InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Nightwalker ❯ Tomorrow ( Chapter 40 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
This is the final chapter of Nightwalker.  If this uploads in a weird way, or uploads multiple times, and there’s something weird with the prompt, it’s because I’m using another computer since mine died again and the computer I’m using has a different Word.  So I have to fiddle around with it so it looks good on the internet.  I hope the promt is readable.

As I was writing this chapter, my sister came up with an awesome idea for a sequel, but I don’t know if I should do it.  Aw well, I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Inuyasha, nor will I take credit for Romiko Takahashi’s genius.

Part Forty: Tomorrow

September 30th, Tokyo

ÒInuyasha, I think I’d better do this alone.Ó

She saw him nod and then watched as he turned and walked down the street.  When he was out of sight, she turned to stare nervously at the stairs in front of her.  Taking a deep breath, Kagome climbed the stairs that led to the shrine that was her home before she became a nightwalker.  It was dusk, and the remaining light that covered the sky had her walking as close to the shade as possible.  It had been so long since she had been out during the day that she’d forgotten that the sky could be blue and then gold at dusk.  It was strange, Kagome thought, how easily she’d come to accept a black sky, knowing that she’d never be able to see a blue one again.  Once Kagome reached the top of the stairs, all thoughts of the sun and the sky left her mind.

The shrine almost seemed alien to her, and yet, at the same time, it was as though she’d never left.  Kagome stood there, wondering if it would be easier to turn her heel and leave, never come back, never see the pain she caused her parents, but part of her was too afraid to wonder what she’d feel if she never did this.  She walked around the shrine until she felt ready enough to walk to the door and knock.  A woman’s voice, followed by the shuffling of feet came to her ears, and Kagome held her breath until her mother opened the door.

Her face went from greeting, to questioning, to recognition, and finally shock.  All the blood drained from her face as she said, ÒK-Kagome?Ó

Before she could stop herself, and not knowing what she should say or how she should act after so long, Kagome flung herself into the older woman’s arms, crying and listening to her mother’s confused and happy sobs.  How long had they stayed there, crying by the door?  Then Kagome felt someone else hold her from behind.  It was her father, and he was crying too.

ÒWhere have you been?  YouÉyou were gone for almost a year, no word, no letters, no calls, nothingÉI thoughtÉI thoughtÉÓ Her mother cried as she held Kagome close.

ÒMom.Ó  Kagome sobbed.

Several minutes later, Kagome found herself in the kitchen.  Her father and mother sat across from her at the table.  They didn’t talk, just stared at each other, searching for the rights questions.  And then finally Kagome asked where her brother and grandfather were.

ÒSouta’s still at cram school.  Grandfather is asleep.Ó  Her father answered.

ÒI see.Ó

ÒAre you hungry Kagome?Ó  Her mother asked, rising suddenly.  She fidgeted and then began walking around the kitchen, talking more to herself then to her daughter.  ÒI could make your favorites if you-Ó

ÒSuzuna.Ó  Kagome’s father interrupted.

ÒWhat is it Hiro?Ó

Hiro stood and guided Suzuna back to her chair.  He shook his head and then faced Kagome and the moment his questioning gaze fell upon her, Kagome wanted to cry again.  If only she were still human.

ÒKagomeÉwhere have you been all this time?  We had the police look all over.  They checked your university, your apartment.  There was no sign of a struggle, and no one from your school knew where you were.  And your friends were so worried about you.  It was like you just disappeared.Ó

ÒI guess that’s the closest thing to what actually happened.Ó  Kagome replied.

ÒDidÉdid you run away?Ó  Suzuna said suddenly.  ÒWere you stressed from school?  OrÉor something t-terrible happened and you-Ó

ÒNo, no Mom, I didn’t run away.Ó  Kagome said hastily before her mother could break into tears.

