After a few hours of walking about the streets, he could no longer take the way his mind strayed back to that infernal woman. She wasn't one to forget if their ever had been. If he was lucky the heavens would take mercy on him and end his life now. Much to his dismay, his misery gave them too much entertainment to give him the satisfaction of making his life easy. InuYasha sullenly reached in his pocket, searching amongst the silken inner layer for his cigarettes and lighter. Taking in a brief second to suck back nicotine before he strode into his hotel room. The crisp air rested on his lightly tanned flesh, leaving a small tinge of pink over his face. A crowd of people swamped the lobby as he crushed his cigarette below his worn converse. Several faces seemed familar as they all filed in waiting for the hotel clerk to give them keys to their rooms. The young man stuffed his frozen hands into his warmed pockets, taking in his surroundings. Laying his eyes on a splatter painting hung on the left wall. Except for that "masterful" piece of work the walls were simple, and white. Reminding him of his old room when he lived with his parents before they died in a car wreck a few years back.A small frown crept over his lip while he lead himself down the smothering hallway to his room. It was only his second night there and he already wanted out, everything he once held dear to him was lost outside that building. His parents, his mind, and the one thing that held him together.

His fathomless brown eyes, trailed over rusted door numbers as he approached his room. A pair of rough housing boys jolted down the hall way along side him, giving him a brief moment where he didn't have to think. His large hand pressed firmly against the wall as he delved back into his pocket for the key. Injecting it into the propper hole, cranking it around until he heard the satisfing click of enterance.InuYasha's tired body strided over towards his bed, not taking the time to remove his long jacket, and fell face first into the soft mattress. His sore eyes, glanced over towards the clock reading it's painfully early time. 4:57 in the afternoon.Even with all of the coffee consumtion, and hours of wandering it still was rather early in the day. A nagging in the back of his head, made him wonder why the hell he was even there. No one was there, he had no real purpose except maybe to get away from his brother and narcisstic girlfriend. but that was the only reason he could push through his head. He forced it down that he hadn't come back every year to see if the one thing he wanted more than life it's self, had returned. Yet he still knew that would be the reason he always came back, waiting for her to give him another chance. The desperation behind it killed him, he thought of himself as a wandering dog searching for their long-lost owner.

"It was seven years ago.." InuYasha mummbled hopelessly into the thick sea of blankets, voicing his thoughts. "Why the hell do I still feel the same as the day it happened. Kinda feels like I should be locked up in the mad house."

He rustled his body about until he figured out he wouln't be comfortable, too many thoughts made that nearly impossible. The complex situation he was in made no sense in his far too simple mind, making him regret the day he ever laid eyes on Kagome. Maybe first loves aren't suppose to be buried away in the furthest reaches of the mind, although at some points it did come in handy to lock them away. The love-struck fool lay in his bed, staring at the dusty ceiling rummaging through his pockets, until he found the stained napkin Sango had left for him.

~* Kagome and Ayame*~

Kagome sat on the edge of her bed, scanning over the prefurnished apartment with a grin. She'd lived in places like this before, but far worse off. Although the wall paper had began to peel, and the once white tiles in the kitchen-ette were dirtied to a light shade of tan. It was overall a place she wouldn't mind calling home. Her iced blue eyes rested on the street below her window. Taking in the sight of her former refuge, drifting back and forth between the present and past as her eyes guided themselves to the old theatre in the middle of the street. A small smile crept over her lips, and a warm glow settled around her. Delicate twisting of her hair indicated she was lost in thought. Ayame noticed her dazed state and in an attempt to bring her back to earth she pounded her fist against her room mate's door.

"Time to wake up!" The red head smiled, leaning against the door frame.Kagome jumped settling into a dark shade of blush.

"Fuckin' hell Ayame!" Her eyes narrowed, sending a death glare towards the girl next to the door.

"No time to be nostalgic, not when we need to find a job." The taller woman said, shedding a toothy grin.Taking in the fact Kagome must have been in some sort of wonderland for her to even consider herself blushing.

"What?" Kagome inquired, pulling her hair out of the bun. letting it drift angelicly over her shoulders.

"You were thinking about him again.." She blinked her green eyes curiously." Weren't you?"

"Ayame. What do you take me for? A hopeless romantic with her mind stuck nearly ten years in the past? Oh my god, listen to me, I'm ranting. He's nothing. Was nothing.and if I saw him again. He would still be nothing." The dark haired woman stood up flailing her arms about, not being able to look her friend in the eye.Nervously pacing the room.

"Come on Kagome, it's written all over your face." Ayame smirked, feeling triumphant in making her friend get worked up."You are just mad because he's the one that messed up your plan for never falling in love. With that said, you need to move on and get a grip. How come so much time has passed and you still wonder if he's waiting for you?"

Kagome sighed heavily and grabbed a pink umbrella layed on the counter. Sulking over towards the door, every now and then glaring back at Ayame. Whom retorted with nothing more than a snicker. "I'm right other wise you would have kicked me or completely kicked my ass by now."

Kagome ran her fingers through her waist length hair, her eyes never leaving the tiled floor.

"I'm going over towards Sango's, I called her mother and she said she moved back into town." The denim of her jacket raising up as she shrugged." She lives a few blocks down on Stella St. fifth house on the right, with Miroku." A light grin grazing her lips, her eyes twinkling as she met with Ayame's own shocked expression.

"Tell Sango, I'm going to come by tomorrow. I've got too much to do here with the cleaning and job hunting and oh what else was there? " Ayame stood making undescribably stupid faces trying to remember what she'd forgotten. Kagome found it to be the perfect opportunity to escape before she was suckered into staying. Almost skipping down the stairs to get away from the neurotic girl. In complete disbeilef that she was able to still hold a steady boyfriend. Yet it suprised her even more so how much she still held a desire to be with that idiot.
