InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 12 ( Chapter 12 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
When they finished, a very surprised Sesshomaru was a little bloody.
sesshomaru had managed to throw them off before they did any real damage,
but what little they had done was enough to show their true colors.
"what is the meaning of this?" Sesshomaru asked, quite calmly. His cool
exterior hadn't failed him, his poker face still firmly in place. Even
though he was ripped and torn, he still managed to project an air of
calm and confidence. He was still the most reagal person there. In all
the confusion, no one noticed how the birdcage that Kagome had opened
earlier to clean, the one with the insubstansial bird in it, was now
empty. the bird had taken refuge on Kagura's head, cawing for all the world
to hear. One by one all the faces in the room turned to look at her.
Kagura was now calmly petting the bird, unaware of all the attention she
was now getting.
"What? Can't I pet a bird?" Kagura asked acidly.
"Kagura.... that bird is insubstantial. Nari nor I could touch it. I
think........"Kagome's voice trailed off at this point."That it might be
a talisman." with those words, several things happened at once.
Sesshomaru's eyes went slightly wider, and shouted for his guards to attack.
They, having no qualms about it whatsoever, did. Kagura's mouth dropped
open in shock, and Koga's and Shif's followed a moment later. The group
turned around to see dozens of strong human men and about five youkai
attack. The humans tried punching, but they were knocked out by just a
few blows. The youkai were harder to deal with. One managed to hit
Kagome before being blasted by some of her miko energy. That wasn't the most
significant thing that happened. One demon had hit Kagura, knocking her
out. Koga saw this and got very angry. His eyes seemed to glow red, and
his blade seemed to be pulsing with energy. The room seemd to go dark.
Then only thing that you could see was Koga's shilloette, all r
ed lights. He drew the Quesussaiga in one fluid movement. He brought
it up high in the air, shouting for his friends to move out of the way.
As soon as they were safe, he let loose his attack, yelling:
"Crimson Dragon Annilation!" Red flames shot from the sword and bounded
towards Kagura's attacker, morphing into the form of dragons as they
went. The flames surrounded the unfortunate youkai and completely burned
him to his bone marrow. Nothing was left of it, just matbe a little
more dust where he had stood moments befoore. It didn't take long before
the remaining three youkai were killed. All tahtw as left was
Sesshomaru, who had escaped sometime during battle. No one had seen him leave.
they shrugged it off and ran to the village where Inuyasha and the others
were currntly. Inuyasha was apcing like a mother hen. He was obviously
very worried about Kagome, and Kohaku was Inuyasha's shadow, fretting
about not being there for Nari. They nearly went ballistic when they
heard that there had been a battle. They kept on asking if they were okay.
Eventually, the girls got tired of being fussed over. Kagome put a stop
to the worrying by yelling at Inuyasha. A few days after the fu
ll recvery of the battle participents, Kagome raised the question of
what they'd do when they ruled the world. They all had their own
thoughts on this, and were just about to discuss ideas for what they'd do when
Nari reminded them that they still had to pass the final test, which
had been mentioned to them in their last visit to the Miko household.
They would get exactly one year to prepare. In that year they must put the
talismen's together in the grid and learn to use the attacks. The year
would start when they arrived at the Princess Miko household, and end
when they had finally completed the 365 day study of their weapons.
"We must get going back to the Miko's home." Kohaku said quietly. "I-We
have business there." Kohaku blushed. He had almost said 'I have to ask
the Miko for her daughters hand.'! He tried to picture the outcome of
that statement. He and Nari would blush, Miroku would smile like the
lech he was. Kagome, Kagura, and Sango would just smile knowingly at each
other. Koga an Inuyasha would just nod and continue with what they had
been doing a moment before. Shippo would ask all sorts of questions.
Sango noted his blush and whispered it to Kagome. She nodded, having also
noticed his blush. The two girls started formulating their own ideas
about what he might of said. the end result was that they had a very good
idea that he was about to say something about Nari and him marrying.
They giggled. Kohaku blushed another shade of red.
"That's true. Tomorrow then." Koga said, noting the time. The sun was
just setting. It would take about a day at full youkai speed to reach
the Miko's house. It would be the best if they could see where they were
going.
The next morning they set out bright and early. The group didn't even
have to travel for the entire day. The made it there in about three
quarters of a day. When they arrived, the dinner feast was just being
prepared. The weary travelers were invited to join the household in their
meal, and they gratefully accepted. Over dinner, they told the Miko that
they had all the talismen's. The Miko simply nodded, unsurprised by
this information. She told them that they would have to discuss something
after dinner. After dinner, the group followed her to a small room. The
Miko motioned for them to be seated, and began telling them what they
needed to know.
"You must defeat a powerful evil in the lands, and it will not be easy.
You have only your talismen's to serve as weapons and help you through
this ordeal. Use them well. Grid them together before you go, or else
you will not defeat this evil. A strong attack must be used at the end
of the battle, or else it will not be slain. Some have tried to do this
already, but have failed miserably. You have one year to learn all
there is to know about your talismen's. Help each other. Develop a strong
power grid with the talismen's. Your swords may not be used. Any
question?" They all shook their heads. They needed to digest this information
first before asking questions. They would sleep on it.
The next morning they decided to get right to work. The Miko had clay
pots for aiming their attacks at, but that would have to come later.
Miroku pointed out that they should grid them together, but they had no
idea how. Miroku knew a binding speel, which would prove useful when the
time came to bind the talismen's together, but they needed the proper
design for it. They needed branches of power, intersecting but not
molding. Kagome had the perfect idea. Why not try an eight-pointed star? The
limbs or'branches' of a star couls have the talismen's at each point.
There were just enough points for the talismen's, and the way the stars
points were placed the talismen's wouldn't meld, but intersect. They
decided to put the 'Star Plan' into action that very night, magic was
stronger just at sunset. Kohaku was glad for that, it meant that he had
the afternoon off. He immediantly began seeking out the Miko. He had a
few questions for her, and none concerned the talismen's, just the g
roup, or rather, a very specific member of the group.
