InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 36 ( Chapter 36 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
*Miroku*
Miorku stirred. He glanced up and saw Sango. He shook his head, not sure if he was dreaming. No he was awake, he was sure. He tried to concentrate on what Rysukiw as saying, but only caught teh last word.
"......exterminator." In slow motion, he saw Rysuki shoot one of his tentecles at Sango. Everything was in slow-mo. Miroku lept to his feet- not even aware of what he was doing- and lept in front of Sango. It hit him just below the ridcage, breaking it, and puncturing his lungs. They were filling with blood. Miroku tried to breathe, but found he couldn't.
"Miroku!" He heard someone call, from so far off. Who......
'Sango.......' he thought. 'It's Sango.......'
"Sango...... forgive me...." Mirokru thought. He couldn't breathe anymore, and blackness clouded his vision.
'Sango... goodbye.......' Mirokus eyes closed, shut in a rest more final then sleep.
*Sango*
"NO!" Sango cried. She flung herself on Mirokus body. "Wake up! Wake up Miroku! This isn't funny! You have to wake up!"
"Poor little slayer. Can't handle losing one of your own." Rysuki sneered. He stared down his nose at the pair, Sango shaking Miroku's shoulders in an attempt to make him wake up. Sango had stopped concentrating enough to produce the ringing sound, so Rysuki did not need to cover his ears.
'No...... Miroku.... you can't...... it's not true..... you can't be.....'
"He is dead, you know that right? Two down, only 7 to go!" Sango looked up at Rysuki, fury blazing in her eyes.
"That's all you have to say?!" she demanded.
"Of course! Why were you so attached to that monk anyway?" Sango was worn out, through-and-through, but her anger gave her so much energy.
"Song of the Sea!" Sango yelled, increasing the amount of damage it could do. Rysuki yelled, then straightened himself, though it took visible effort.
"That the best you can-" Rysuki didn't finish. Inuyasha had managed to knock away the wall of tentecles in front of him and now had a clear shot.
"Earth Acoplyse!" he yelled. Dirt and mud rose at his command, creating a whirlwind all around Rysuki. Inuyasha gave them a sharp cutting edge, so they were ripping chuncks out of Rysuki where he stood. Rysuki winced in pain as each dirt clod hit him. He lashed out blindly with his tentecles, one narrowly missing Sango and the other hitting Koga, who had been manuvering for a clear shot to Rysuki's head or neck.
"Umpff........" Koga groaned as he was hit. The blow sent him sideways, feet from the edge. Koga stopped himself just in time. He looked up just as a tentecle hit Kagura's body. Kagura's body started rolling towards the edge, and there was nothing to stop her fall. Koga leaped up and ran over there just as she reached the edge. Koga dove and just managed to grab her arm. He tried to pull up, but he was worn out. It was all that he could do to hold her there and watch as the night grew.
Meanwhile, Inuyasha and Kagome were dodging the tentecles. Nari and Kohaku were manuvering for clear shots, and Sango was regrouping. At last, Nari saw a break in Inuyasha'a attack. She aimed her 'Bite's at that place.
"Bite of the Wind!" Instantly a dozen Bite's flew through the air, hitting Rysuki in the face as he turned around. He roared in pain. He glared at his daughter and Kohaku, who was riding on her back. He shot a tentecle at the pair. Nari didn't dodge in time. The deadly appendage hit her in the side. She shrieked and started dropping.
"Nari! Nari are you okay?" Kohaku asked.
"No....... but I have to tough it out. This is our last chance." Nari noted, looking at the growing dusk. Kohaku nodded. Nari straightened out and flew right above Rysuki. Kohaku didn't need to be told what to do.
"Metal Chain Snake!" Kohaku's sword changed into a whip and he hit Rysuki on the cheek, the nose, then opened a cut right above his eye. Rysuki grimaced, but tried to hit the pair with a tentecle. Nari doddged, and Kohaku managed to cut it off before the flew to where the others were. She and Kohaku touched down softly.
"Are you okay?" Kagome asked Nari. Nari nodded.
"Kohaku, I have to go back up. I can't really use my attack down here." Kohaku nodded. He hugged her close, then let her go. Nari spread her wings and flew, searching for a favorable position.
