InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 16 ( Chapter 16 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
A/N: Kudos to geopardy for figuring out what the painters name is a
parody of! (Menra= Ramen!) ^_^
"Our story begins a while ago. This entire legend started with a young
girl. Some prophet told all about the fedual times and how the 8 gods
would lead us out of it. We still worship them today, but their names
have changed. Today, their names are Anyasha, Kagoey, Kagi, Myoku, Haku,
Anygo, Mesppo, and Kagula, instead of Inuyasha, Kagome, Koga, Miroku,
Kohaku, Sango, Shippo, and Kagura, as their names were rumored to be.
This." he said, not noticing how the groups eyes seemed to grow intent
at the names, and motioning to The 8 Gods painting, "is said to be what
they looked like. They deafeated a great evil in a tremendous battle,
as depicted in 'The Slaying of the Demon.'" He said, indicating said
picture. "They made a wish on a jewel that they were said to be
collecting, as shown by 'Wish'. They are said to be youkai, half youkai, and
human at any time they wish. No one knows the exact details of the legend,
or if that is even what they looked like. There was also said to be a member who joined later, someone named Nari, or Rain as we call her today. She was said to have joined by wedding the youngest memebr of the group. This picture" he noted, pointing to 'All the Group'.
"-doesn't include her. None of the pictures do. Menra claimed to be a aquaitance to them. We have no
proof of this, or if they even existed. The prophet said that they did,
and that they'd begin or have begun their adventure 500 years in the
past recently, if that makes any sense. Most of it is drivel, but it gave
many artists like Stephanie, Tori, Sandy, and Jennifer the oppertunity
to exercise their creative talents. This painting here,' he said,
indicating a depiction of Kikyo looking extremely sad, "Was done by
Stephanie. It is also considered relevent to this exhibit. Any questions?" the
guide asked, welcoming questions from anyone.
"Yes. Why do you tell that old wives tale? It is nothing but junk!"
Some old lady shouted from the back, shooting a withering look at the
group who had caused all this. "You're polluting kids minds with sensless
drivel! How dare you!" The woman seemed very angery. Kagome and the
others thought that only the one person had thsi veiw. Surprisingly, the
old woman was joined by nearly everyone except for our favorite group of
teenagers.
"Yes! How could you!"
"I'm telling your superior......"
"Senseless, absolutely sensless.." were some comments the group heard.
Kagome had had enough. She ran up to the guide and faced the crowd.
"How can you say that!? You're the ones that are senseless!" Kagome,
normally calm and gentle, had gotten mad at the poor tour guides
misfortune at the hands of his group.
"Why? How can we be senseless? there is no proof! Nothing can or will
ever be prooved! Sit down, little girl! And you, behind her!" The same
old lady spoke that had spoken before. She was speaking to Inuyasha, who
had come up behind Kagome. "Little boy, sit down! Listen to your
elders! I am wiser then you, and it's scientifically proven that older people
are smarter then young'ns like yourself." If it was one thing that made
Inuyasha mad, it was being lectured on respecting his elders by someone
younger then he was, and disbelieveing Kagome was right up there with
that. Combined, those two things were a deadly combination. He growled
low in his throat. Kagome seemed pretty mad as well.
"Because you are! Is there any proof against the 8 Gods?" Kagome asked,
peeved.
"Only....... all of science! There is no way that the 8 Gods could ever
exist! If someone could get the 8 Gods here and show them to me, then I
might believe them! But, little one, do you actually believe that
rubbish?" The old lady snorted. Koga and Kagura came up behind the couple by
the guide, followed quickly by the rest of the group. Inuyasha and Koga
both growled as well as their human vocal cords would allow. (A/N: No
HUMAN pictures of the group were ever posted, so no one could make the
connection. Unless............ *evil snicker*) The group was all
assembled, and everyone was angery. Extremely.
"How dare you disbelieve Kagome!" Sango exclaimed.
"Feh. Stupid humans and their 'proof'." Koga whispered angerily. Kagome
was thinking of all the ways to make them believe. She knew of only
one, and she was trying to forget about it, but her mind kept on slipping
back to it.
"I know of one way to prove it to you." Kagome said loudly, clearly.
