And the winners are *drumroll*............. nobody! Because you're all mean and didn't wanna play V.V

WOW O.O 100 visits. ^_^ I'm so happy *cries*

The instrument was a piano (older versions normally known as a harpsicord), I listened to Claire de Lune by Debussy throughout the entire chapter which, if you have ever heard it, is done on a piano usually. I chose to say he is playing a black piano because I was thinking of the black baby grand piano that a friend has in their sittingroom (they're rich, obviously, they have a sittingroom, which also has a harp in it too and a pretty fireplace. I like to sit in there to read.) Although the one Sesshoumaru our lord of hotness is playing is like a Regular Grand piano, so it does take up a lot of space.
And I don't care if the piano wasn't invented till around the beginning of the 1700's, this is my fanfic so I can fudge with time! ^_^ although the persian instrument called a santur is very old and is sorta the mommy of all piano-like instruments.

Yes, I am a dork who researches nonsense in wikipedia. All hail the mighty wikipedia!!!

Now on with the show!

Review

It was only then when she actually looked at the musician did she realize it was Sesshoumaru who was playing the instrument, she made the mistake of gasping out loud in surprise instead of only in her mind.

Immediately the music stopped and the lords clawed hands remained poised over the bars, "well are you going to continue standing at the door or come in now that you've interrupted this Sesshoumaru," came a surprisingly irritated voice.

Continuing

Hikari's blood ran cold and she suddenly felt very nervous and immediately regretted not listening to her common sense to go back to her room.

"This Sesshoumaru is waiting."

Taking a deep shuddering breath, Hikari pushed the door open all the way, walking in and softly closing the door behind her. She continued forward until she was only a few feet behind Sesshoumaru.

"My lord I am sorry, I..."

"This Sesshoumaru would like to know what made a guest think she was permitted in an area that was obviously hidden and therefore obviously off-limits to everyone."

Hikari trembled slightly, she was in trouble, she knew it. She had not expected her good fortune to last as long as it did, and now Lord Sesshoumaru was angry with her, that was quite apparent. And he'd probably make her and her father leave and then her father would yell at her for invading the lords privacy and lock her in that horrid room with no windows and with no food for who knows how long to punish her.

She was unsure as how to answer in a way that would make the lord forgive her, "I... I... I couldn't sleep and I was so bored. I just wanted to explore a little and then I saw the door behind the wall hanging and I got curious..." she choked on a sob and fell to her knees, "I'm so sorry, I.. I know I shouldn't have but I was curious and.. and.. oh please don't tell father!" She began to sob uncontrollably, "he'll be so angry with me and I am so sorry! I won't do it again I promise, I.." a hand on her arm startled her.

Lord Sesshoumaru gently picked her up and placed her on the stool he had vacated before sitting back down beside her and put his much larger hand on her small one, rubbing the back with his thumb.

"Shush little one, this Sesshoumaru did not mean to upset you."

Hikari blinked, the tone in his voice could almost be described as gentle, and it startled her enough to stop her crying completely with no hiccups to speak of. "You... you won't tell father?" She asked hopefully.

He shook his head, silver hair whispering with the movement, and turned to resume playing the instrument, his hand leaving hers.

Hikari didn't know what to do. He had not dismissed her, yet he had not asked her to stay. Although she did feel a lot less distressed now that her father would not find out and therefore she would not be punished. At least not by her father, and she desperately hoped that Sesshoumaru did not intend on punishing her for her transgression.

"Your curiosity gets you into a great deal of trouble?" His voice had returned to its usual monotone, although he spoke much quieter.

She nodded while wiping the tear residue from her eyes and face, "yes my lord."

He continued to play for a little longer before speaking again. "Why do you fear you're father's anger? You are a female and he is respectable enough to know better than to strike you."

Hikari thought back to two months ago when her curiosity had last gotten her into trouble and her father had slapped her very hard and shut her in the dark windowless room for a whole fortnight with nothing to eat and only water to drink.

"Pardon me, my lord, but you know nothing of my father," she replied bitterly, her eyes downcast.

He paused in his playing to turn to look at her for a moment before giving her a "hn," and turning back to playing.

They sat in silence for a long while, until the sun began to peak over the horizon and send light through the window and onto the two of them and the strange instrument. Hikari sat next to him, her hands folded in her lap as she watched his fingers move along the bars that looked to be made of ivory and some dark wood.

