Rin saw blood squirted on the hard floor and heard the sound of her body clashing to the ground. Rin took her eye from the peep-hole and closed her eyes. Her eyes were filling with tears, and she could feel hiccups and sniffles riding her throat. She could hear them outside the cabinet, talking of revenge and that they would flee to another country when they killed her father. From what Rin could see, the three of them were humans, though she did not hear a third voice, she guessed he was a silent killer. Rin heard a loud car driving into the drive-way and Rin knew who it was. It made her heart stop. `No, papa, please get away!' she thought hardly. She heard the car door slam, and the front door opening. She heard her father trudge all the way to the cellar door. `Please, no!' Then the door slammed open, Rin's father was standing there with tears streaming down his face.
"Bastards!" Her father yelled.
"Feh. Now you're all alone, and nobody can help your ass out of this one. Tell me, did you enjoy banging my sister, murdering my mother and father? Yes, I did kill my sister, my own flesh. But that's because your words corrupted her! Are you ready to die, Shikon?" The third voice finally appeared, it was so cold it made Rin feel like she was being dipped into ice-water.
Rin heard her father struggling from words, then when she peeked out the peep-hole, she saw the three bandits started to close in on her father. Rin heard a sound, like a sword being unsheathed. Then, she saw her father fall onto his knees. He looked towards Rin, and his eye's rolled to the back of his head, there was a sword in his stomach. The three of them laughed rather sinisterly, and she heard them leave.
The police awoke Rin; she was sleeping for over eight hours. Rin felt her eyes and face, filled with snot and tears. She cried herself asleep, she remembered herself doing so. She climbed out of the cabinet, with help of a youkai police-man and another one handed her a blanket. From the looks of it, they had been here since last night, cleaning up the big mess. `That means they must have just found me…' Rin thought as she sat down to be examined by the medic. He said there was no really bad injuries (unless you call a scrape bad) and that Rin was still healthy. Though, Rin had been scarred for life mentally.

Rin's story was posted all over the news, and everyone knew what happened to her. The bandits had even escaped to another country. Rin didn't go to school for at least three days, but she did call her two friends', Sango and Kagome, who were worried sick. Rin felt happy that they cared so easily for her, even though they didn't even really know her. In fact, when Rin got to school for the first time after the incident, all of her new friends acted kindly to her, including cold Sesshoumaru. They all felt horrible about Rin's loss.
The next morning, she got ready for school. She had been living on her own for about eight-weeks now. Rin got her clothes on and grabbed her backpack, and then she did the usual to her hair. She then opened the door to find Sesshoumaru waiting for her. It kind of startled her at first, but she just smiled at him and they walked to school. It was silent for awhile, but Rin couldn't help but wonder…
"Sesshoumaru, why did you not bring your car?"
"It broke down."
"Oh…"
Rin had learned over the months that he wasn't talkative most of the time. Secretly, Sesshoumaru enjoyed Rin's company, though he swore to himself he'd never tell her that. All the way to school, Rin made small talk with him, he would either shake his head or nod at what she said, but there was still no emotion on his pale face. Rin frowned at him unsure of how to make him smile. But there was simply no way of reading Sesshoumaru's mind. He peered back at Rin who was walking a little slower, and Rin could have swore she saw a smile on his face for once. It made her walk a little faster to look at his face. No, it was just her imagination, or at least she thought it was.
After school, Sesshoumaru walked Rin home, and he agreed that he would stay for awhile at her new home. When they walked, Sesshoumaru had rested his hand on her back, making Rin a little nervous. She liked him, more than any guy she ever met. She had no clue why, though. He was so cold to everyone, but he seemed different towards her. He'd grown attached to Rin, unlike anyone else. When they reached Rin's house, Sesshoumaru took his hand off her back and opened the door for her. He and she sat on the couch talking. Since it was Friday, Sesshoumaru was going to stay at Rin's house for awhile and soon her other friends would arrive.