"But you have to promise to stay in here, and tell no one of what you are
about to see." Inuyasha looked at her, shocked. She couldn't seriously
be suggesting?
But she was. "Of course we'll stay in here. There is nothing you can do
to scare us." A man said, who was near the back of the room. Coward,
Inuyasha thought.
"Okay. Do you all know what to do?" Kagome said. The question was aimed
at the group, and they nodded.
"Okay, people, what you're going to see will not be allowed to leave
this room. Don't attack us when you see what we do, or I cannot make
promises about your safety." Kagome stated. She was still really mad at the
woman, and this seemed like a good idea........
"Now." she whispered quietly to her group. The change was immediate.
They all changed into their youkai forms, hoping that Kagome knew what
she was doing. When the change was over, Kagome opened her eyes, but she
didn't recall having shut them. Not surprisingly, the rest of the tour
guide group seemed to of moved away from the youkai. Even the tour
guide.
"Wha- What are you?" The old lady asked, frightened.
"Youkai, for the moment, and it looks like we are going to become the 8 Gods." Kagome
said. "Notice how much we look like the people in the paintings?" The
group looked at the paintings, really looked. They noticed immediatly
that the people standing before them were the exact likenesses of the
paintings.
"Humph. It's all smoke and mirrors." A man said, pretending to be
extremely brave, but inside he was shaking, As soon as he finished his
thought, Inuyasha was beside him, and the poor man was lifted high in the
air.
"Still think that it's all smoke and mirrors?" Inuyasha grinned, and
put the man down. The man was cowed after that.
"How can you do this?" The woman again.
"See that painting there?" Kagome pointed to 'Wish'. "We made a wish on
the Shikon Jewel."
"But the Shikon Jewel is a myth!" the old lady argued. "It was also
construsted about 500 years in the past, if it existed!"
"I know. I can travel back and forth in the timestream." Kagome said
calmly.
"But- but- Science said that it can't be done........" the woman was
just mumbleing to herself at this point.
"Come on guys, let's go home." Kagura said, already getting her feather
for travel. They nodded and, staying in youkai form, departed.
When they got back to the Higurashi Shrine, they were laughing. All the
peopel who they had fooled today! It was enough to make them go into
hysteric laughter. They all took a bath when they got back, they had
worked up a bit of a sweat from the morning's exertions. By the time they
all finished, it was dinnertime. They all sat down to a relaxing bowl of
oden, then they went to sleep, never dreaming what the next day would
bring.
The next day forund Kagome awake bright and early. She had no clue what
woke her, but figured that it must be her stomach growling. She gently
shook the others awake, noting that most of them already were. She
found them downstairs, in the kitchen. They were obviously trying to make
breakfast, but failing miserably. Kagome giggled, then came up behind
Inuyasha and showed him the proper way to cook eggs, which he was trying
to make. She also showed Koga how to properly flip bacon so that it
cooked. Sh ewas just about to show Miroku how to mix the pancake batter
porperly when the doorbell rang. She went to go get it, calling over her
shoulder to not touch anything so that she could help them with the
breakfast. She ran to the door, checking outside the door, but she saw no
one.
They're probably just in the blind spot. Kagome thought, opening the
door.
"Hello?" she called tenetively. She didn't like this. She knew someone
was watching her, but she had no clue who it was. She glanced around,
but forgot to chack the shrubbery around the front steps. As soon as she
got a little farther from her house, she was assulted by a dozen
flashbulbs going off at once. She saw a dozen reporters step out of the
bushes. He gave her a close look, then asked her:
"Do you have a sister? One with.... funny ears?" the reporter asked.
Instantly, Kagome knew what he was after. Her heart had a sinking
feeling. Someone that they had shown their youkai forms to had snitched. This
was exactly what she had been afraid of. The press would never stop
looking for them. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. What
would she say? what could she say? Faced with situation, there weren't
many choices. She thought for a moment. She could reveal her secret,
pretend she didn't know what he was talking about, or escape to the Sengoku
Jaidi ahead of time. She closed her eyes, and knew which one was hers.

A/N: What was Kagomes' descion? Guess. Or don't guess, review! If u do,