"It is very beautiful."

Sesshoumaru nodded.

"What is it called?"

"A piano, it is from far west on the mainland," came his monotone reply.

"Piano," Hikari whispered with a small smile on her lips as she tried the foreign name on her toungue.

After a few moments he stood and moved behind her, reaching down and lifting her hands and placing them on the little bars before placing his fingers over hers. to her utter surprise he began to play, manipulating her fingers so that they hit the ivory bars.

"What are the black bars made of?" She asked quietly.

"The black keys are made of a wood called ebony."

"Oh." she watched his hands over hers as they moved on the same notes over and over.

"Keep playing that," he told her softly as he lifted his hands off of her own, sat back down beside her and began playing as well.

They played for another short while before he stopped, halted her playing and closed a lid over the keys, "we shall go back, you shall dress and this Sesshoumaru shall escort you to the morning meal."

Sesshoumaru stood and offered Hikari his arm as he led her out of the room and brought her to her room, giving a small kiss to her forehead before leaving to his chambers to dress for the day.

Hikari stood leaning against the closed door in her room, feeling rather flustered. He had kissed her! Okay so it wasn't a lip on lip kiss but after the moment they had shared sitting quietly and informally, in what she assumed was his private music room, the kiss to finish it all off left her feeling very warm and fuzzy inside.

Once she had collected herself she walked over to her wardrobe an opened it, suddenly at a loss as to what to wear that he would find pleasing.

***********

For the next several days Lord Sesshoumaru and her spent every early morning in his music room or in the private "secret" library. Enjoying some quiet time where they simple sat together, occasionally engaging in a short conversation but ultimately spending their time in silence. It was sort of their way of getting to know eachother. Though during the day their routine remained the same. Eating meals together, and sitting by the fire sipping tea in the evenings. Although Hikari did notice that he changed his tea to something a bit sweeter and much more tolerable for her. And now often when she played with Rin he would sit nearby and watch, Either in a chair that was so obviously placed for him in Rin's room, or on a bench out in the gardens if they were outside in nice weather.

Unfortunately her father noticed the extra attention she was given during the daytime and how Lord Sesshoumaru ALWAYS escorted her to breakfast now.

Hikari had been on her way to Sesshoumaru's office to tell him it was time for lunch and have him escort her to it. And she couldn't help but skip a little down the hall, she was happy, a rarity in itself. Life finally felt like it was almost right.

Of course her father made that come screeching to a halt, as per usual.

She had almost reached the door to Sesshoumaru's office when she heard voices, mostly her fathers. So she turned her ears toward it and stood very still near the wall trying to catch every word and surmise the damage her father would undoubtably be doing.

"You seem to be enjoying my daughters company a great deal." She could practically hear the smugness in his tone.

"Hn." Came the classic monosyllabic answer.

"She enjoys your company very much as well I might add."

"Hn."

"She has not invited you into her chambers for the evening I assume," Hikai could just imagine Sesshoumaru's expression, eyebrow customarily raised, "She is such a shy and quiet girl, I doubt she ever will."

There was some silence, obviously Sesshoumaru had nothing to say on the topic. But of course her idiot father continued on.

"I do know however that she would like to, she would very much like to. Although due to her demure nature you are probably going to have to be the one to make the first move."

"Hn," suddenly Hikari felt very nervous and tense like she had before when she had been caught exploring Sesshoumaru's private hidden rooms. She prayed the lord payed no heed to her father.

She could hear her father opening the door and she ran as quickly and as quietly as she could down the hall and around the corner whence she came before stopping, waiting till she heard her father's footsteps and then very composedly walking around the corner to head to Sesshoumaru's office. On the way she passed her father who gave her a grin and a wink before heading off to wherever he was going. She got to the door that her father had left slightly ajar and knocked lightly before coming in and giving Sesshoumaru a smile, asking him if he was ready to escort her to lunch.

So what shall happen next? Will Sesshoumaru act on the false information her father gave him?

You'll find out soon enough!

Lol, this story is only one word less than the last one... I'm probably the only person amused by that, oh well.

And congrats to sessyalltheway for guessing correctly on the instrument and using a bigger and fancier word than I did, lol.
