Kumiko: Hi everybody!!! This is my fanfic! This chapter is kinda short so it's more of a prologue. If I owned Inuyasha I would be a millionaire, which obviously I'm not. Since this is my first fic, please go easy on me! ^_^;;;

Chapter 1: War

"Kikyo, is this the one?"

"Yes." Kikyo replied. "We need to wait just a little longer, Kagome."

"You think it'll be as weak as the last one?" Kagome asked.

" Honestly, I don't know."

The twins turned their attention back to the valley below. They were silent for a time.

"Now?"

"…Yes. Now."

Inutaisho sighed and put down his brush pen. He'd been at counting the troops, rationing the supplies, and everything else he was too tired to remember right now, for days. His soldiers needed supplies and they needed it now. The troops very already starved for nourishment and slowly wearing down. Also, he needed more human slaves transferred to the eastern fleet. On top of that many of his people have been rendered homeless by more raids of the Wolf-demons. The Inuyoukai kingdom was in a bad economic situation. He knew warring with the wolves was going to bring down the economy when he first made the decision of war, but he didn't expect the wolves to be so persistent.

Of course he had Sesshomaru for help, but he was always on the battlefield. He always wanted to show he was better than his younger brother Inuyasha, but Inuyasha never did anything to provoke him. Instead of lending a helping hand or taking responsibility for something Inuyasha was always running around, playing tricks, or just ignoring everyone.

Sometimes he wondered about that boy.

"Oh well." Back to counting swords.

About an hour passed and Inutaisho worked diligently. He was starting to think everything was under control when he heard loud footsteps approaching his quiet study and a few seconds later Sesshomaru burst through the sliding door {he was at home that day to rest up} and a couple of a officials followed closely behind.

"What is the meaning of this?" Inutaisho demanded "The doors are made of paper, if you didn't notice before."

"My apologies father." Sesshomaru said quickly "But it's an emergency."

Inutaisho inwardly groaned. "What is it?" He said in an exasperated voice.

" Those human mikos, the Higurashi Sisters I think they're called, they liberated another slave unit." Sesshomaru scowled at the thought of humans, mikos even, taking down over 25 full-grown youkai.

He let the information sink in. "Great, That's the third one this month." The over-worked Ruler sighed for what seemed like the hundredth time today. "Alright, how many did they kill?"

" None actually." This time it was an official who spoke up. "In fact they never killed any in any of the other attacks either."

"All the soldiers escaped with only minor wounds, if none at all." Another one of the royal staff had finally gotten the courage to speak.

That was strange, he thought. Usually those who tried to free the humans had never hesitated to kill youkai in the process. In fact, they were prone to do that. And when did mikos of all creatures get so strong? Have they liberated any slaves to the Wolf-demons?

"Oh, and sir? About the recent wolf demon attacks…."

Great. More work.

Kumiko: That went better than I expected. When I thought of the plot of this fic, my first thought of Kikyo was "Kill `er!" , but I decided to make her a good guy …umm…girl. Heh heh…. Anyway even if you like Kikyo, if you're an Inu-fan, you're a friend of mine! Please R&R!!!