ÒYou seemed so sad, so resigned, when you visited the last time before you disappeared.  Kagome, please, tell me the truth.  Tell me everything.Ó

Kagome took a deep breath.  ÒThis may all be hard to believe.Ó

ÒDid you leave because you eloped with someone?Ó
Kagome looked up to meet her father’s accusatory expression.  Slowly, she shook her head.  ÒI didn’t elope.Ó

ÒKagomeÉÓ

ÒI swear.  I didn’t.  What really happened, why I disappeared, it’s so hard to explain, even unbelievable.  Please, Mom, Dad, if you do want to listen to what I have to say, wait until I’m finished before you say anything.Ó

Her parents nodded.   So she told them about Inuyasha, what he was and when he fed from her the first time.  She told them how he developed an addiction to her blood and how the family took her away for his safety.  She explained that the decision to leave wasn’t hers, and that the family treated her nicely.  She told them about the war and how she became a nightwalker.  Finally, she told them that the king was defeated, that the danger had passed and that she was free, no longer bound by Inuyasha and his family and the decisions they made for her.  What she did not tell them was that her first meeting with Inuyasha was in her bedroom, and that she was his mate.

ÒBut, I’m still apart of their family.Ó  Kagome felt lightheaded.  She stared at her parents, waiting for what they would say.  Her father’s face was unreadable.  He simply stared at her without saying anything.  Her mother, on the other hand, was as white as a sheet.

ÒThis man, Narek, is he still alive?Ó

Kagome saw the panic on her mother’s face, and her heart broke.  ÒNo.  He died with the king.Ó

Suzuna took a deep breath.  ÒAnd, you said you were a, um, nightwalker.  Kagome, maybe you should go see a therapist.  You must have been through a lotÉafter your kidnapping, maybe they could help.Ó

Kagome shook her head.  ÒNo, Mama, I’m not lying about this.Ó

Kagome stood and walked to her mother’s, seat, took her mother’s hand and brought her to a stand.  ÒLook.Ó  Kagome opened her mouth, showing her mother the elongated canines.  Suzuna blinked at the teeth and then she said, ÒHave you been to the dentist.Ó

Kagome gave a pleading look to her father.  He stood.  ÒAll right, say you are a nightwalker.  How does it affect you, affect us?Ó

ÒI can’t go out during the day anymore.  I also don’t eat anything other then raw meet and drink only water and blood.Ó

Her father shook his head.  He placed his hands on her shoulders.  ÒKagome, maybe you should go see a doctor.  I’m sure the trauma of being kidnapped-Ó

Kagome stepped out of his gentle hold.  ÒDad, please.Ó

Her father looked at her with sympathy in his eyes.  ÒSweetheart, I’m so happy you’re home again, but you really need help.Ó

ÒNo!Ó  Kagome huffed in exasperation.  ÒI’m telling you the truth, please listen.Ó

ÒKagome, you can’t be anything other then human.  You look like one to me.  I don’t know what your kidnapper did to you, but we can-Ó

Kagome sighed.  ÒI’ll prove it to you.Ó

She took her parents hands and led them both outside the house.  They stood behind the shrine.  The sun had finally set and it was a windy autumn evening.  Kagome lit an electric lantern her father kept outside to illuminate the back yard.  She stood in the middle of the yard and faced her parents.

ÒDon’t blink.Ó  She said, and in an instant, she disappeared right in front of her parents’ eyes.

ÒKagome!Ó  Hiro and Suzuna shouted in shock.

A second later, something appeared in the backyard.  It was large and round and someone was holding it up.  It was a car and Kagome was underneath it.

ÒOh god!Ó  Suzuna cried.

Kagome gently put the vehicle down and faced her shivering parents.  ÒWhere did that come from?Ó  Hiro stammered.

