InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 29 ( Chapter 29 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
The next day, Totosai decided to teach them about sending attacks through barriers, and breaking them. He didn't even wait for breakfast to start! He got them up at the crack of dawn, and they didn't have time for any food.
"We must hurry." Totosai said. The ring of truth circled his words. They grbbed a light snack and met him out on the practice field.
"Finally!" Totosai cried. "Let's set up our barriers rights away, and we'll practice on attacking the clay pots set up on the other side of the field." He then left them to their own devices. They had a little trouble at first, but then they got it. It was soon very obvious how attcaks could travel through barriers. It was just opening a tiny crack in your barrier and shooting through it in the split second it was open. They were shooting with about seventy percent accuracy when Totosai moved them on. They now had to let people through their barriers. That was a simple matter of having the barriers recognize a certin person or groups mental patterns, and telling it to let them through. They could also be used to just keep one person out, and let the rest come and go. This was harder to maintain, but it was a worthy cause. It was about midday by the time everyone had these things down at least half the time.
"After luch we will work on cracking barriers." Totosai said. Inuyasha had a question.
"Will I be able to use my Tetsusagia?" Totosai shook his head.
"For this test, you must prove that you have control over your talismens. You will be able to use Tetsusagia again in your life, but you will not use it for this test. You must learn to crack barriers without teh help of red Tetesusagia, which Shiori so kindly bestowed on you!" Totosai said, reffering to the hanyou that was able to crack barriers. She had let Inuyasha break a stone that she had held in her possession so Inuyasha could break down Naraku's barrier. Inuyasha grumbled.
"Keh."
"Oh, come on Inuyasha! Let's go get lunch!" Kagome called to him. He started walking after the others. He was thinking about the first time he had used red Tetsusagia. It was a powerful feeling, and one he could recall well. He had always felt like he was cutting through something like fine cloth with a samurai sword. He was almost able to feel the Tetsusagia in his hand, cutting through one of Naraku's red barriers. He then turned his thoughts elsewhere. He started thinking about lunch. He sniffed the air. Ramen! He quickened his pace. He hadn't had Ramen in about a month, it would be a nice change.
*After Lunch*
After lunch, they noticed that Totosai had set up more clay jars and had put a barrier around them. He explained that they'd have to break his barriers on the clay jars and then break the jars. It sounded simple, but..........
"You're not trying! Break through those barriers!" Totosai yelled. Inuyasha gritted his teeth. If only Totosai would explain more.............. but no, he wouldn't. For a joke, he tried holding his new sword like it was Tetsusagia. He just pretended like it was Tetsusagia and he swung it at the barrier. No one notice that it glowed just a little brighter when Inuyasha swung it. To his great surprise, the strike blasted right through the barrier, breaking the jar. He just stared at the jar pieces, unbelieving.
"Great job Inuyasha!" Kagome called out. He had been the first to be able to break through.
"My congratulations!" Miroku called.
"How'd he manage to get it before I did?" Koga mumbled angerily.
"Yeah, how did you do it?" Kagura asked.
"Well, remember how I had the red Tetsusagia? I just pretended that my new sword was Tetsusagia and acted like it was." Inuyasha said.
"Come to think......" Shippo said, who had been watching Inuyasha. "you did swing it like you did when you were trying to cut one of Naraku's barriers down."
"Great job Inuyasha!" Totosai said. "Who will be able to get it next?" Everyone turned back to their clay pots, still murmmering congrats to Inuyasha. Totosai set up another clay pot for Inuyash and then he let them have at it. It took everyone a few tries, but eventually evryone got it. It was sundown by this time though, and they couldn't see very well. At this time of day, no one really could, ecspecially with the night mist rolling in.
*Night*
Miroku, Inuyasha, and Shippo were walking outside.
"What's with all this mist?" Inuyasha grumped.
"I think it's nice." Shippo chimed in. "It gives everthing a soft look."
"You like anything soft." Inuyasha said.
