InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ No more, Please ❯ Chapter 6
[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Sorry this took so long. Now that the holidays are over I'm back at work with mom cleaning houses, plus the winter storms we're getting makes my joints ache. So I have less energy to write and even less time to think about what I'm going to write.
I have redone this chapter at least five times in my mind and twice on the page and finally I am satisfied. I hope you like it too. And I know Sesshy darling doesn't talk a lot but honestly he's not much of a talker to begin with and I hate going OOC in my writing. LOL It's enough of a battle to stay in Hikari's point of view at all times cause this is her story technically. But I shall try to put some more of him talking in this.
As I said, this story is in our distressed demsel's point of view so you will never know what's going on in Sesshy's mind or in Rin's or in her fathers (who I know has no name. Any suggestions for a name for him please tell me the names you think would suit him). As you can tell Hikari is developing an attraction to Sesshoumaru but we have yet to see if the feeling is mutual.
And I have never believed that Sess truly hated hanyou's, probably just his brother. Because he did take in Rin so he obviously has no real problem with humans, or it could be just cause Rin is so cute. So he just holds the regular predjudices that everyone else has in my point of view.
And I have outwitted my OCD! Mwahahahaha! lol :P so now now the chapters will be longer.... I hope.
Now that I've talked your ear off, on with the show!

"You should sparr with Lord Sesshoumaru!" Rin was practically jumping in her seat.
Hikari smiled at Rin and looked up at him, "well?"
He gave a very small smile, his lip corners moving up just slightly, "chose your blade," he gestured toward the open weapon closet.

Hikari sighed and sank lower in the hot bath, letting the warmth and the scented bath oils soothe her. She hadn't had a workout like that in a long time and told him so, which of course Sesshoumaru commented on and had told her she should practice more often to keep her skills sharp. She had been a little upset over that but then he added that it was not her fault because he doubted her father would allow her to practice due to it being unladylike. She had snorted and told him that being a lady was no fun at all. His back was to her at the time but she was sure his shoulders had shook slightly in quiet laughter, and the teasing tone in his response only confirmed it.
Hikari yawned and stretched, dozing off in her bath.
~~~~~~~
Hikair skipped into the dining hall for breakfast and skidded to a stop when she saw who was sitting at the table with her father.
"Brother! You're home!" She squealed, ran over and leapt into his lap.
He grunted as she landed and winded him slightly, he looked down at her, "Kari, you're getting a little big to be jumping into my lap like that. And it's not ladylike."
Hikari grabbed a lock of his hair and tugged playfully, "you know I don't do it when we have guests. And Papa doesn't complain when I do it."
"That's because Papa is just grateful you don't do it to him," her father muttered under his breath as he continued to read some papers that sat next to his meal.
She laughed and nuzzled her brother's neck, "I really missed you, why'd you have to leave?"
He gave her a hug and offered her a slice of meat from his plate, "Because someone has to do the patrols and father is very busy this time of year."
She huffed and snuggled against his chest, reaching for another slice when she finished the piece he had given her. They sat like that for a while, although he gave a small complaint about her eating his breakfast after he had just come back that morning from a month-long patrol.
When they left the dining hall Hikari immediately insisted on showing him the tapestry she was almost finished making in her arts room. She had just started it a month ago when he had left on patrols and it was now almost finished.
While she talked on about what he had missed at home her brother sighed unexpectedly as he hugged her shoulders, Hikari plastered to his side as usual. "Oh little Kari, how am I to find a proper mate with you attached to my hip at all times?"
She wrinkled her nose and looked up at him as they keep walking, "do you want a mate?"
He laughed, "of course I do! I am a strong, well-bred, powerful male and I will one day take fathers place as a lord serving under Lord Inu No Taisho and his son Prince Sesshoumaru, I will need a good mate to keep my home and give me a strong heir and healthy pups."
Hikari squeezed his waist tighter, "I don't like any of the ladies that come to see you."
He merely chuckled and squeezed her back.
After another moment of silence, which was unusual since she tended to talk a lot, Hikari asked him a question, "have you ever met Prince Sesshoumaru and Lord Inu No Taisho?"
Smiling her brother swung her up into his arms, laughing as she shrieked in surprise, "not so loud Kari! Not all of us can flatten our ears to block out noise like you can."
She continued to stare up at him the way that children do when they are trying to look straight through you. He soon realized she wouldn't stop staring till he answered. "Yes I met them once when I was very young. Prince Sesshoumaru is two hundred years older than me but we were both in our adolescent years at the time."
Hikari giggled and tickled behind his ear, making him flinch away growling in annoyance, which only made her laugh. "And? What was he like?"
"He was very friendly and was always wearing this big grin like he had just done something naughty."
"Like I do?!"