ÒI picked it up from down the street.  Don’t worry, I’ll take it back.Ó

ÒW-what else can you do?Ó

ÒI can run really fast, I can also see other people’s memories.  I never wanted to become one of them.  It was just another choice that they made for me.Ó

Hiro nodded, finally understanding.  He led his wife inside and told Kagome to meet them in the kitchen.  When Kagome finished returning the car to its proper place, she headed back to the shrine to meet with her parents.  She could hear her mother and father’s whispered argument as she approached.

ÒBut she’s safe and she’s back home that’s all that matters.Ó

ÒSuzuna, she’s telling us she’s not human anymore and that she’s apart of some supernatural family.  How do we deal with this? How do we tell Souta?  And what about Father: he’s been bedridden for months because of Kagome’s disappearance.  We can’t tell him the truth.Ó

ÒThen we won’t.  And what does it matter whether she’s human or not.  She’s still the same Kagome, I can feel it.Ó

ÒI know, and I’m happy she’s back, but I can’t believe everything she’s been through.  She even looks different.  How do we return to the way things were after everything she’s been through, after she’s been gone for almost a year?Ó

ÒIt will take some getting used to, but she is our daughter.Ó

Kagome stepped into the kitchen and her parents stopped talking instantly.  She stared at the floor, unable to meet their eyes.  ÒThere’s something else I haven’t told you.Ó  Kagome began.

ÒWhat is it?Ó  Hiro said.

Kagome looked up at him with tears in her eyes.  ÒIt’s just thatÉÓ She shivered.  Telling her parents that she was a nightwalker had already mixed them up.  How could she tell them that she was practically married and to the man that kidnapped her no less?  In fact, how could they accept any of what she said?  How could she go back to her normal life?  Was it hopeless to come here and see her parents?  Would her friends or teachers think something was strange when she only went out at night?  How would normal humans act around her now that she was a nightwalker?  Was the fact that she was a nightwalker going to close the door on any king of normalcy she could have, and was it going to tear her away from her real family forever?

Kagome covered her eyes.  She was too afraid to tell them the truth.  Then her mother came forward and put her arms around her.  ÒKagome, I don’t care if you’re human or not.  The last year has been heartbreaking for me.  As long as you are safe and happy, that’s all that matters.  You’re home now.Ó

Kagome sobbed.  ÒBut-Ó

Then her father came and held her too.  ÒWhat is it Kagome?Ó

Kagome looked at her mother.  Suzuna nodded, understanding.  ÒHiro, can you leave the room for a moment.Ó

When her father had left, Kagome sat down in front of her mother and told her about Inuyasha.  When Kagome finished, she looked at her mother.  She didn’t know what her mother would say.  Her family was very traditional, and though nightwalkers didn’t believe in marriage, her mother and father surely did.

Finally her mother spoke, and Kagome flinched, bracing herself.

ÒDo you love him?Ó

Kagome stared at the tablecloth.  She looked back up at her mother and opened her mouth to say something but then looked back at the table.  Did she?  It was a question she’d been asking herself ever since she became his mate.  She didn’t regret doing it to save his life, but just what was her relationship with Inuyasha?

ÒI don’t know.Ó  Kagome finally answered truthfully.  ÒI’ve never been in love before.  I mean I did like my boyfriends in the past, but I don’t know if I ever really fell in love before.  After everything he put me through, I don’t know how I should feel.  He’s not really a bad person, and I do care about him, but I don’t know if I’m ready to think we’re anything more then friends or partners.Ó

ÒKagome, are you happy with him?Ó

ÒWe both promised each other that we would work something out, that we would be good mates to each other.  I think that’s all we could do for now.Ó  And maybe with time, they could be something more, Kagome thought.

