"Wha-? What the?" Kagura gaped. Standing in front of her were copies of everyone in the group.
"Who are you?" Kohaku asked, readying his sword in case it was needed. The Kagome-copy laughed. Kagura recognized her voice as teh first who had spoken.
"We are you, to put it simply. The future you."
"The future..... us? But- but you look the same as we do!" Shippo said. The future Shippo- if they were to be believed- shook his head.
"Use your brain, stupid! We also got eternal youth!"
"Why are you here, now?" The Miko asked suspiciously. Instantly, teh future faces turned serious.
"Your actions created a........ time ripple, I guess you could call it." Miroku -the future one- said. The real Miroku looked at him, puzzled.
"Time ripple?"
"Yes. What you did sort of..... messed up time. It started when Kikyo let you three come back to life. You were fated to die." the future Miko said. "You living and breathing turned time on its ear. We wanted to let you know what you must do- now would be best- to set it straight again."
"What exactly do you mean by 'setting it straight'?" Inuyasha asked. The future him chuckled.
"She emans that you hyave to do something or Kagome's time won't come to pass. Everyone will stay alive- if you manage to join the Three together. The timestream is already altered, but you can salvage it."
"How exactly has it altered?" Nari asked, moving closer to Kohaku. The future her looked up.
"Well, if you let time just continue like this, going on to Kagome's time at such a delicate stage, as we did," Future Nari motioned to herself and the rest of her group. "Then the Three will be thrown into war. You'll live throughout teh ages, ruling a bloody and desolate land. We actually come from a seperate future, not yours. You aren't fated to become like us. To talk to you like this, we had to hop backwards and sideways.
"Sideways?" Sango asked, curious.
"Over two dimensions. In our reality, we stayed in Kagome's time for a week, then came back. The humans and lesser hanyous were alreday dead, and us without our Gifts." The future Kagura said. She looked directly at the Miko. "Give them the Gifts as soon as is safe. Join teh Three in peaceful harmony. If so, then you will soon see a future with all of the luxeries and where you still rule, and where humans, hanyous, and youkai all walk together under teh sun. You're also let out from your palace, which shapes to your will. It is much like Rysuki's former castle, except it is built of your positive energy, not his negative energy. You are even worshipped, not just a legend."
"How do we know that's true? Who are the Three?" Kagoem asked. Their future selves stiffened, then started fading.
"We're sorry, but we have no more time. Unite the Three peoples......" The voices faded out, and teh group found themselves on their side of teh well.
"Was- was that a dream?" Kagome muttered out loud.
"If it was, I was having teh same dream." inuyasha said. Everyone nodded, then Miroku posed the questions that were on everyoen's minds.
"Who are teh Three? What are teh Gifts?"
"The Gifts are easy enough to understand. The first question... I don't know. Many things come in threes. Spirit, mind, and body; Daimyos, samurai, peaesnts; nobility, middle class, dregs of humankind; and Hope, peace, and love. None of these things really refer to all peoples." the Miko said.
"Well, since we can't figure that out, why don't we learn what teh Gifts are?" Sango asked.
"The Gifts are just gifts of different power. I have them all, and there are just enough for each of you to have two Gifts. They are always passed on from one ruler to teh next. I have to be back home to be able to peform the ceremony." They all nodded.
"Why don't we start heading back then? We still ahve to visit Kaede, but it will only take about a day......" Everyone nodded once more.They hiked back to Kaede's village. kaede was surprised to see them back so soon.
"Why are ye back so quickly child?" Kaede asked Kagome. Kagome explained about being visited by their future selves, and that they could only stay for a day. Kaede nodded.
"Then I must let ye go now." Kagome's eyes widened.
"If ye stay here, then ye'll fall behind schedule. Go, I'll speak with ye later." Kagome nodded, silently thanking teh old woman. They stayed only long enough to restock and then they left. They were back in teh Mikos house in just under a day.
"Sleep. I'll explain everything in the morning, as well as give you your Gifts." the Miko said. No one posted a complaint. They all went immediantly to their rooms, and slept. They all dreamt too.
*Miroku*
Miroku was in a grassy meadow. He could feel the wind rising up, all around him.
"What is this.." Miroku didn't finish. The wind blew into a tornado, and revealed 18 globes. He reached for them, but 16 sped away from him, leaving him with two. He grabbed them close, knowing that they were emant for him, but having no clue why or how.
*Sango*
Sango was in what seemed to eb the belly of a large fish. She grabbed her sword, wanting to cut it open, but then she saw 18 bubbles. Two were faded, but she could see them all.
