Warning: Not much happens in this chapter. This is a filler.
A/N: Kiei means spirited and Sora means sky.
A soothing voice reached into dreams of the slumbering girl. She mumbled incoherently and rolled away from the intrusion of her dreams. “Kagome…Kagome, honey, wake up…” The woman put her hand on the girl’s shoulder and shook her lightly to wake her up. The girl shook her head and clamped her eyes shut.
“I don’ wanna get up!” The woman shook her head, smiling.
“You have to get up. We’re all going out for ‘family time’ today.” Kagome slowly opened her sleep-ridden eyes to meet with the deep, soothing blue oceans of her foster mother’s eyes. “Good morning, sleeping beauty.” She smiled lovingly down at the girl. The girl in turn grumbled and closed her eyes.
“What time is it?”
“It’s 9:00 sweetie. Breakfast is waiting for you.” She chirped happily, opening the curtains allowing the bright light to splash over the girl.
“Ahh! Okay! Okay! I’m awake!” She scrambled out of bed, rushing to grab clothes for the day.
Therefore, as Emi had previously mentioned, today was “family time” day. They were all currently present, minus Katsu who, unfortunately, had to work this weekend, at the kitchen table. Kagome was fighting to keep her eyes open due to lack of sleep as Shippou was chatting happily next to her. Miroku, sitting across from her, kept shooting her “we have to talk” looks. She nodded at him drowsily and picked at the food before her.
“Kagome, dear, do you not like my cooking?” Emi had the saddest look in her eyes. She took great pride in her cooking. Kagome’s eyes widened. She hadn’t meant to hurt Emi’s feelings.
“NO! Emi, I love your cooking, I’m just not very hungry this morning.” She quickly took a large bite of pancakes and nodded her head enthusiastically. Emi’s eyes lit up and a bright smile graced her features. She clapped her hands happily.
“Okay kids, lets hurry up, we have shopping to do, both grocery and clothes, plus the park, then we are going to the salon, now what do you two want to do?” She looked at the teenagers expectantly.
“Uhh…I guess I want to visit the pet store?” Emi smiled happily.
“Excellent idea! We could all use a good pet! Now Miroku?” He looked to be in thought a moment before responding.
“This may sound weird coming from me, but can we go to the library?” Their foster mother did indeed look shocked, but agreed none-the-less; thus, their day began.
First, they went shopping. By 11:00 they had gotten all of their grocery shopping completed and had eaten salads and pizzas at the local pizza parlor. By 12:00, they were at a nearby park, allowing Shippou to play and the three older ones to burn off their morning’s calories.
Then they had gone to the local mini-mall. Emi had allowed the kids to all buy one outfit each. Shippou got a pair of blue jeans and a camouflage shirt with a red dragon. Miroku had picked out black pants and a purple wife beater with an AC/DC button up shirt. Kagome chose bell-bottoms with pink up the sides with a white tank top that had a pink floral design and pink flip-flops. Emi allowed the children to wear their new clothes for the remainder of the “family time” day. Kagome also found the most adorable little stuffed fox and couldn’t resist buying it. It was for, “When we won’t see each other I’ll have this cute little fox to remind me of you!” Kagome had said to Shippou.
Next, they went to the salon for their monthly haircuts. The boys got trims while Emi got light brown highlights. Kagome on the other hand wanted a completely new change for herself. She already had a new home, earned a new friend, got a new little brother, and is getting a new pet; so why not get a new look? She told the woman what she wanted and had her ‘family’ wait in the waiting room for her. She wanted them to be surprised by her new appearance.
An hour of waiting went by for the family; they wanted to see their “daughter”/”sister”. She finally came out and smiled at the expressions of shock they wore. She twirled in front of them, her wavy hair flying around her. Her hair was a deep mixture of purple and red; almost a deep maroon color. It may have looked ridiculous on most, but oddly enough, it fit her well.
Now they were at the library. Emi had decided that they should visit the library before they went to the pet store, so they could then take their pets home last.
Miroku grabbed Kagome’s hand and dragged her off to a corner of the library. She looked confused but followed some, if not more, reluctantly.
“What do you want?!” She demanded putting her hands on her hips.
“You said you’d tell me everything. I want to know now.”
“Is that why you asked to come here?” He nodded and she sighed. “Fine!” Therefore, Kagome was forced into telling Miroku what happened to Inuyasha, minus what Inuyasha hadn’t told her. Miroku looked at her, shocked, and was about to speak when Emi walked up and announced cheerfully that they had to go to the pet store before it closed. The teenagers nodded dully and followed their ‘mother’.
At the pet store, Kagome ran around in awe. She loved animals. She missed her kitty, Buyo, a great deal and didn’t want to replace him, but wanted something that could keep her company like the way he had.
Shippou had found the most adorable little mouse. It was an albino one, and that automatically reminded the little kitsune of Inuyasha’s hair. Thus, he ended up naming the little guy Inuyasha Jr. Kagome laughed at the name. ‘Inuyasha would hate it if he found out.’ She giggled as Shippou stuck his finger into the cage, only to have the mouse bite him and him start to cry and run to Emi. That was when she saw something that caught her eye. She walked towards it and a smile graced her features.
“Aww! Kawaii! Emi! I found the most adorable little kitten!” She jumped up and down and squealed happily. Miroku walked over to inquire what was happening. What he saw was Kagome jumping up and down like a five year old and pointing at a small black kitten. ‘It’s just a runt. What’s so great about it?’
“Oh, Emi! Just look at him! He’s so adorable, and he has a little white star on his forehead! Can I have that one?” She nodded and Kagome gleefully ran off to tell the clerk that was what she wanted.
“Miroku, dear, have you found what you wanted?” He nodded and held up a very pretty green snake. He had no idea what kind, but he liked it none-the-less. He named his snake Sora.
“Okay good, now once Kagome gets her kitty we can go home!” Emi smiled merrily and walked out the door to wait.
Kagome fell asleep that night with a smile on her face and her kitten, Kiei, in her arms.