ÒDon’t tell Dad.  I don’t think he can handle it yet.Ó

ÒOkay.  By the way Kagome, are you wearing hair extensions?Ó

Kagome smiled.  Her mother was wonderful, and she knew just when to change the subject.  ÒNo, it’s real.  My hair really grew out when I became a nightwalker.Ó

ÒAnd you’re chest?Ó

ÒThey’re not breast-implants.  I gained a little weight.Ó

ÒI don’t know what it is, but you look the same, and yet slightly different, more elegant, maybe.Ó

ÒWell nightwalkers are supposed to be attractive to humans.Ó

ÒSo when you become a nightwalker, exactly what changes?Ó

For the rest of the night, Kagome answered her parent’s questions.  When her brother came home, she cried with him when he saw her, but she didn’t tell him that she was a nightwalker.  She promised her parents that they’d take it one step at a time, and finally, when all the tears had been spent, when all explanations were out of the way, and when all the laughter had died down, Kagome found herself in her old bedroom.  She stayed with her mother until three in the morning talking and catching up, and then when her family was asleep, Kagome look and walked around her old room.

In the year she was gone, nothing had changed.  She wondered if she could rent an apartment again.  Kagome went to the window, looking out the shrine.  Outside stood a tree that was said to be a thousand years old.  Her grandfather had told her all kinds of stories about how demons fought humans under that tree.  Kagome smiled at the irony; to think the stories could have been true.  She opened the window and let the cool air flood her room before she turned off the lights.

The wind carried a sweet, sugary scent into her room and Kagome took in a long inhale.  Then the sent of a nightwalker came into her nose and Kagome spun around in shock.

ÒDid you have a happy reunion?Ó

Though the room was dark, Kagome could see the nightwalker clearly.  She sat on the windowsill, looking at Kagome with red eyes, smiling.  Kagome heart raced.  Not here, not in her parents’ house.

ÒWho are you?Ó  Kagome hissed in a low voice.

ÒMy, you sure are vicious.Ó  The nightwalker said as she slid off the sill to lean against the wall casually.  ÒYou can relax.  I’m not here to fight.  I just want to talk.Ó

But Kagome didn’t unclench her fists.  ÒYou didn’t answer my question.Ó

The nightwalker smiled.  ÒYou want to know who I am?  I think you already know don’t you?  After all, you should have seen me before.Ó

Kagome narrowed her eyes and took a closer look.  She looked like a child, but there was something familiar about her presence, and she was right: Kagome had seen her before, in Narek’s memories. Lucy.

ÒWhat do you want?Ó

ÒNothing.  I’ve come here to speak with you, that’s all.  I promise no harm will come to your human family.Ó

ÒFine. Then talk.Ó

Lucy sighed.  ÒYou’re a wary one aren’t you?  I suppose that’s to be expected.  All right, then I’ll cut to the chase.Ó

Lucy crossed the room and stood in front of Kagome.  ÒI’m here because I want something from you.Ó

ÒAnd what’s that?Ó

ÒNarek’s memories.  I want them removed from your mind.Ó

ÒAnd how do you expect me to do that?  Open my head and hand them over to you?Ó

Lucy shook her head.  ÒNo nightwalker has the right to see another’s life.  It’s an invasion of privacy and integrity.  I can seal Narek’s memories away, so that you won’t see his experiences.  You’ll still know everything you already do about who I am and what Narek did while he was working under me, but you will not see his experiences, nor will you see any of his human or nightwalker memories.Ó

ÒHow do I know that you won’t seal away my power completely?Ó

ÒWould you rather keep them then?Ó

ÒNo.Ó  Kagome glared at her.  ÒI want them gone.  I’m never going to pull someone else’s memories from them without permission again.  Don’t get me wrong though, if push comes to shove, I will use this power to defend myself.Ó

ÒAnd I won’t blame you if you do.  So do you wish for me to seal them away or not?Ó

ÒHow can I trust you?Ó

ÒI have nothing to hide.  You can even check my memories to see.Ó

Kagome didn’t have to, because the moment she questioned whether she could trust Lucy or not, Narek’s memories of Lucy flashed through her thoughts, and Kagome knew that she was a nightwalker that was driven by nothing but fairness.  ÒDo it.Ó

Lucy came close and placed her thumbs on Kagome’s temples while covering her eyes with her fingers.  ÒThis will only take a second.  Relax.Ó

Kagome closed her eyes.  A light flashed through her mind and then suddenly, Kagome began to feel like herself again.  The haze that had been affecting her lifted.  ÒBetter?Ó  Came Lucy’s voice.