"What in the seven.." Sango said, ready to borrow our favorite hanyous curse, but then all but two popped. Sango reached for them, knowing that tehy would never desert her.
The rest of the evening passed in a similar manner, everyoen getting dreams about glodes, bubbles, spirits, or whatever. Every time, the faded bubbles grew by two, and every time, the person who was dreaming grabbed two.
*Next Day*
"Ahhh," kagoem said, stifling a yawn. "I had such a strange dream last night."
"So did I." Koga said. Instantly, everyone else chimed ina bout funny dreams. They were just about to clean up their breakfast when a servent came running to them.
"The Miko wishes for you in her study immediantly. We will take care of the dishes." the young man panted. Inuyasha nodded.
"Come on then!" he motioned to his group, and they all went to the study. The Miko was waiting for them.
"Good. I will now pass on teh Gifts. You will each get two. No more, no less. I have none left after this." The Miko closed her eyes, not giving them a second to respond. 18 brightly colored shining balls seemed to leap from the Miko. Everyone's eyes widened. They recognized these balls.......
"These two are mine." Mirokus aid quickly, grabbing the two that felt right. Everyone else followed suit. No one fought over whose was whose. They knew, without knowing how they did. The Miko seemed surprised, but accepted it in stride.
"What do we do with them?" Nari asked. They were losing tehir glow and becoming small balls, much teh size and shape of teh Shikon no Tama.
"Swallow them." the Miko commanded.
"If you insist." Koga muttered before swallowing them as instructed. He felt..... powerful, more so then ever before. "Whoa... now, can you tell me what the hell I just swallowed?!"
"Two Gifts." teh Miko said. Kagura snorted.
"What are they?"
"Basically, you can now do more things. Two more, to be exact. You can turn them on or off, depending on when you want them. A Gift is just like a sword. They are weapons, to be used when you want or need them. I can also tell you which you now have. The old ruler always knows what her sucessors get." (A/N: I'll just list them, okay?)
Miroku- Ability to stop time, and Summon anything living or inanimate.
Sango- Has ultimate knowledge and is able to speak the language of all sea creatures.
Inuyasha- Ability to talk to all alnd animals and nonliving objects.
Kagome- See all and Hear all.
Koga- Is a Seer/ Gift of Prophacy, and can make things Hot/Cold.
Kagura- See the Past/Present, and talk to birds.
Nari- Heal and Inner Peace- can give others peace for a while as well.
Koahku- Memory- perfect memory, can remember anything told to him- and can make things Dark/Light.
Shippo- Empath- can sense others emotions- and Strong- perfect illusions, everyone is fooled.
"Wow," Shippo commented when he heard about what they could do. "Cool.."
"I quite concur." Miroku said.
"Oh!" Sango gasped. She looked pale for a moment, then said. "I know who teh Three are."
"Really? Sango, that's great! Who are they?" Kagome said.
"Hanyou, Human, and Youkai."
"You- You mean we have to join those three races together so we can have taht future?" Kohaku asked. Sango nodded.
"I'm glad that one of you has managed to use her Gift." The Miko said approvingly. "Ultimate knowledge when you want it is useful. Be careful, these Gifts are not infailable." They nodded.
"How will we do it?" Kagura asked.
"We'll have to make barriers around areas, then I could Summoun them all into different barriers. All Humans in one, all Hanyou in another, and all Youkai in the last." Miroku said thoughtfully.
"That might work... there aren't that many Hanyous, and we don't have to really worry about many youkai, and humans..... we can just get teh leaders! The leaders caould tell everyone in their area about it. So, that's....... about 500 humans, and there are about 20 youkai leaders, and we might as well invite all teh hanyou's, they're rare and hard to find. That makes the numbers, 500 human, 20 youkai, and 50 hanyou." Kaguar said, using her Present Sight to spot all teh leaders. Miroku nodded.
"Maybe we should do it now." Koga said.
"Why?" Shippo asked.
"I just have a bad feeling if we don't do this now.... Kagura and I shall talk with teh full youkai, Inuyasha and Kagome with teh half-youkai, and Miroku and Sango with the humans. Nari shall uphold the Hanyou barrier, Kohaku the human, and Shippo teh youkai. I just think that that would be teh way to go about it. You shouldn't be afraid to transform if you are having difficulty......"
"We should do it now." Nari agreed. "Rememebr, he got teh Gift of Propahcy? He's probably right." They all nodded.
"Well then, let's get started." Inuyasha stated.
