InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 17 ( Chapter 17 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Kagome raced back into the house, not even bothering to give the poor
reporter an answer.
"Come on. We have to go back through the well." Kagome told her
companions when she reached the kitchen.
"Why? What about breakfast?" Kohaku asked, surprised.
"Forget it. We're being tracked by people. They want to know all about
us." Kagome tried to sum up reporters so that her friends could
understand them, but failed. "Suffice it to say, we're in trouble if they find
us."
"Okay. let's go." Inuyasha said, running up to her room and grabbing
her big yellow backpack. Kagome quickly packed the essentials for the
trip to the Miko's and ran outside, her friends trailing after her. They
ran all the way to the wellhouse. Once there, they transformed into
their youkai forms, preparing to jump. They entered the well, not noticing
small flashlight bulbs going off as one sneaky reporter took their
pictures. The reporter stood up, aiming the camera down the well, surprised
to find her prey gone.
"Oh well, this will earn me enough of a bonous!" the reporter pocketed
her film, smiling, and went to a photo store to get them developed.
"We're here!" Kagome exclaimed gleefully, blissfully unaware of the
comotion that was going to be going on in her time shortly.
"Okay. We're here. So what?" Inuyasha asked. "Can't we just go back and
face those men who had you so worried?"
"It's not that simple! Remember when I showed you my TV? The images
that were on the TV were taken by reporters!"
"Oh. Well, them let's stay here. Those men were annoying." Inuyasha
said gruffly. "But we're going back to your time tomorrow."
"Okay!" Kagome said happily. Who ever thought that Inuyasha would want
to go to her time!
The next morning was when the chaos would all begin.
*Present time*
Kagome's mother went outside to pick up her morning paper. She went
back inside, the paper tucked firmly under her arm. It was early, only
about 6:00 A.M., but she ran a shrine. It was her duty to get up early and
prepare the shrine. She sat down in her favorite chair and unrolled her
paper. What she saw nearly made her spit out the coffee she was
drinking. On the front cover was a picture of the Higurashi Shrine, with a
picture of youkai in the wellhouse just underneath the photo of the house.
Mrs. Higurashi looked at the story and started reading. The story
covered several pages. When she finished, she set the paper aside.
"Kagome is not going to like this......" she whispered to herself.
"Ah, well, at least she won't have to deal with this for a while. She's
back in the Sengoku Jaidi after all........." Oh, how misinformed Mrs.
Higurashi was......
*Sengoku Jaidi*
"Come on! We must go back to Lady Kagome's time!" Miroku called out
cheerfully.
"You just want to see the women dance, monk." Koga growled. Mioku
looked sheepish.
"Ko-Koga! What a thing to say!" Miroku exclaimed.
"But it's true isn't it Miroku?" Shippo asked.
"Let's just get to the well." Kagome said. they walked in silence until
they reached the well. They simply hopped in and were transported into
Kagome's time.
"Hello! We're back!" Kagome called out cheerfully when they got back
inside her house. What sounded like a mug of liquid dropping could be
heard from the kitchen, as well as her mothers startled gasp. Her mom
raced out to meet them, before they could come inside the kitchen and see
the newspaper.
"Kagome! What a wonderful surprise dear!" Mrs. Higurashi's eyes were
falsly bright, and Kagome picked up on that immediantly.
"What are you hiding?" Kagome demanded.
"Nothing, absolutely nothing dear!" Mrs. Higurashi was sweating a
little now, trying to block the kitchen door without being obvious about it.
"Yes, you are." Kagura said. She had gotten good at reading people's
body language. Mrs. Higurashi's screamed 'I'm lying. Don't ask about it!'
"You might as well tell us, we'll find out anyway." Mrs. Higurashi
swallowed noisily.
They're right.... they'll find out.... she thought.
"Okay. Well........ you have a bit of news coverage." Kagome paled.
"What's news coverage Kagome?" Inuyasha asked.
"It means," Kagome said clearly but quietly, "that someone told the
reporters about us. Our youkai forms, everything." Inuyasha was worried,
though it didn't show.
"WHAT!?" he yelled.
"Just what I said Inuyasha. We've been discovered." Kagome seemed
gloomy. No wonder! Inuyasha was about to yell at her again, but a knocking
at the door stopped him. Wondering who it could be, Mrs. Higurashi went
to open the door. Tons of reporters were there, and not just people
from newspapers other then the one that had already printed their story,
but TV channels were there as well. Mrs. Higurashi shut the door
immediantly, but she was already light-blinded from all the flashbulbs going
off in her face. She returned to the group.
"Who was it Mom?" Kagome asked.
"Reporters. It isn't safe to go out of my own house now!" Mrs.
Higurashi fumed. "Oh, I hate this! the newspaper said that the person to tip
them off was-"
"- a young girl, blonde hair?" Inuyasha asked.
"Well, yes. They gave the name to be Meghan Bulshikski. How-?" Mrs.
Higurashi asked, wondering how he knew.
"Meghan. I should have known." Kagome looked extremely mad. "She sold
us out so she could get her 15 minutes of fame!"
"Well, there's nothing we can do." Kagura said, sad. Kagome got a
devilish smile. She was feeling a bit reckless, so she got her brain in
gear.
"Oh, yes there is!" Kagome said, practically singing the words out. She
had the perfect plan. "Let's discuss this in the living room......."
They all went to the living room and sat down on the couches. They allw
atchyed Kagome with rapt attention as she laid out the details of her
plan. They were all nodding and smiling before the end. Now, all they
had to do was wait until the night. This plan had to be carried out soon,
as they only had 5 more days before they had to return to Totosai.
"It's a wonderful plan!" Nari exclaimed happily.
"And don't I know it!" Kagome replied, also happy. "It's wonderful, and
we'll be able to get her out of our hair!" Seeing their puzzled
expressions at the use of words, she explained the phrase. When she finished,
they nodded.
"What exactly are we going to do? I mean," Kohaku started to say, "We
can't all do this can we? It'd be too cramped if we all did it. Her room
can't fit all of us, can it?" Kohaku had a valid question. Kagome
thought, then figured that it would be best if just she and Inuyasha went.
It would be easier, and they had had more experiance in her world.
"Just Inuyasha and I should go." Kagome said. The outcry followed a
moment later.
"No way!"
"You mustn't go Kagome!"
"I want to go! what if dog-turd messes this up?" Kagome shut her eyes
and eventually the chatter died down.
"We're the logical choice. We know the most about my world of any of
us." Kagome explained. The rest of the group thought for a moment, then
nodded slowly. Kagome was grateful for their acceptance of her plan. She
hadn't wanted to carry it out alone.
"We'll leave a few minutes before midnight." Kagome declared. "We have
to get ready in the meantime."

A/N: What are they planning? Hmmmm......... I wonder........ Oh Review