ÒMuch.Ó  Kagome stepped away.

ÒWell,Ó Lucy said as she walked toward the windowsill, Òconsider this meeting to be your first appointment with me.Ó

ÒExcuse me?Ó

ÒYou’re the first fourth generation nightwalker in a thousand years.  Fourth generation nightwalkers are rare, but almost all cases inherit their creator’s powers.Ó  Lucy’s red eyes fixed on Kagome’s.  ÒAll of them.Ó

ÒWait.  I don’t understand.  I thought a nightwalker can’t create another nightwalker if they are third generation.Ó

ÒIt is true that the ability to change a human into a nightwalker thins for third generation nightwalkers like Narek.  However, that doesn’t mean that the ability is completely gone.  There is a lower chance of creating a nightwalker, but any nightwalker can turn a human, but only if they stop before at the precise moment right before the human dies.Ó

Kagome felt her blood boil.  ÒDid you put him up to it?  Did you tell him to change me?Ó

Lucy’s did not change her stoic expression.  ÒYes.  I did.Ó

Kagome came forward and placed her hands on Lucy’s throat.  Her fingers held Lucy’s neck in a firm grip, but not enough to suffocate her, not yet.  ÒWhat’s the point in attacking me if there was a chance that I wouldn’t turn into a nightwalker?  Tell me that.Ó  Kagome whispered furiously.

ÒDid your family not tell you how Inuyasha’s addiction to you would have ended?  All addictions end the same way.  Eventually, he would have needed all of your blood to sustain himself.  He would have been overcome with bloodlust, drained you dry, and killed you and himself in doing do.  Changing you was the only way you could both survive.  Now that you have nightwalker blood, his addiction to you will slowly go away the more he drinks from you.  And then he’ll go back to the way he was before.Ó

Kagome glared at her for a while and then slowly let go of Lucy’s neck.  Then she slapped her.  ÒThat doesn’t mean that I’m happy about not having a say in the decision.Ó

Lucy smiled, touching the red mark on her cheek.  ÒI’ll be keeping an eye on you.Ó  She placed a knee on the windowsill.

ÒOne last thing.Ó  Kagome said.

ÒYes.Ó

ÒHow is it that Narek and I have abilities that only natural born nightwalkers are supposed to have?Ó

ÒAh, that.  When you experience someone using a nightwalker power on you, you’re body unconsciously learns it, and the king had tortured him with that power many times, to the point that Narek found the power within himself and began to practice and master it.  And since he had the power when he bit you, you also have it how.  I suggest you get that power under control as soon as you can.  I’ll be in touch.Ó  And with that, Lucy leapt from the window, disappearing into the night.

For a while, Kagome stared at her empty window, lost in her own thoughts.

The next morning, Kagome spent the day with her family, trying to reconnect with them and find some semblance of normalcy.  Her old friends visited during the day, asking her things like where’d she’d been, and what was she going to do about school.  After a long day talking and meeting with people she hadn’t seen in almost a year, Kagome told her parents that she was going for a walk.  She walked through the town at dusk, trying to take it all in.  She was back, and she’d made a deal with the family that she could stay here and live as she would have as a human as long as she checked in with them every so often.

