........Or would have, if Kohaku had consented to stay in one place.
He twisted away just in time. Kohaku slahed at the youkai with his
whip, just tapping him on the nose.
"Bad puppy." The youkai howled and blindly ran at Kohaku. Kohaku
decided that he had wasted enough time. He let the dog approach, then
he simply fell onto his back, ordering his whip to go dull. The dog-
seeing this as a sign of weakness, put his nerack on the now dull whip
and tried biting Kohaku. Kohaku was unaffected by this. He called out
to the waiting youkai:
"When I finish this puppy off, will all of you let me pass? I will not
harm you if you let me pass."
"You have lost! We would never anyway, we were to let no one pass until
Lord Rysuki said so." A neko youkai said from the front.
"I have not lost." Kohaku said.
"You have!" With a renewed burst of strength the youkai tried biting his
throat once more.
"I have not. I have no wish to make you meet a messy end, but this is
costing me precious time! Get off of me and let me pass and I will not
kill you!" The dog only increased its attack power.
"You leave me no choice!" Kohaku ordered his whip to become sharp once
more. The youkai's attacks forced his neck through the whip,
decapitating him. The youkai's mouth formed an O of surprise, then the
eyes lost their Life. Kohaku got uo, and faced the other youkai. The
only one that went out to meet him was the neko.
'Shimatta! I thought that if I made one meet a messy end, the other would
back off. No time for a drawn out battle now.' Kohaku flicked his whip
expertly at the neko's neck, cutting a small line along it's jungular
vein. It died of blood loss. The others seemed to have lost their fighting
spirit.
"Out." Kohaku ordered. They all ran out the door that had just appeared.
"Well done, my boy. Join me in the next room." Rysuki's voice said. A new
door materialized in the far corner of the room. Kohaku raced toward it,
running straight through to the other side. There, he found a white haired
man with strangly blue eyes and white skin, dressed completely in black. It
gave him a dead look, but his eyes were anything but dead. they were coal
black, yes, but they were full of terrible plots and plans. The man had
done evil, and enjoyed it. Kohaku glanced around the room for a second
before his eyes rested on Nari, who was in a glass cage. Kohaku drew in
a deep breath. Nari didn't look like she was breathing.
*Group*
"Come on!" Inuyasha yelled over his shoulder at the others. They were
running to keep up with him. He chuckled, then sniffed the air. He swore.
"What is it Inuyasha?" Kagome asked.
"Youkai. Three of them, all heading this way, form all of the passages.
We've been setup!" Inuyasha yelled, drawing his Earth sword. Just then the
others arrived.
"Three youkai right?" Koga asked. Inuyasha nodded.
"I'm picking up cat, fox, and something like that moutain demon from last
year." inuyasha said. Koga nodded. Everyone who hadn't already draw thier
blades drew tham and they all transformed- both the blades and themselves.
They three youkai came from the only three passages out of the corner the
group was in. They had no escape route.
"Heh heh heh." the moutain youkai sneered. "Dogs, cats, and wolves, oh my!"
Inuyasha sized up the different youkai. They were all very old, but not past
their prime. they were all much stronger then he was, or Koga for that
matter. They had to beat them together. He was a little worried about the
battle. He didn't have his Tetsusagia, only the Earth sword. He had to hope
it would be enough. All three youkai were male, and the tom was looking at
Kagome. Inuyasha growled. He didn't mind the kitsune so much, or the mountain
youkai for that matter. All that mattered was killing the neko.
"Don't, Inuyasha. Don't get so angery." Kagome said. "You know I don't like
it when you do that. We might be able to get out of this without anyone being
hurt."
"Yo, kitty, what's your name? What's that dog to you? Your mate? Don't you want
to be the wife of a cat, not some mongeral?" The tom whistled at Kagome.
"On second thought, give that neko hell for me, okay?" Kagome released him, and
battle erupted. Inuyasha was covering the tom, with Kagome encouraging him, while
Shippo was trying to fight the kitsune. Koga was assisting him, and Kagura, Sango,
and Miroku were on the mountain youkai. Both sides were evenly matched, when the
group was united. They had to stay strong and united, or they would perish.
*Nari/Kohaku*
"Nari!" Kohaku scrambled toward his wife. He checked her vital signs. She was
dead, from suffocation. Kohaku gentely pushed down her eyelids and said a quick
prayer for her. He stood up and faced his father-in-law, tears and anger burning
his eyes.
"How dare you." Kohaku said. He was practially glowing with energy, all of it
gray. "How dare you..."
"I dare. She was my daughter. I killed my son for the Shikon Jewel, I might as
well sacrifice my daughter for the same reason. She's only been dead for less
then a minute, you were too late."
Kohaku was confused for a moment. "The Shikon Jewel is gone. You killed her for
a destroyed Jewel........."
"Ah, but that is where you're wrong. It lives in the blood of you and your
companions. If I consume you, it will be almost as if i had the entire Jewel.
She was wonderful bait to get you here." Rysuki gestured to Nari, and that was
the last straw.
"You dare insult her memory like that?! My wife........" Kohaku wiped some
blood out of his eyes. The gray glow around him tripled.
"Metal Chain Snake!" Kohaku's whip lashed at Rysuki, but hit a barrier, slicing
a small cut in the fabric of it. Rysuki was shocked, but he hid it. He had not
expected this! The boy had been able to slice through his barrier. Kohaku knew
it too.
"Not so confident now, huh?" Kohaku's whip whizzed by Rysuki again. A small cut
appeared on his face. Rysuki touched it shocked. He quickly disappeared, calling
other youkai to fight Kohaku.
'This boy....... he fought, and fought well, I couldn't hit him with that whip
all about, but I can't break it, that dog tried that, and now he's dead.'
"We will finish this another time." He snapped his fingers and dozens of youkai
appeared.
'Chikuso! I have to kill all these youkai, that'll eat up my time.' Just then
Kohaku saw a youkai approaching Nari's body. He quickly snapped his whip at
the offending youkai.
"Keep off of her!" he yelled angerily. He saw more youkai approach. With a
howl of rage, he brutally slaughtered the youkai, slicing through necks and
stomachs. He made sure that there were none left alive, and he dropped his
weapon and kneeld by Nari's body.
"Nari........" he wept.
