kagura did,” he said finally.

Autumn didn't know who Kagura was, but she was very relieved it hadn't been Naraku. Slowly, she released the fabric of his top and backed away. “How long have I been out?”

His grin danced like a menacing imp. “Two days.”

“All right…so you've had your fun. Can I please go home now?”

Naraku laughed unpleasantly. “I think not, wench. You work for me now.”

“Work for you?” Autumn said. “WORK for you? I HATE YOU! Besides I have a job. I work at a fast food place!” She had to admit that she didn't like that job much either, but at least her manager wasn't NARAKU. The worst she had to deal with over there was the snotty cashier that kept trying to hit on her.

“In that case, I relieve you of your previous job,” he said.

Excuse me?!

“You can't do that!” Autumn screamed. “You don't own me! Besides, what use does a demon have for a human? Huh? What could I possibly do to help you?” Immediately, she realized that this question could be taken the wrong way, and she hoped he wouldn't say anything…hentai at the least.

“Ah, but that's where you're wrong wench,” Naraku said gleefully. You're not human anymore.”

“WHAT?”

Autumn ran to a mirror hanging on the far wall and gasped. Her hazel eyes were now a bright gold, her fingers were clawed at the tip and from the crown of her newly silver-streaked hair she had.. KITTY EARS.

“I'm a cat?” she yelped.

“A cat hanyou,” Naraku said, moving to stand behind her.

“What's a hanyou?” Autumn asked suspiciously.

“A half-demon. Since you were previously human, the shard couldn't transform filth like you into a full demon.” Naraku looked over her, appraising her, and added, “But I will tell you one thing. That form does you justice.”

“What are you doing?” she asked, as he placed his hands on her shoulders.

“I want you to look at something,” he said, steering her away from her reflection towards the window.

Autumn was intrigued, although she wasn't comfortable that Naraku felt he could touch her in such a familiar way. “What am I supposed to be looking at?”

“Don't talk. Just look,” was his only response.

Autumn did look, squinting. It looked like there was a small party moving. One boy decked out completely in red seemed to be leading the group with a girl dressed in green and white at his side. By the looks of things they were arguing while the others stayed a safe distance behind. “Wait a minute…KAGOME?!” she shouted.

“HAH!” Naraku shouted. “So you DO know the miko wench.”

She did not respond, only continued looking out. How had Kagome gotten here? Had she been kidnapped as well? Kagome certainly didn't look as though she'd been kidnapped.

Autumn turned her attention back to Naraku. What is he doing now?

Naraku pulled her into a bizarre sort of embrace, resting his chin on her head. Autumn shuddered. His black hair was tickling her sensitive ears. “Yes, gaze upon them well, my little hanyou pet,” he said in a soft whisper. “For your first task from me is to kill them all.”
