Never Thought I'd See You

 

Chapter 1: Prologue

 

Summary: Never Thought I'd See You again. That's what Kagome thought when she lost her best friend to a record deal 3 years ago. Inuyasha thought the same. But never say never, right? Could a " Special" Tokyo concert bring them together? Or only further apart?

 

Ages: Inuyasha 18, Kagome 14/15, Sango 15, Miroku 16

"Kag?!" A 18 year old Inuyasha, called out across the noisy rush of highschool students making their way to last period.

 

The said 14 year old turned her head in the direction she heard her name being called. "Oh, Inuyasha!" She flashed a warm smile at him as he pushed his way through the everyone. He embraced the younger girl in a friendly hug.

 

"How was your first day?" He asked. Kagome just transfered from an all girls school to Kagoshima High. She had attended an all girls private school since the 6th grade, or the start of middle school. After a while, she decided on wavering to a public school. Being away from her friends wasn't what she wanted anymore.

 

"It's been great. I've made lots of new friends." She chirped, smiling. She giggled. She still had the child-like personality. She was still practically a kid at heart. The way she giggled. He loved her laugh. That's what he loved most about her. Besides the fact she was beautiful. Her long wavy black hair that fell to the middle of her back. Her chocolate brown eyes you could drown yourself in. He smiled.

 

"You finding your classes alright?"

 

"Yep! That is, I'm having trouble finding the science lab." She pulled a folded piece of paper out of her red hoodie, handing it to him.

 

"With Mr. Myouga? My last period is a few doors away from the lab. I'll take you there." He tossed the paper back. Tucking it away in her pocket they headed off. Inuyasha mentally sighed. 'How am I supposed the break the news to her?' He glanced at the smiling girl next to him. 'Especially when she came here to be closer to all of us.' They both had known each other since before elementary school. He was a senior in highschool, graduating this year. Kagome in her freshman year. But he had to get this out of the way. "Hey, Kag? You free afterschool?" He asked breaking the silence between the two.

 

"I think I'm free. Why?" She shifted the books in her arms.

 

"'Cause me, Sango and Miroku plan on going out for ice cream, celebrating your first day." He told her, but it wasn't really about celebrating her first day, more like the day that would change her, and himself.

 

"Yeah! I'll come!" She smiled as they arrived the the science lab.

 

"Great! Meet me in the front of the school in a hour. I'll drive you." He hugged her one last time. He took a quick whiff of her hair. It smelt so good, like honey and jasmine. He never wanted to leave this smell behind. He slowly released her, and Kagome walked to the door and was about to turn the nob.

 

"Sure thing, and Inuyasha?" She called to the desending form. He turned around in a quick motion. He raised an eyebrow. "Thanks!" She smiled quickly.

 

He returned the smile before turning the corner. She smiled again before opening the door, entering her last period class, Biology.

The last 45 minutes of the day ended quickly for Kagome. It had been the same all day. Walk in the classroom, everyone turns their head thinking 'oh look, a new kid', teacher makes you introduce yourself, gives you the directions to the assignment and off to work you go. She sighed, rubbing her head. Today was hectic! She was already loaded with homework from just about every class!

 

Dropping her books off at her locker, she desended down the corridor to the outside world. Once out, she took in a deep breath of fresh air, stretching her arms high above her head.

 

"Kag!" A female voice called out. Reconizing the tone, she turned around. A girl around the age of 15 ran towards her, her long black hair flowing in the wind. Kagome gave her a warm smile.

 

"Hey Sango!" The said girl ran into her friend, pulling her into a tight hug.

 

"How were things today? Did anyone give you trouble? 'Cause if they did I'll kick their asses til they're black and blue!" Kagome giggled. That was Sango for ya. She was a little on the protective side. She's been that way ever since 4th grade when Kagome met her.

 

"It was just fine. And no, nobody gave me any crap." She giggled, looking around. "Hey, where's Miroku, I'd think he'd be tagging along with you. Considering how much he, let's just say, likes you." Kagome teased.

 

A blush broke out on Sango's face. It was true, Miroku had practically been tagging along with her since when they were in 7th grade and even now. Ever since he asked her to go out with him when they were in 8th grade and she said point blankly 'no', he never gave up trying to get her to out with him.

 

"Sango!" Both girls turned around.

 

"Speak of the pervert....." Sango rolled her eyes as the out of breath 16 year old came over. Supporting himself with Sango's shoulder, he caught his breath. "Oh, hey Kag. I didn't see you there, but with your outstanding beauty and well rounded -!"