"I do-"
"I don't like the feel of this mist." Miroku said. "It hides something....."
"Maybe Rysuki will try to attack Nari again!" Shippo said worriedly.
"No, he won't."Mirkku said definatly. "He is sending us a message. Let's go." Miroku said. The three boys went back to the girls, who were inside.
"What is it Miroku?" Sango asked, concerned.
"We have to stay here. Miroku said-" Shippo started.
"That the mist contains some sort of message. Yeah, yeah, Kagome said that too." Kohaku said impatiently. Everyone noticed that he was sticking very close to Nari, as if afraid that she might be kidnapped again.
"Very wise of you to figure that out." Rysuki's voice said from nowhere. "Clever son-in-law of mine." Kohaku looked mad, and everyone else was angery as well.
"What do you want?" Nari asked him coldly.
"Nothing, but the final battle. I shall give you one week, and the you must meet me at Mt. Noisulli, the summit. Midday. That's all." The voice faded away.
"Mt. Noisulli, I've heard of that before." Kagura said. "It's an illusionary moutain. The mountain itself can cast illusions. None that I have known- except for Naraku- could travel near or on the mountain, let alone the peak!"
"It does sound like a death-trap, but it's the place where he wants his final battle, right?" Koga asked. "I say we give it to him. One week... and it'l take about two days to reach the mountain, it's in the Northern Lands as well, but a great deal of distence away. That leaves about four days to practice, and one for preperation." Koga stood up.
"It's late. I'll get some rest so I can work my best tomorrow. You should as well." Koga went over to his pallet on the floor and lay down to rest. The others followed, each going to their own pallets.
*Next Day*
"Yo, Totosai! What are we working on today? We have to get to-" Koga started
"-Mt. Noisulli in a weeks time. I know. Today we will work some weather attacks." Totosai finished for him.
"Weather attacks?" Sango asked.
"Yes, most of you have attacks that have things to do with the weather. Some youkai also have weather powers. Example, the Thunder Brothers, and another, Kagura. Reemember how you-"
"Used to shoot miniture tornados, I know." Kagura said.
"Okay, so, can we get working?" Inuyasha asked.
"Of course, but you must try to figure out what type of weather control you have. Kohaku is the only one that has no weather control. He is Metal, so he can't really." Kohaku just nodded, like he had figured that he wouldn't have a weather attack.
"Well, I'd think that I'd be able to control things like rain, snow, hail, sleet, and all that other stuff right?" Kagome asked.
"Correct. Sango as well, but she'd be able to manage little more then a brief thunderstorm, whereas you'd be able to do much more. She is just a division of Water, and you are Water." Totosai explained.
"Then I'm just a division of Air, second to Miroku, and Shippo is second to Inuyasha, a division of Earth?" Kagura asked.
"Precisly. You all have your own powers though, so it doesn't really matter. It's not like anyone could handle Earth, Water, or Air by themselves! Ecspecially Earth. All the land animals....... Ah well, getting off track. What do you think your weather attacks are?"
"I would probably be able to create wind storms, like tornados." Miroku ventured. Kagura was quick to say:
"And I's be able to do tornados as well, right? Just at a lesser extent?"
"Yes. Inuyasha, what would you do?"
"Probably things like dust storms."
"Exactly. You're getting it."
"Can I do dust storms too?" Shippo asked. "or just illusions?"
"Just illusions. You can provide a fearsome exterior for the attacks, or mask one." Totosai said.
"What can I do? They get all the good stuff." Koga grumped. "Thunder and lighetning storms for one...."
"You provide the thunder and lightening. Thunder and lightening are a small divison of Fire." Totosai said. "You work with Sango or Kagoem and you'll be able to create those storms."
"What about hurricanes?" Kagome asked. Everyone turned to look at her. "Hurricanes are like watery tornados." Kagome explained, turning pink.
"Air and Water. Sango or you would work with Miroku." Totosai said. "Now lets try out the attacks." Everyone nodded, and readied their swords. They were ready.