Her nipped her nose, "yes, now don't interrupt." He laughed as she wrinkled her nose, her eyes crossing to try and see if he left any teeth marks on her pretty skin. "He's tall and strong, much stronger than me or father, but then he is Lord Inu No Taisho's son after all, and he laughs all the time. And the ladies adore him."
Hikari squirmed in his arms and he put her down so that she could walk beside him, once again glued to his side. "What's he look like?"
He sighed at her and gave a small smile, "what is it, interrogate-your-big-brother-to-death day?" He laughed again as she gave him a scowl and a little growl for not answering that sounded like a puppy tugging on a piece of rope, or like when she pulled on the curtains when she was a pup and crawling around. "He has golden eyes and pale skin with magenta markings on his eyelids, cheeks, and a couple other places. They are shaped like lightening bolts and look like his fathers. And he has a blue crescent on his forehead like his mothers, at least that's where he said he got it from when I asked. And he has silver hair,"
"Like mine?!"
He quickly leaned down and held her tight so she couldn't dodge and gave her nose another nip, "what did I say about interrupting?"
Hikari muttered a sorry as she rubbed her abused nose. "You do need a mate so you can bite her nose instead of mine."
He merely rolled his eyes and tossed her over his shoulder. "I didn't bite you it was just a nip, don't be such a pup."
"I am not a pup," she mumbled sulkily as he ran the rest of the way to her arts room so she could show him her almost finished tapestry.
********
Hikari walked down the halls, trying to find her brother by following his scent. He would mask most of his scent and aura on purpose just so when she went looking for him it would force her to practice using her senses harder. Of course it irritated her to no end but she figured she'd play along. And she was sure she was close because his faint scent was getting stronger. She wanted him to take her to go see Temero, she hadn't been able to see him the whole time her brother was gone and had hoped she could visit him today.
That's when she heard his and her fathers voices in what was obviously an argument. She froze in the spot with her ears forward and straining to hear every word.
"Father you are being rediculous!" Her brother sounded very upset.
"I assure you I am not. You are babying her and preventing her from growing up and becoming a proper lady capable of securing a good mate." Hikari recognised her fathers voice but his tone was cold and she had never heard him use it before.
"Firstly I am not babying her, I simply intend on giving her the happy childhood I did not receive. And as for securing a good mate. She already has someone who loves her and would go to the ends of the earth for her."
"If you are referring to the commoner runt as a good mate you are sorely mistaken. He has no connections, no rank, and is not fit to tend the gardens of this castle. I will not have her mate with someone so completely below her and I absolutely will not have him tarnish our family bloodlines."
"Tarnish?!" Her brother sounded very upset now. "You want to talk about tarnishing our family bloodline when you yourself mated a human? A common farmers daughter."
"That is entirely different. Females are of no real consequence in the bloodlines, they are rarely noticed. And don't think I don't know about you and that human woman ten years ago, the only difference between you and I was that you didn't father a pup with her."
"That's my point!" He practically screamed it and Hikari had to turn her ears away slightly. "You have a hanyou daughter. A hanyou! Who in the respectable youkai society would want a hanyou as a mate? She has a chance at love and you should let her have it."
"I will not have her mate someone so far below her station! She is very pretty, much more than most youkai females, and that will help her in finding a good, full youkai, well-bred and high ranked mate."
"I would think you of all others would understand what it's like to be in love, you picked a human woman over a youkai lady that was more than willing to mate with you. Why can't you let her have a commoner over some full youkai lord who will never love her?" Her brothers voice did not sound so firm as it had before, he sounded more sad than angry.
"How long before you cannot protect her from the cruel things people whisper, the unkind terms they use when they refer to your sister, the people who would want her dead? She must be prepared to handle the cruelties of the world, she must grow up. And the things they say will only become worse if she was to mate a commoner as low as him."
"You once told me that the things they say do not matter so long as you have love. That that was the strongest and most unbreakable bond there could ever be. Was that all a lie then?" His voice had become so soft that Hikari had to move a few steps closer to hear him.
She heard a door open and her brothers footsteps on the wooden floor. Turning and running silently to her room she decided to let her brother calm down and come find her when he was in a better mood.
********
"Kari get down from there!"
She swung back so that her knees hooked on the tree branch to hang upside down. "Why?"
Her brother raised an eyebrow at her before jumping up and plucking her off the branch, tossing her over his shoulder. "Well it's kind of hard to go see Temero when you're hanging in a tree like a little bat."
She wriggled on his shoulder, "put me down then, I wanna see him! I haven't seen him since you left!"
He laughed and placed her next to him on the ground, "well then lets go. Or do you plan on prettying yourself up first?" He teased, laughing when she frowned and huffed at him and began walking ahead of him.