 

WHACK!

 

"Miroku, can't you ever keep our perverted mouth shut?" An irritated hanyou (yes, he's a hanyou) spoke. Kagome jumped at the sound of his voice.

 

"Yeah, Miroku!" Sango smacked him in the back of the head.

 

"Okay, let's go. I've gotta be home by 6 and it's already 4." Inuyasha pushed through the group, heading towards his red Ferrari. Sango kicked Miroku before straiding past the boy on the ground.

 

She snorted. "Idiot." Kagome followed soon behind.

 

"Hey, you guys! Wait for me! Don't leave me in this death place!!" Miroku groaned, still on the ground.

"Okay, Inuyasha. So what are we here for?" Sango asked once everyone had taken a seat with their ice cream desert, Inuyasha's treat, in hand.

 

"I've gotten signed to a recorded deal down in Tokyo." He announced taking a bit out of his banana split.

 

Kagome quickly looked up from her chocolate sundae. "Did you just say 'recorded' deal?" She questioned, hoping that wasn't what she had heard.

 

"Yeah, all these years of hard work finally paid off."

 

"Con-gradu-lations." Sango said inbetween bits of her sundae.

 

"So your dream finally came true. I'm happy for ya." Miroku patted him on the shoulder. "I always knew you'd get there." Miroku winked.

 

"Kag? You alright?" Sango asked the down girl. Kagome quickly snapped out of thought. Taking in the words, she answered.

 

"Um...y...yeah. I'm just peachy." She put a reassuring smile on her face. Sango smiled back. But she wasn't 'just peachy'. Her best friend had just been signed to a record deal. That meant he would be moving to Tokyo! They lived in Kagoshima. Tokyo was all the way across Japan! They'd been together practically their entire lives, and this would be the last they'd see of eachother. For who knows how long? Or never again?

Today was the day... Kagome sighed as she watched her friends bid farewell to Inuyasha. She didn't want to say goodbye.

 

"...And don't you forget to call us! Just because you got signed to this deal doesn't mean you can forget about your friends!" Sango patted him on the shoulder, before taking him into a hug.

 

"Ya, ya. I know." He hugged her back. Sango pulled back. Leaving only Miroku and Kagome to say goodbye/farewell.

 

"Good luck. See ya whenever." Miroku patted him on the shoudler.

 

"Same here, Miro."

 

Inuyasha turned around to face Kagome. 'Man is this gonna be hard.' He sighed as she walked into his arms, wrapping her arms around him. He gently wrapped his arms around her small form. The past two days were something he'd never forget. Kag's 15th B-day party. The four of them had had a blast. After the party and all, he took her out to a french restaurant, just the two of them.

 

"I'm gonna miss you." Kagome spoke into his chest.

 

"I'm gonna miss you, too." He sighed. He felt her shake. She gulped. She was crying. God how he hated it when she cried.

 

"Come on, Kag. Don't cry. Please." He tightened his grip round her.

 

"I don't w...want you to go." She sobbed, trying her hardest to hold back the tears that just kept on coming.

 

"I would take you with me if I could... but you know I can't. Sango and Miroku need you." He used his thumb to rub small circles. She quickly wipped the tears away with the back of her hand. He slowly pulled back.

 

She looked down, fingered the gold heart locket he had given her. He lifted her chin. Her flawless face was strained from crying. Using his thumb, he wipped away a stray tear that had escaped. "I'll call you... I promise." He leaned down and gently took her lips into his.

 

Kagome stiffened. Realization swept over her. Inuyasha was actually kissing her! Her first kiss! With the person she loved! She came back to reality, returning the kiss. He pulled back. "I'll promise to come and visit."

 

He walked over the the awaiting limo. He mouth something she couldn't make out before closing the door behind him.

 

"Wait!" Kagome called as she opened the limo door. Inuyasha looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "I've got something for you." Opening her handbag, she grabbed a box, handing it to him.

 

He glanced down at the box and then back up at Kagome. She nodded. "Open it." Obeying, he opening the box, to find a gold watch. "Turn it over." She smiled.

Was inbedded in the back. He smiled. "Thanks, Kag. I'll always wear it." He hugged her one last time. She stepped back, letting him close the limo door.

 

"I love you." She whispered. Tears whelled up in her eyes again. Sango came over to her and hugged her, whispering soothing words in her ear.

 

Kagome pulled away long enough tp see the limo starting to pull away.
