Toshi and his group were walking in the mountains. They walked past the remains of buildings and destroyed cars. Toshi decided to walk to the village in order to give himself time to fully regain his powers. He looked over the Kanna who was walking besides him. Toshi thought of the time they spent alone with each other before finding Satsuki. He thought back to a night he asked her a important question.
******Flashback(finally another one)******
Toshi and Kanna were sitting in the woods of the feudal era. Toshi lit a fire and looked over to Kanna. She was silent as always. Toshi would always find ways to make her talk. After spending hundreds of years sealed with a bunch of silent souls, he needed the conversation.
“Kanna do you ever have desires?” Toshi asked.
Kanna looked up. “No.”
“There is nothing you want.”
“No.”
“Do you want to continue living?”
“It doesn’t matter if I live or die.”
“Then why do you continue living? When I found you, you were aimlessly wandering around.” Toshi probed.
“I do not know.” Kanna responded.
“If a attempt was made on your life, would you defend yourself.”
“Yes.”
“So your life does mean something to you then.” Toshi smiled.
“I suppose it does.” Kanna said, she wondered how Toshi had the ability to make her think about things, she never thought she would even consider. She watched the fire dance.
“What is it like to not feel any emotions.” Toshi sat closer to her. Kanna didn’t know how to react.
“I do not know, because I don’t know what it’s like to feel emotions.” Kanna answered.
“Do you want to know what it is like.” Toshi asked, he enjoyed Kanna’s company and he didn’t know why.
“No.”
“You have no desire to know what it is like to be happy or sad or angry.” Toshi continued to ask. “To feel satisfaction, fear or hate.” Toshi paused, he hadn’t spoken his next word since he was a small child. “Kanna wouldn’t you like to know what it’s like to love?”
“I have no desire for such things.” Kanna responded. She listened to his deep, resonating voice. For a youkai that seemed evil, he had a side of himself that he probably never shown anyone else. Kanna tried not to pay his talk any mind. But something strange was growing inside her. And she didn’t know what it was.
“There is no such thing as pure nothingness.” Toshi finally said after a long silence. Kanna quickly turned to him. “Everything starts from something. Be it from a tiny seed, or a Mother’s womb. It could even begin from pure light or even darkness. That is something. If you have a desire to live, then you have something else within you.” Toshi looked from the fire into Kanna’s black eyes. “You should try turning that mirror to yourself, you never know what you’ll find in the reflection.” Toshi softly smiled at the white child. She looked back with a impassive expression. She wondered what it was like to smile.
******End Flashback******
Toshi thought of that night. Looking into Kanna’s eyes. Her eyes were hiding a secret and he wondered if she really did turn the mirror on herself.
Kohaku and Kikyou were walking a small distance behind Toshi and Kanna. Kikyou was silent and deadpan as usual. Kohaku walked with his head held down.
‘Kagura said goodbye to me.’ He thought to himself. Suddenly a louder and sinister voice rang out in his head.
‘Boy why do you care about what happens to the wind witch!’ The voice roared.
‘She is my friend.’ Kohaku’s small voice replied.
‘You have no need for friends, they are a weakness. All you need is power!’
‘That’s not true. You family and friends give you all the power you could possibly dream of!’ Kohaku’s voice was getting stronger.
‘Quiet boy!’ The voice roared angrily.
‘I won’t!’ Kohaku took temporary control over his body and reached over and took hold of Kikyou’s arm. He pulled her close and kissed her quickly. Kikyou’s eyes grew wide as she felt part of Kohaku’s soul enter her body. Kohaku released the kiss and the evil spirit regained control of the body.
‘Disobedient wrench!’ The spirit thought and continued walking, it hadn’t realized what Kohaku had done. He stopped and noticed that Kikyou was not by his side. He looked back at Kikyou was standing in the same spot. She was whispering something to herself.
“Kikyou, don’t fall behind!” Kohaku called out. Toshi and Kanna turned when they heard Kohaku’s voice. Toshi joined Kohaku’s side.
“What happened, why has she stopped?” Toshi asked.
“I know not My Lord. That boy somehow took control of this body and did something to her.” Kohaku explained. Toshi walked slowly towards Kikyou who was now silent.
“Kikyou?” Toshi said.
Kikyou’s head was down, her bangs shrouding her eyes in darkness. Kikyou’s mind was swarming with images of Kohaku, Naraku and the Shikon no Tama. As she watched the images something began to stir.
‘Remember Kikyou.’ Kohaku’s voice called out within her. ‘Remember that you are the priestess Kikyou.’
‘I am the priestess Kikyou.’ She thought to herself. ‘K-Kohaku?’ Memories swam back to her suddenly. She remembered Kohaku, and Naraku. She remembered her sister, Kaede. And the Shikon no Tama and the battle to purify it. But most of all she remembered Inuyasha. ‘Kohaku I remember.’
‘Good I’m glad, you must get away.’ Kohaku’s voice was growing weaker. It was only a small part of his soul and it began to fade away.
Kikyou didn’t remember the events that took place during the last couple days. ‘Get away from what?’ Kohaku didn’t respond. She looked up to see Toshi staring back at her.
“Who are you demon!” She demanded.