In the months following the king’s death, a lot had happened.  Sesshouaru had taken his role as king seriously.  With Rukiya as his newly appointed advisor, he told Kanna and her family to get the word out and round up as many nightwalker leaders.  They had to reorganize all the rogue nightwalkers and create rules.  It had been so busy and hectic for a while.  Kagome wasn’t able to speak with Sesshoumaru for a month.  When she approached him, he wasn’t too happy about her decision to return to Tokyo and live out her life, but he let her go.  ÒWe owe you as much.Ó

Kagome smiled when she remembered how quickly he agreed to let her go.  She stopped on the street when she realized that she was walking down her old neighborhood.  Kagome wondered if someone had rented out her old apartment.  She ran through all the back allies until she came to her old apartment complex.  When she went inside and knocked on the manager’s door, the landlady was shocked to see her and when Kagome asked about her old apartment, the landlady told her that no one had rented it.

ÒDo you mind if I go inside and check it out?  For old time’s sake?Ó  She asked the landlady, and was surprised when she handed her the key.

ÒGo right ahead.  By the way, your stuff was removed by your parents after your disappearance, so don’t blame me for your missing things.Ó

ÒThanks.Ó

As Kagome went up the stairs and opened the door, old memories of how she’d stayed up late at night to do nothing but study resurfaced, and she couldn’t believe how much she missed college life.  Kagome walked into her old bedroom, and instantly she remembered the night Inuyasha first came in there.  She couldn’t help but giggle.  ÒFigures.  I come back here after almost a year and he’s the first thing I think about.Ó

The memory was so vivid, that Kagome couldn’t help but giggle uncontrollably.  She wondered where Inuyasha was.  He came with her because he was still worried about her safety and he was being protective, but she had made him promise not to hover over her if there wasn’t any danger.  Did he go back to where Sesshoumaru and the family were staying?  Kagome was sure he and some of the family members would drop in from time to time to check up on her.  She smiled ruefully when she thought that Lucy was also going to visit her now and then.  She wondered if she should tell the family about her.  What would they say?  Kagome sighed and turned to leave the apartment when suddenly she heard a knock.

She turned around to see Inuyasha knocking on the glass that led to her balcony.  As she slid the door open she said, ÒWhere were you?Ó

ÒI’ve been wondering the town yesterday and today.Ó  He said as he came in.  ÒI followed your scent here.Ó

ÒI thought you went back to the family.Ó

He gave her a guilty smile.  ÒI’m kind of putting off going back to do political work.  I wanted a moment of peace without Sesshoumaru, Kagura and Rukiya giving me assignments, or listening to Claire when she complains about work.  Besides,Ó he looked at her nervously,  ÒI wanted to see if everything was okay with you and your parents.Ó

Kagopme shrugged.  ÒIt was fine.  There was a lot of crying and my parents thinking I’m crazy, but they’re adjusting.Ó

He looked away for a moment.  ÒDid you tell them everything?Ó

ÒYes, I did.  I glossed over the really dangerous parts though.Ó  Kagome wondered if she should tell him about Lucy, but she decided against it.  It didn’t seem like Lucy was going to be a threat, just a pain in the ass, and if she did tell Inuyasha about her, he was likely to be overprotective, and that’s not what she needed now.  What she needed was to get back in control of her life, stay away from the nightwalker world for a while, with the occasional visit from the family of course.

ÒI see.Ó  Inuyasha said.  ÒI’m glad things went well.Ó

ÒThanks.Ó  Kagome said.  Inuyasha smiled at her and she sensed that there was something he wanted to say.

ÒWhat’s up?Ó  She asked.

ÒAre you sure about this?  You’re going to outlive your friends and family members.  Wouldn’t it be more painful to come back here knowing that?Ó

ÒI thought about that too, but I know that I’ll regret it even more if I didn’t come back and live my life the way I wanted to.Ó

Inuyasha looked at her and saw the happiness in her eyes when she spoke about getting control over her life.  He wanted to ask her if there was room in that life for the family and for him, but he didn’t.  He wasn’t ready to ask her about their relationship, where they go from here.  He was wondering what her parents thought of their union and if they disapproved, but that was something he had to deal with in the future, with Kagome.

ÒWhat’s with the face?Ó  Kagome asked.

