Kouga shivered slightly beneath his blankets as though the cold wind that blew through his dream existed in the real word as well. Reaching out into the haze of his dreams he struggled for the warm presence he felt a moment ago. That scent, so familiar yet…different somehow. Who was it? Grasping onto something he pulled it to him, immediately the cold fog that had surrounded him dissipated and he could see where he was.
The hard bench pressed into his back as he snuggled up to the warm body beside him, the thick steamy smell cinnamon apple filled his nostrils and he breathed deep, inhaling the scent of shampoo that clung to the silky hair.
Looking down in his lap he was only slightly surprised to see the hanyou teen nestled up against his chest. His thick silver tresses fell around his shoulders, blending in with the misty whiteness of their surroundings. Kouga took in another deep breath, filling his lunges with the intoxicating aroma.
Inuyasha giggled beside him, moving almost teasingly against him as the dog tried to escape the confines of his arms. Sliding away from him like water the hanyou stood from the bench, just a single step away from the freedom of the void around them.
The white mist started to close in around him again, the cold emptiness shooting through him like frosty ammunition. Quickly Kouga pulled him back, tightening his hold around the boy. Inuyasha fell back, landing on top of him. Chest to chest they sat breathing for a while, Inuyasha's head resting on his shoulder.
Kouga could feel the heat of their bodies, such a welcome sensation against the biting cold of the milky fog. Inuyasha's scent, like apples warming in the sunshine, filled him and without thinking his tongue darted out to slide briefly across the skin where hanyou's ears should have been.
The vibration between them and the startled sound that the boy made as he took in a sharp breath made him pause slightly to question his actions. But the taste, spicy and fresh, like the forest air on a spring morning, it tingled against his tongue. His taste was nothing like his smell, so sweet and warm like a summer's night. He tasted wild, untamed, with a richness much like the damp forest earth in the deep shadows of the trees.
He wanted more, savoring the flavor as it coated his tongue like melted chocolate. Inuyasha was panting heavily now, his strong hands grasping Kouga's shoulders tightly. For a panicking second the boy didn't breath and Kouga could smell the salty tang of tears. Then his breathing resumed deeper, calmer as if he wanted to regain control.
Inuyasha's hands pressed against him, lightly pushing at him as if he wanted to go. Kouga's arms tightened and he dipped his head to trail his tongue along the lightly tanned skin of his collarbone.
Inuyasha's shuddered against him, a rippling sensation he could feel sweep across the boy's body pressed tight against him. His felt the fingers on his shoulders tighten as Inuyasha leaned against him. There was a moment Kouga had felt a spark of electivity as Inuyasha's hot breath caressed his ear, a moment shattered into millions of pieces by a small whimpering sound, almost scared.
His eyes shot open and he bolted up, gasping as he tried to figure out where he was. It couldn't have all been a dream; it had felt so real, oh so very real. Then he felt movement on top of him and his eyes focused on the panting boy he had locked in his arms.
The scent of apples filled his nose, Inuyasha's scent, but the dark beauty couldn't possibly be Inuyasha. His wide frightened eyes were not the liquid gold of the hanyou but rather a deep amethyst, his hair fell around him in black waves, shifting like the waters of a deep lake at midnight.
The hands on his shouldered trembled and the pale, frightened face of the human filled his vision. Kami what had he been doing? He tried to speak, tried to calm the terrified boy but his voice was lost deep within him.
“K-Kouga-kun.,” he whispered huskily. “Please let me go.”
That deep, sweet voice, almost sultry, was unmistakably Inuyasha and Kouga's eyes widened in amazement for a moment, his hands locked at the boys hips as if frozen. Then quickly he pulled away, all the way, knocking Inuyasha down onto the hard floor as he struggled to get out from under the blankets entangled in his legs.
“What-what's going on?!” he asked rather loudly.
“Shhhh, you'll wake Naraku up.” Inuyasha hissed, almost…cruelly.
Kouga blinked. “What?”
Inuyasha cursed himself, careful not to say it out loud with the wolf's excellent hearing. This is why he wanted to stay away from the damn ookami. He couldn't control himself; there was no telling when he would have an outburst. Hell it had taken him ever bit of control not to smash a stone up against his head and point at the sign instead when he had started yelling at the spring.
“Naraku…he doesn't know about…” He trailed off nervously. It wasn't a lie, Naraku didn't know about his human night, and he would really like to keep it that way for a while yet.
“About you being human?” Kouga finished, waiting for Inuyasha's nod before approaching the crouching teen.
“I'm…uh, sorry.” He whispered. “I didn't know…I was asleep yaknow and…” He rubbed the back of his neck, grimacing when he brushed against the scratches on his shoulder from Inuyasha's fingernails. For someone without claws he sure did damage. He found himself wondering what it would look like when Inuyasha had claws again before violently closing down that part of his brain. He had enough of a problem with his already aching arousal without adding to it with more fantasizing. Besides, it was highly unlikely he would ever get the boy in that position again anyway.
“It's okay; you didn't know what you were doing.” Inuyasha stood shakily, walking trying to find his way in the dark room. It was still so hard to find anything. He stumbled over Kouga's pack and found himself about to know the floor on a deeply personal level.
Instead he found himself pressed up against Kouga again. He cursed his terrible luck and wondered just what he did to deserve this. Then cursed again when he received the very obvious answers.
“Guess the room's kind of dark to human eyes hu?' He chuckled, pulling Inuyasha back against him as he helped the dark-haired teen.
Inuyasha swallowed the retort he so desperately wanted to let out. Not even Miroku's insolence had made him slip in his facade. Silently seething he let Kouga lead him, pressed quite intimately against his back, to his bed.
Reaching his hand out Kouga pressed Inuyasha's palm down on the soft quilt, just to be sure he knew where it was, and to steal a few last moments pressed against the boy.
“Thanks.” Inuyasha mumbled darkly.
Kouga was momentarily startled by the irate tone, but shrugged it off. He glanced over at the door. He seriously needed to relieve himself. Stepping away he headed out. “I need to piss.”
“Bet you do.” Came the soft voice.
Kouga looked back quizzically, but again turned around. Just because Inuyasha was sweet didn't mean he had to be naïve. That would be pretty dangerous. Then again that retort could just be his anxiety again.
Shutting the door he cursed the fact that Inuyasha might not fully understand what he almost went through. Someone could totally take advantage of him.
`Like I almost did.' he thought.
With a sigh he headed towards the forest, trying to get deep enough so he wouldn't be disturbed by other nighttime wanderers. Maybe he should keep an eye on the innocent mutt. He didn't really trust Naraku to care for him, not when he had done all that and not even stir the kid.
Yes, he decided. He would have to protect Inuyasha, especially after tonight.

YAY! Much love to IMA and Caitriona for guessing right, as unlikely as it was Kouga WAS dreaming about Inuyasha! How often does that happen? Bet you expected something weird from me didn't you?
I'm working on making each update at least three pages long. Starting today. I may stretch it out to be once every three days, so I'll update at least twice a week. I find that updating this each day is taking time away from my other stories, and that's not making my M/F readers very happy.
Last update for one was in December, how lame is that?!
Also Deadly Challenge, and Free Game, two new InuKouga stories will be up in August once I get deeper into/finish some of my other works. Free Game is the one shot that was the prize ;) and I'll have it done in a week. It'll be at least fifteen pages long. I'll make lots of time for it!