"Where's Miroku? Kagura?" Kohaku asked. He didn't know what had happened to them. Kagome looked down, and Kohaku knew.
"They...... didn't make it?" Kagome nodded, hot tears on her face.
"What about Koga? Is he...." Kagome shook her head.
"Come to think, where is he?" Kohaku glanced around and spooted Koga.
"Koga!" He ran over to his friend and helped him get Kagura up.
"I'm sorry........" Kohaku said, uncertain how to offer his condolences.
"It- it was my fault........" Koga said hollowly. "I told her to attack him from behind........" Koga's eyes took on a dark look, and a protective one.
"Let's get that bastard......." Koga spat. He picked up his sword (he had dropped it) and prepared to join the battle again.
"Crimson Wolf Flame!"
*Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippo*
"Ugh......" Kagome said as she cut through the ever denser tentecle wall that was surrounding her and Shippo. Shippo helped by cutting down some as well.
"Kitsunebi!" A stream of blue flame poured continuesly from his hand. For as much progress they were making, Rysuki was clearly winning. Kagome looked around herself and Shippo. They were almost completely enclosed in the writhing mass. Kagome had a flash of insight.
"Shippo, go get Inuyasha!" Kagome wasn't that good at fighting, and nor was the small kitsune. They'd be beyond help if this went on for much longer. Kagome and Shippo both sported cuts and bruises already. Shippo nodded and dashed for the small exitway seconds before Rysuki noticed it. Shippo barely escaped. Kagome slashed at a tentecle, then another.
'If Inuyasha and Shippo don't get back soon.......' Kagome thought, ripping apart more tentecles.
*Inuyasha*
Inuyasha was just about ready to attack Rysuki again when Shippo came barreling into him. Inuyasha's first instinct was to get mad and pound the kit, but he noticed that Kagome wasn't with the kid.
"Where's-?" He barely said that word when Shippo started babbling about how much danger she was in and that Inuyasha had to get to her....... quickly. Inuyasha surmised from Shippo's babble that Kagome was in great trouble. He ran in teh direction that Shippo kept pointing at, leaving the kiit to deal with the few small tentecles coming towards him. He came upon the limb-mound that Shippo had described rather quickly, and put his fist throug it. He reached deep inside, almost to the elbow, and found Kagome. She was having a hard time of it, and was barely conscious. He ripped a large hole in Rysuki's 'wall' and pulled Kagome out. Slashing several tentecles, Inuyasha made his way back. He saw the kit barely fending off several limbs. Kagome noticed it too.
"Duck Shippo!" she called out, just as Inuyasha slashed through the tentecles about to attack Shippo from the side. Shippo looked rather shaken, but said thanks. Kagome was exhausted by this point, so Inuyasha gentely put her down behind him.
"Guard her Shippo." Inuyasha said gruffly, spinning around to protect the three of them from the onslaught of new tentecles.
'Damn...... there are too many of them!' Inuiyasha mentaly cursed. He fought them off as best as he could, but still got scratched, as did Shippo.
*Koga, Kohaku*
Koga lept over Rysuki as the attack's flames blinded him for an instant. He landed- hard- on the other side- where Sango was. He picked himself up, dusted himself off, and extended a hand to the slayer, who was still kneeling by Miroku's body.
"Miroku......" Sango whispered. Koga's face softened.
"Sango, we have to beat him. Let's do this. We'll mourn for our dead later." Sango jumped, startled, as she heard Koga's voice. Her face- still blotchy and red- hardened slightly. She nodded grimly, and drew her sword.
"This fight is not over." Sango said, taking Koga's hand in a way like you or I would take a friends hand. (A/N: They are NOT gonna become b/f g/f. They are just determind to kill Rysuki. FRIENDS only.)
"Water Strike!" they called out at the same time. They had both known that that was what they should use. Rysuki screamed. This attack in particular seemed to do more damage then some of the others......
'Why?' Sango wondered. 'I'm just attacking with Koga, instead of without someone......' Sango's eyes widened. The Miko's words rang in her ears.
'Love, hope, courage...... he doesn't understand those.....' Sango got it.
'Of course!'