ÒNothing.  I’m just wondering what to do now that the fighting’s over.Ó

ÒAren’t you going to help with keeping the peace with your brother?Ó

ÒAs much as I can, yeah.  But what am I going to do in my spare time?Ó

ÒWorry about meeting my parents.  My mom demanded that I introduce you one of these days.Ó

Inuyasha looked at her with wide eyes.  ÒNo.Ó

ÒWhat?Ó

ÒI ’m NOT meeting your parents.Ó

Kagome frowned.  ÒWhy not?Ó

ÒThat will be a cheerful meeting.  Here’s the guy who kidnapped your daughter for a year.Ó

ÒIf they’re going to accept that I’m mated to you, they have to at least meet you.Ó

Inuyasha thought about her father and shuddered.  ÒI’m not doing it.Ó

Kagome placed her hands on her hips.  ÒYes you are.  It’s the least you could do.Ó

Inuyasha wrinkled his nose so much, Kagome was shocked it didn’t fall off.  ÒJust forget it.  In fact, I don’t think you should have told them.Ó

ÒI can’t keep something like that from my parents.Ó

ÒWhy not?Ó

Kagome rolled her eyes.  ÒIf you were a parent, how do you think you’d feel if your daughter didn’t tell you she was practically married?Ó

ÒFirst of all, I don’t have a daughter, and secondly, what would it matter.  It’s not like you could marry a human if you weren’t mated to me.Ó

Kagome reached for his collar and tugged him down so that he eye level with her.  ÒYou. Owe. Me. Big-time.Ó

ÒOh,Ó he placed his hands on her wrists, Òand meeting your folks is going to repay my debt?Ó

ÒYes.Ó

He leaned into her face.  ÒAnd if they’re pissed off, or they don’t like me?Ó  His whispered.  Kagome felt his breath puff against her forehead.

She leaned up so that her nose touched his.  ÒAll son-in-laws have to deal with some trouble from their in-laws.  You’re not a chicken are you?Ó

He put his hands on her shoulders.  ÒI risk my life to fight a war against my father and I’m a chicken?Ó

ÒYeah, you can fight a war, but you can’t meet your mate’s parents?Ó

ÒAnd why should I?  They’re not going to be happy and you know it.Ó

Kagome’s eyes blazed.  She didn’t want her parents to meet him either, especially if he was going to act like this, but they had to meet: if she was to be with him she wanted their blessing.

ÒYou’re going to meet them,Ó Kagome looked into his eyes, Òand that’s that!Ó

Inuyasha sighed.  ÒYou’re getting a bit close aren’t you?Ó

ÒSo?  If you agreed with me in the first, place I wouldn’t have to be so rough to get my point across.Ó

ÒAnd your point is?Ó

Kagome felt his hand on her behind.  ÒInuyasha!Ó

ÒWhat?Ó

ÒYou’re hand?Ó

ÒWhat about it?Ó  His other hand found her chin and brought her so close that if she spoke their lips would touch.

ÒAre you sure they won’t kill me on sight?Ó  He said against her lips, but Kagome wasn’t fooled.  She wasn’t going to let him make her forget the subject at hand.

ÒNot if you learn to keep your mouth shut.Ó  Her breath puffed against his mouth.

ÒYou sure are something.Ó

Kagome smiled.  ÒGet used to it, because you’re stuck with me.Ó

ÒI could say the same to you.Ó

ÒJust shut up and kiss me.Ó

If there were any more doubts about how their relationship would turn out, it was whipped from their minds when they kissed because they both knew that since they were going to have a future together, they had plenty of time to figure it out.

Since the story began with Inuyasha and Kagome in her apartment, I felt it should end there.  This is the end of Nightwalker.  I stayed up until six in the morning finishing so I hoped you enjoyed this chapter and the story overall.  I hoped I answered all the questions and I hoped I made readers laugh and cry.  Thank you for reading the story and thank you for reviewing, I hope you liked it and enjoyed it!  Thank you so much!