It didn't take them long to get to the small houses behind the market, Temero and his father were merchants and had done fairly well for themselves so their home was the easiest to find since it was the largest.
"Kari!" Tamero ran up and swung her around, kissing her and resting their foreheads together, "I've missed you. Why haven't you come to visit me?"
She smiled and gave him another kiss, "brother was away on patrols, I couldn't come. I hate being away from you."
Temero gave a grin to her brother, "would you mind just sitting around outside? There is a garden out back that you can wait in I just wanna show Kari something special."
He frowned but agreed and walked off to the garden in the back of the house while Temero led Hikari inside to show her his surprise. He led her through the halls till they came to a room that she had never been in before, it was in the back of the house on the second floor.
When they reached the door he moved in front of her and held both her hands in his own, placing a lingering kiss on them. "I made this room just for us, I even placed a special enchantment on the room so that it only lets us in." He pushed open the door and smiled when Hikari gasped in surprise and awe.
She slowly ventured into the room, looking around her. The room had a very large and very comfortable-looking futon covered in white and red silks. And small bright candles were lit throughout the room giving the deep red fabric hanging over the walls and the colourful cushions littered along the walls a warm glow and cozy feeling to the entire room.
Hikari turned around and gave him a tight hug, shyly burying her face in his haori. "I love it, it's beautiful."
She felt him kiss the top of her head and rub her back gently before pulling away, holding her hand and leading her toward the bed, "I wanted us to have someplace special to be alone in."
She blushed and followed him.
~~~~~~~~~
Hikari blinked awake and looked up at the servant that had woke her.
"I am sorry my lady but dinner will be served soon, Lord Sesshoumaru is waiting outside in the hall to escort you."
She nodded at the servant and got out of the bath, drying off and heading into her room to find something to wear in the wardrobe. Picking out a simple blue kimono covered with little stitched butterflies she quickly dressed herself with the help of the servant who had woke her.
Hikari came out of her room "I'm sorry to keep you waiting my lord, I dozed off."
Sesshoumaru merely held her arm as they began walking to the dining hall, "it is alright, you looked tired after our sparring session. This Sesshoumaru was rather impressed by your stamina."
She laughed, "so was I actually, I hadn't trained in such a long time I wondered if I would even be able to make it worth your time."
It didn't take them long to get to the dining hall and once they had her father commandeered all the conversation time with Sesshoumaru. Although Hikari noticed that he rarely gave her father more than a few words in answer while he would usually give her a full sentence or two.
Halfway through tea her father excused himself, saying he had some paperwork that had arrived earlier in the day and wished to do some of it before he retired for the night. So that left her alone with Sesshoumaru, which she didn't mind in the least. Since he had not acted on her fathers presumptuous suggestion that he should visit her chambers in the evening she had become more comfortable and felt less tense.
"Your father enjoys speaking continuously."
Hikari sighed, "you have no idea."
He chuckled softly, a sound that startled her since she had expected his usual "hn" in response.
She watched as Sesshoumaru shifted over on the cushions and made room for her, silently inviting her to sit next to him. Hikari hesitated for a moment before moving to sit next to him on the cushions, folding her legs underneath herself.
"I believe he thinks that if he talks sounding important enough it will help erase the fact that he mated a human and had a hanyou daughter."
There was a short silence before he replied, "would it have been better to have not mated the woman?"
Hikari gave him a slightly annoyed look, "and father a bastard child instead? Unlikely, it would probably have been worse if he had done so."
"Hn."
She watched him sip his tea for a while before she finished hers off and put the cup down. "Well I suppose I should go and get some rest."
Sesshoumaru stood with her, leaving his cup on the tray for the servant to clean up, and took her arm to escort her.
They walked down the halls quietly, Hikari felt that she could very much get used to this but she knew there was no chance he'd ever pick a hanyou to be his mate.
"How much longer will you and your father stay?"
Hikari looked up at him and gave a sad smile, "only another six days, we plan to leave before midwinter. Father has some business to attend to that cannot wait."
"Perhaps you could visit again when his business is dealt with. Rin will miss you."
Hikari grinned, "just Rin?"
He merely raised an eyeborw at her before looking away. "I shall miss your company as well," he answered after a moment. "Out of all the females I have met with, you are the least irritating."
She laughed, "I can easily believe that."
Hikari had expected Sesshoumaru to stop at her door to bid her goodnight but instead they passed right by it and stopped at his chamber doors. He gently kissed the back of her hand and led her inside.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;
Okay I know that over two thirds of the chapter was a flashback of her past but I thought a little more background about Hikari was needed. And it is relavent to the story and important later on to know certain things about her past anyways so this was a good way of getting the info about her out without giving it all away.
And I know I did say a swear but technically if the word is used properly as it was meant to be used then it is not a swear.
