InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ New Journey ❯ 40 ( Chapter 40 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
'So....... without having met me, Kikyo would've died around then anyway?' Inuyasha thought. It sort of comforted him.
"What about Kagura?" Inuyasha thought, then felt stupid for having asked. She probably wouldn't have been born if one thing was taken out. The Mirror showed him as much.
"Koga?" The Mirror instantly showed him images of the wolf.
*Koga*
"Hey, Koga, the harpies attacked again!" A scared-looking wolf ran right up to Koga and bowed low. "They got seven of our men whne we changed the watch!" Inuyasha could see and hear Koga sigh.
"How many are left in the cave?"
"About..... fifteen, if we're lucky. I could do another head count...." the wolf offered. Inuyasha saw the conflicting emotions cross Koga's face, and he heard the thoughts.
'Damn....... those harpies keep attacking us...... it's our mountain, but I can't do anything to help my pack......' Koga's mind was racing. Inuyasha could sees everal scars on his old frinds back.
'From the harpies?' Inuyasha wondered, but then he heard something that shocked him completely.
"We'll probably have to find another cave. Koga, if this keeps up......." The young wolf didn't have to finish.
"We're all as good as dead here. Make ready to move." The young wolf froze, staring at Koga.
"Ko-Koga-?" he stammered.
"What!? I said be ready to move. Now!" Inuyasha was surprised. Koga had never been the type to give up before....... he could always outrun anything he didn't like.
'But-But now he can't Kagome was menat to shatter the Jewel! This was all predestined!' Inuyasha thought. He pulled out of Koga's- or what would've been Koga's- life. He turned to go. He had seen all he needed to convince himself that all that had happened had needed to happen. He turned away from the Mirror.
"Thank you Kikyo." Inuyasha said softly. He was certain that he heard someone say 'you're welcome' in his ear- softly- before he pulled out of Limbo. He awoke, finding himself back on the Mikos house, Kagome's sleeping, her head on his chest. He stroked her hair- lightly, so as not to wake her up- and reflected on what he had learned.
"Mmmmmmmmm....." Kagome stirred slightly, moving her head closer to Inuyasha's hand before falling asleep once more. He smiled and kissed her head lightly, then fell asleep himself.
*Miroku and Sango*
"Sango?" Miroku asked Sango form his seat in their room.
"Yes, Miroku?" Sango replied, her back to him. She was packing some things for their trip.
"I'm glad I'm back. I didn't know if I could......." Sango turned to face him, walking slowly towards him and wrapping her arms around Miroku. Miroku put his arms around Sango, kissing her forehead.
"You were scared about not coming back? I was just scared. It's not easy to scare me. I can fcae all kinds of monsters without breaking down and weeping, but I can't take it if someone I love dies. You scared me back there." Sango smiled and hugged him closer.
"Shh..... Sango. I'm here, and we're both alive. We won, in more ways then one. We can live forever now. You, me, our friends, and our little kids, if we ever had them. It's okay." Miroku felt a wetness dampen his robes. Sango was crying. "Don't cry."
"It's hard not to. You died, Miroku. It was only about a week ago that you died, but now you're alive. I can still remember how you looked when you were dead though...... I still remember...." Miroku stopped hugging her and held her by her shoudlers, looking her straight in teh eye.
"Sango," he said softly, but his voice had the unmistakable tone of command. "Look at me. I'm alive. You're alive. We'll be that way forever. Yes, I died, but I'm alive again. We need not shed tears over something that had been fixed." He pulled her into his arms again.
"It's okay........" Miroku said, stroking her hair.
"You're right." Sango said softly, tears still falling from her face. "It is all right now."
*Next Day*
The group traveled far. After saying their goodbyes to the house staff, they set out. Within hours, they came upon teh well, skirting Kaede's village. They'd visit when they came back.
"I'll go first." Kagome said, jumping in the well. The others followed. Inuyasha, Shippo, Koga, Kagura, Miroku, Sango, Kohkau, Nari, the Miko, everyone. Teh familiar blue lights surrounded them all, but something went wrong. Instead of showing up 500 years in teh future, they were stuck in Time itself, on a grayish, foggy plain.
"W-What happened?" Nari asked.
"I don't know........" A rustle sounded off to Kagome's side. "Hello? Who's there?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." A voice answered. Kagome frowned. It sounded familiar.........
"Congrats. You've killed Rysuki." The voice continued.
"We helped!" A kids voice said.
"You did." the first voice agreed.
"Show yourselves!" Inuyasha growled. The voices laughed, and they were joined by what sounded like 4 other females and 4 males.
"Who are you?" Kagome shouted.
"I am amazed you don't already know. Haven't you figured it out?" A males voice said, amused.
"You'd think....." A soft female's voice said.
"Show yourselves!" Inuyasha yelled, getting impatient. The first female that tehy'd heard laughed softly, then spoke.
"Alright, since you insist......." 10 people stepped from the shadows. The group gasped.
'No....... it can't be........'
