InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Night's Candles ❯ Miwasureru ( Chapter 2 )
Disclaimer: I wasted my money on watching movies and buying junk I enjoy. So if I did own Inuyasha, do ya think I'll own only a few bucks?
AN: Thanks to everyone who reviewed for my first chapter. Always appreciated =] <hint, hint!>
There are some major revisions I made in the first chapter, I mean major! Well, I guess so… hmmm, maybe not. Though the major change is the title. Hated the first one. Does the new title sound good, better, worst?
At first, I thought this story would be -blah- to work on; I didn't like the idea much. Although, I thought about it and I'm starting to like my evil ideas for this story. I couldn't wait to post the next chapter! So I'll try to post chapters for this story while trying to maintain Till There Was You.
Enjoy!

Chapter Two: Miwasureru
~*~
Mrs. Higurashi led her daughter to the living room, where a couple awaited them. She smiled inwardly, thrilled for her daughter to finally, again, meet the couple who comforted and aided her broken heart when she lost her husband.
Kagome enters the room to find a middle-aged couple seated on the sofa, talking softy to one another. Mama guides her to walk in front of the couple, gaining their attention. "Kagome, meet Satoya Ryo and Mitsu, Kisho's parents. They are also your father's best friends," her mother announces. The couple stands to greet Kagome with genuine happiness clearly glowing on their faces.
"It's nice to finally see you again!" Satoya Mitsu exclaims as she hugs Kagome with a soft smile. Kagome welcomes the hug with a soft smile. Her nose is entranced by a sweet fragrance coming from Mrs. Satoya.
Beside his wife, Satoya Ryo compliments with a grin, "You've grown into such a beautiful young woman!"
Kagome blushes, not use to anyone greeting her appearance. "It's nice to meet you too." She looks over the couple, desperately trying to remember anything that included them from her past. Kagome couldn't remember them or their son at all.
Mrs. Satoya chuckles knowingly, "Its okay, we understand; it has been a long time since you've seen us."
Kagome, in reply, smiles at their show of kindness. From what she had been told, they were the people that consoled her mother when her father passed away, helping her get back on her feet financially and emotionally.
Her thoughts halt, when Mr. Satoya asks her, "Have you meet our son, you must have passed him?"
"Yes, I passed him on the way in, he's-"
The television blasting in the background disrupts Kagome. Everyone in the room turn to face the news woman in the television announcing, "Breaking news right from downtown Tokyo brought to you by News Six. Recently The Museum of History had been robbed last night. We are informed that only one item had been stolen-"
Abruptly, the television shuts off and Mrs. Higurashi places the remote back down on the coffee table.
"That's interesting." Mr. Satoya's voice brings the attention of the occupants in the room. "Who would steal something from that museum?"
"Who knows? Some people can be obsessed with history." Mrs. Higurashi inserted.
Mrs. Satoya chuckles, "Like a certain father of yours."
The three share a warm laugh. Kagome watches the adults talk and laugh causally. She never has seen Mama at ease with people like she is now. She smiles gratefully to herself happy for her mother. It's been awhile that she shared a laugh with her friends in Sengoku Jidai. Things were getting more serious the passing month, and it wasn't a real good time to share amusing thoughts. Kagome didn't know how long their journey for the Shikon shards would last, but all she knew that it was growing hectic and she didn't get much sleep for the last couple of days. Listening to the adults joke around; Kagome covers her tired yawn with her hand.
Mama notices, knowing the action wasn't from being bored. "Kagome, why don't you go up and take a nap?"
Another yawn came and a muffled reply, "But we have guests. I don't wanna be rude…"
"Nonsense!" Mitsu urged Kagome to stand up. "I hear these days that girls don't get sleep in sleepovers. Why don't you go get much needed sleep? We don't mind, right dear?"
"Not at all."
Kagome nodded and left the room. I guess Mama told them I was at a sleepover. Well, its way better than being at the hospital. After taking a nice long shower, she gave her wet hair a quick blow-drying and dressed in comfortable clothes to sleep in. Finally, she dove into bed and slept instantly.

Kagome woke when the setting sun met her face through the window. Reluctantly, she pried opened her weary eyes with a groan. Groaning louder, she sat up and looked through her bedroom window. Walking over to the window seal, she drops her elbows and leans ahead to the scene ahead of her. By looking at the view, she knew she slept long. Glancing at her clock, it was thirty minutes till six, dinner. Finally, she slept for about three hours and is feeling generated than before. She turns her head back to the window feeling the light breeze caress her face. She welcomes the breeze as she closes her eyes and sighs contentedly. Finally opening her eyes, she catches a flash of green out of the corner of her eye. The light came from the direction of Goshimboku, the God tree.
Kagome gazed at the spot the light came from, hoping to find it again. Finding nothing, she decided to inspect it closer. She ran out of her room, down the stairs and out of the house in a flash. She reaches Goshimboku and stands in front of it.
I did see something! She persuaded herself expecting to see the flash of light again and as she looked up, nothing was there. What was here?
Kagome walked around Goshimboku, dejected. She sat on a bench near the Sacred tree and lowered her head. I know I saw something, but what? Can it be a demon? But there hasn't been a demon her since the Noh Mask. Still. Kagome reached in her pocket and grasp a familiar glass vial. She stares at the shikon pieces and wonders, what other trouble can you bring?
"That's an enormous tree."
Startled, Kagome raises her head to find Satoya Kisho standing directly in front of her. She hastily places the vial back in her pocket, "Yeah. It's rumored that it's a 1,000 years old." she answers timidly. Did he see them?
"Um, do you mind if I take a seat?" Kisho questions her.
"Huh?" Kagome was lost in thought that she didn't comprehend his question. Till she finally realized where she sat, "Oh! I'm sorry." She scoots over to make room, "Here take a seat."
"Thanks." He walks over and sits down next to her. A moment of uncomfortable silence falls. I guess he didn't see them, Kagome concludes.
The wind sways lightly as the sun slowly descends in the horizon. Kagome takes a quick glance at Kisho to find him gazing at Goshimboku. Then he turns to find her watching him. He smirks and Kagome flushes, caught in the act. She hastily removes their eye contact, but she still feels her blood rushing to her ears.
Kisho finally breaks the silence. "It's been awhile since I've been here." Kisho said.
"I can't place you or your parents. I don't remember at all." Kagome confesses.
"It's been awhile, but I remember you."
"You do?" She looks up, surprised.
"Yeah." He nods and adds, "I remember you and your pigtails."
Kagome chuckles. "Kami, how I hated those. I had to beg my mother to remove them."
Kagome found it was easy to talk to Kisho, no different, in fact, than talking to her male classmates. She found out Kisho was only a year older than her. His family resides in Yokohama, and is visiting Tokyo for a business trip. Kisho decided to join along in the trip since he had no plans for the summer, and all his friends left town. They got carried away talking, and didn't notice time moving quickly. The sun finally sets and the sky fills with purple and orange streaks.
Then, Mama comes out, shouting for them to come eat dinner. The two stand and Kagome stretches her worn-out muscles. They walk together towards the front porch with a steady pace.
The wind picks up, and Kagome is dreading that she wore short sleeves. Kisho notices her discomfort, and hesitantly places his arm over her shoulders, offering her some of his body heat.
Kagome is taken aback. Her muscles tense, feeling his arm spread a new heat in her body. She feels herself blushing, but thanks him without meeting his eyes. Kagome gradually relaxes and they finally reach the front porch. Kisho opens the front door for them and never removes his arm until they reach the kitchen door.