Night had fell upon Kaede’s village. Kagome’s family and friends were allowed to stay in a empty home. Sesshoumaru and Satsuki hadn’t returned from the hill. Kagome, Inuyasha and the others were inside Kaede’s hut. They explained the entire story to her. Ayumi wanted to be part of the group and learn more about her distant cousin. Rin, who enjoyed spending time with Mrs. Higurashi stayed in the hut with her. Yagi was still within her barrier, she hadn’t moved. Everyone thought it was best to leave her alone.
“So this Toshi is the cause behind all this.” Kaede said. “And ye were beginning to live happy lives.”
“Yes, just when we get settled in Kagome’s era.” Miroku began. “Maybe this is just our fate.”
“Why are we just yakking here when he could be finding that Bastard.” Inuyasha growled.
“Inuyasha’s right,” Kagome agreed. “We had better get going before he does something else drastic.” Everyone stood along with Ayumi.
“And where do you think your going!” Inuyasha asked.
“I want to help!” Ayumi pleaded.
“Keh! You’ll just be in the way.” He continued.
“I can fight!”
“Ayumi, this is going to be dangerous.” Kagome reasoned. “You should stay here with Lady Kaede. Ayumi lowered her head in defeat. Inuyasha-tachi left the hut only to be stopped by Sesshoumaru and Satsuki.
“Where are you going.” Satsuki asked.
“Where do you think!” Inuyasha barked. “Kagura said Toshi was just north of here so that’s where we’re going.”
“You cannot defeat Toshi Inuyasha.” Sesshoumaru said coldly.
“Keh, that’s what you think. You think just because Dad wouldn’t, I can’t! I beat that fucking Ryokutsai when he couldn’t.” Inuyasha agrued.
“I will be the one to kill Toshi.” Sesshoumaru said.
“The hell you will! You aren’t going to take over the fight again!” Inuyasha said referring the fight with Sou’unga.
“Stop it, you two!” Kagome finally said impatiently. “You are Brothers and we all are Family we will fight together.” Both Brothers turned to Kagome, she had fire in her eyes. Sesshoumaru turned and began to walk away.
“Hmph, do as you please.” He responded.
Satsuki turned and smiled at Kagome. “Family sticks together huh?” She smiled.
“Always.”
Miroku, Sango and Shippou rode on Kirara’s back. Kagome opted to ride on Inuyasha’s back, she didn’t have the speed he did. Satsuki decided to hold on the Sesshoumaru as he glided above ground although she had the same ability, he was protective of her and their unborn child. They traveled for hours until the smell of blood stopped Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru in their tracks.
“Hey what’s going on.” Sango called.
“Blood, familiar blood.” Inuyasha said and bolted in the direction of the scent.

Kikyou struggled to keep her balance. She held the blood soaked wound that was at her side.
“Foolish woman.” She said to herself. Kohaku’s small soul used it’s last bit of strength to show Kikyou images of Toshi vicious attacks. She knew he was powerful but she drew her sword against him anyway. He didn’t hesitate to strike her down. ‘But why let me escape?’ She thought to herself. She was sorry she couldn’t help Kohaku. She was sorry about everything. She wished she could tell everyone that.
“Kikyou!” She could barely hear the voice that called out to her the voice that sounded so familiar.
Inuyasha bounded out from the trees to see Kikyou standing alone and covered in blood. He called out to her but she didn’t turn his way. He and Kagome ran up to her. Kikyou turned to see Inuyasha and kagome by her side. Kikyou noticed that Kagome was different then before. Kikyou smiled only slightly and collapsed to the ground. Sango and Miroku quickly followed their friends to Kikyou’s side.
“Kikyou!” Kagome said as she fully realized the extent of Kikyou’s injuries. Kikyou’s looked up to Kagome a soft smile creeping along her lips. Kagome and Inuyasha were together, just as he wanted. Inuyasha and Kagome knelt besides her.
“Inu...yasha,” Kikyou choked out.
“Kikyou, you know who I am?” Inuyasha asked surprised.
Kikyou lightly chuckled. “Thanks to Kohaku.”
Sango cried out. “Kohaku, where is he, does he remember too!”
Kikyou shook her hand, and began to cough up blood. Inuyasha placed a sincere hand on her shoulder. Kikyou didn’t look at him. She smiled at the taijiya. “Don’t worry I’ll take care of him.”
“How the hell do you expect to do that when your like this.” Inuyasha argued.
“When the time comes.” She answered softly. Finally she looked up to Inuyasha. “There is so much I want to say, but won’t have the chance.” She began to slump further to the ground. “Please forgive me Kagome...Inuyasha.” Kikyou finally fell over, she wasn’t completely satisfied, but at least she got to say she was sorry, maybe they would see each other again in another life.
The gentle breeze carried Kikyou’s soul away.
I think I’m pretty evil, Kikyou has died for the third time. I tried to make her last time a little more peaceful (I do have a heart). We are nearing the end of our story but also the beginning of a new one. I hope I have earned enough faithful readers for you to follow this story into it’s sequel. New characters and new problems. Followed by one big change hopefully for the better and oh happy day Kouga will definitely be in the sequel to torture Inuyasha with a completely different problem.
