Chapter ten: A Field of Lavender

InuYasha smiled in his warm slumber. He wasn't dreaming. He'd had a dreamless night. He smiled knowing of Kagome's presence. He could tell that he'd saved her He was able to trust her more.
Kagome opened her eyes. She noticed that it was still dark. She left the bed leaving a disturbed hanyou who still lay resting. The next thing she did she didn't expect. She screamed at the top of her lungs.

InuYash a's ears twitched. InuYasha jumped up. He followed her screams as fast as he could and when he got there he found Naraku.
Naraku let Kagome go since he'd grabbed her by the neck. He wanted to fight InuYash and that was why he made Kagome scream in seering pain.
InuYasha let a growl erupt from his throat. "Give up or I'll just rip you to shreds! You've done to much as it is!" InuYasha yelled and charged forward with Tetsuiga withdrawn.
Naraku grinned. He hopped back. "Watch your step you filthy hanyou." He hissed.
InuYasha snorted at the rude remark. "WIND SCAR!" He called out a power from his sword. "What!? How could I miss!?"
Naraku gave a cocky smirk. "Stubborn hanyou." Naraku threw his own attack.
InuYasha laughed. "You missed!"
"Oh, I hit her alright." Naraku evilly chuckled.
InuYasha gasped and turned. To his horror he saw Kagome was the one he attacked.
Kagome had a pool of blood surrounding her. She was unconcious. That was a fact.
InuYasha yelled out of rage. "YOU HURT KAGOME AND NOW, YOU'LL PAY!"
Naraku hissed in pain after InuYasha attacked him in pure outrage. Naraku threw wild punches not aiming. He only hit InuYasha twice.
Eventually InuYasha defeated Naraku. He panted and ran to Kagome. 'Did my dream...Come to reality?' He thought to himself. He picked Kagome's limp form up. Her beautiful lavender and wildflower scent was tinted with blood.
"It was my fault! I failed to protect you!" InuYasha whined. He pulled Kagome into a embrace. His eyes went to shock. 'Her heartbeat...I-I can feel it..'
"InuYasha, what's wrong?" Kagome asked as she looked up to InuYasha.
"Nothing." InuYasha said gratefully. He stood up with Kagome in his arms bridal style. "Here put these shards with the others." InuYasha said as he handed over the shards Naraku had. He looked ahead. "The village is a two day travel..We'll start our journey to it after you take a bath I'll stand guard nearby." InuYasha announced.~~~~~~~~~.~~~~~~~~~~.~~~~~~~~~~~~.~~~~~~~~~~~~~.
By the end of the day, Kagome and InuYasha were sitting in a field of lavenders. Kagome was beside InuYasha. She held up the jewel. It was whole again. She stood. "InuYasha, I'll be back." Kagome stated and went out of hearing range. "I wish..That all youkai would eventually live equally to hanyou and never outrate them or maybe eventually stop fighting." Kagome finished her wish and the jewel disappeared with a beautiful glow.

InuYasha watched Kagome as she approached. He waited until she was seated by him to ask where she went off to. "so, where'd you go?" He gave her a curious look.
Kagome smiled and replied to InuYasha's inquiry. "I went to wish on the jewel. Now, maybe the youkai and hanyou races will eventually live in peace together. I mean they have no jewel to fight over."
"You wished upon the jewel?" InuYasha asked in shock.
Kagome nodded. "I wished that, all youkai would eventually live equally to hanyou and never outrate them or maybe eventually stop fighting. I didn't want you to become youkai. I like you the way you are." Kagome admitted.
InuYasha looked at Kagome with sympathy. He pulled her into and hug and then pulled her down to the ground.
Kagome laid in InuYasha's embrace. She felt like she belonged there. She hugged InuYasha back.
InuYasha looked down at Kagome and smiled. "I'll never forget you. I trust you, Kagome." He finally admitted over his stubborness.
Kagome's eyes filled with happiness and warmth. Her eyes glimmered under the moonlight. Kagome threw her arms around InuYasha's neck and pressed her lips to his.
InuYasha was shocked by Kagome's actions. He pulled away from her and looked into her eyes.
Kagome blushed and said, "Gomen ne, InuYa-"
Kagome was cut off by InuYasha when he pressed his lips to hers. He pulled away. "Kagome, I'm..in l-love with you.." He kissed her again, but this time with more passion. His tongue begged to explore her mouth.
Kagome allowed his tongue's entrance. She loved him too. She loved his warmth and everything about him. She was glad he trusted her. "I-I also..l-love you..."
One of Kagome's beliefs was that InuYasha and her would never leave each others sides. The two would be happy. Kagome also believed they'd love each other until the end and she was absolutely right.
