Although I do believe I will need to get a cushion for my chair since the wood seat is rather uncomfortable. So review and be gentle, if there are any errors I apologise and please tell me where they are so I can correct them. And if you must critisize than tell me how to make it better as well. Constructive critisism only please!
Now on with the show!

CHAPTER 1
Hikari sat quietly in a chair in the corner of her chambers. That was usually the best place to be, her father could easily find her and she was only able to stay out of trouble if she sat in her room. So there she was, her book cast aside, not in the mood for reading. She turned her head to the sounds of birds happily chirping while perched on her balcony and looked pst them, down into the snow covered gardens. She would love nothing more than to run about outside, and feel the cold winds blow her hair around.
Her father had spent the better part of the past eighty-seven years trying to find someone who would take her as their mate. His position in youkai society depended on it. Unfortunately he had found no one, and she prayed to every kami that it stayed that way. What highborn youkai would want a filthy hanyou for a mate? She wasn't sure she wanted to find out.
It wasn't that she was ugly. She was actually exceptionally beautiful. Long silver hair, petit figure, and pale blue markings that curled in a vine-like curve over her jaw and cheekbones. She would say her most stunning feature was her eyes, they looked almost like crystalised water, a light blue similar to her markings. She walked as if she were floating and was very quiet in nature. But what branded her as a hanyou, her dog-like ears atop her head, removed any beauty a youkai would normally notice and appreciate.
She had been staring out the balcony window from her seat, contemplating her life as she knew it, when a servant came through her chamber doors, summoning her to her father's private study.
**********
She briefly hesitated before gently knocking on the door.
"Enter."
Hikari quietly came in and sat on her usual cushion on the left of his desk, her father engrossed in whatever letter he was reading.
He glanced up at her, his crystal white eyes cold, and his marking so much like her own if only a bit darker. "It seems we may have finally hit the luck I have aspired for."
She merely raised an eyebrow.
"It seems the lord of the western lands, our Lord Sesshoumaru. Has been in search of a mate for the past two years and has asked that I come visit and bring my daughter."
For a moment she felt confused, there had to be hordes of females vying for the position of Lady of the Western lands.
"No doubt you were at the very bottom of his list and I suppose the only reason he sent this invitation is to avoid insulting me."
'Of course,' she thought to herself, snorting in her mind, 'as if the Lord of all western Nippon cares about one Noble youkai's opinion of him whom he could easily crush.' But she merely nodded meekly in agreement with her father. Best not to incur his anger
He looked at her laconically, "you will be a good girl? Do as you're supposed to?"
Hikari pushed down the scowl that wanted to surface and responded quietly, "of course father."
He put down the letter, "than it is settled. I shall write my reply and we shall leave for the western fortress in a fortnight."
The finality of his voice told her that that was the end of their conversation and she stood, bowed, and quickly headed for the door.
"Oh and Hikari,"
She froze and turned to face him, "yes father?"
He gave her what could easily be mistaken by anyone else for a warm smile, "bring your sakura bath oils, I have heard our lord is partial to the scent of sakura blossoms."
She nodded, "of course father," bowed and hastily left the room.
She prectically flew down the halls to her chambers, with the sole intention to hide herself in her blankets on her futon on its raised dais. This was the last thing she wanted.
*********
The two weeks were spent having a seamstress make her new kimono's that would better compliment her figure, since the last ones she had had newly made were well over thirty years old, from her last visit to a potential suitor. These ones, she had to admit, were much nicer and fit much better, since she had grown a bit in height and her chest had become much fuller as she finished the youkai stages of adolescence. And she had to appreciate the fine silk the under kimono was made of, it felt almost like cream against her skin and was as light as air.
Her father had made sure that she was provided with plenty of sakura scented bath oils so that the human half of her hanyou scent would be thuroughly covered even if her ears gave it all away. Every evening he drilled her on how she should behave, how she should speak, bow, walk, sit, place her hands in her lap, and even how she was to behave in more private situations. Not that she hadn't been through this routine before many times. She had it memorised but sat obediently and quietly throughout it all. Nodding and answering dutifully when he would ask her something, as rare as that was.
So when the day came that they got into the carraige to leave for the western fortess she had to fight to keep herself from showing her reluctance to go for fear of her fathers ire. Safely tucked away in her kimono was a small doll she had made herself for the lords' human ward she had heard rumors of. She was very fond of children and hoped this little girl was in fact real and would like her enough to at least brighten her visit. The doll was made of a fine cream coloured silk, similar to the colour of skin, will real black youkai hair, given to her by her only companion, her chamber servant. The kimono it wore was orange and had embroidered with flowers all over it she had painstakingly done herself by hand. The face she had sewn on and had used real face paints for the lips, cheeks and eyes of the doll. She had even wrapped it in a cloth stuffed with a bunch of flower blooms so that the doll would smell like the flowers for a short time and much longer if they were replaced monthly and had the doll kept in it at night.
She sat rigidly next to her father for the weeklong ride. The youkai horses pulling the carraige needing no time to stop and rest and she was far to tense to sleep. Her father slept often, snoring a great deal of the time. She was glad for it, because only while he slept could she peek out the black curtains and watch the scenery rush by them as their horses cantered on.
When they reached the walls surrounding the fortress she had to keep her mouth from falling slack. The wall towered over the forest before it and had to be at least twelve metres thick. She woke er father just as he had asked her to so he could prepare himself and what he would say when Lord Sesshoumaru greeted them at the front doors of his fortress that also served as his castle. Of course, that moment did not come for another full hour as the distance between the wall and the fortress itself was much farther than either of them had anticipated. Of course her father reprimanded her for waking him so early even though she had only done precisely what he had asked.
When the carriage stopped Hikari waited till her father stepped out of the carraige before gracefully stepping out herself. She let out a small gasp when her eyes landed on the lord of the western lands. She had heard he was considered one of the most attractive male youkai in Nippon but she was not prepared for the handsome specimen before her.
They bowed while he merely nodded his head in acknowlegment.
"Welcome to the western fortress," He said in his smooth baritone voice that nearly had her swooning. Suddenly she realised it wasn't just the position of lady of the western lands that had females climbing over eachother for the position.

Well, I hope you liked the first chapter. I will diligently type the next chapter and will update tomorrow at the latest. I am also working on an Original works story called "The Young Debris" that I plan on posting who knows when, lol.
My past stories are on fanfiction.net under the username Empress_Elf. I wrote them a long time ago so they probably aren't as great as I once thought they were, lol. But if you want to see my other works you'll have to go there.
