Chapter 33

Last chapter. I thought I’d end it on a light happy mood. Sorry for the wait, but my summer finally hit it’s busy time. -sigh- Oh well, I thought I should update before I go on a float trip and camp.

“Kagome!” He ran as fast as his short legs would allow him to. “Kagome I missed you so much!” She caught him and swung him around in a circle.

“I love you so much sis!” She laughed and hugged him tight.

“I love you too Souta. Now, how about we spend the day with everyone?” She smiled at Sango as she walked in the house with Kohaku following behind. ‘I guess I could always make that wish a little later…’

His eyes lit up. “Everyone!? Really!? Yay!” She laughed and nodded her head. “Miroku!! Come on, what’s taking you two so long!?”

“We’re right behind you.” She screamed and jumped at Souta, knocking him over.

“Don’t do that!” She glared up at them.

She grunted as she was suddenly pulled into a run by the small child holding her hand.

“Come on Kagome! You’re so slow!” She grumbled something about annoying little kids as they all made their way to the park. A fun day, free of grown-ups- save for Sesshomaru.

She sighed in content as she laid back on the grassy hill. She was surrounded by the ones she loved. Rin, Kohaku, Souta, and Shippou were running around and playing childish games. Miroku and Sango were having their own little picnic-type-date. It was actually quite cute. Apparently Miroku had said something semi-perverted, but in a good way, for once; Sango was smiling and blushing her head off. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha were on either side of her bickering like an old married couple. ‘Man, do they ever get along? Or even agree with each other? It’s soo annoying!’ She laughed out of seemingly nowhere, causing the two demon brothers to stop and stare at her.

“Brother, you picked a weird one.” The stoic-one-with-a-stick-shoved-so-far-up-his-ass-anyone-doubted-whether-he-w ould-ever-get-it-out blinked. The younger, hanyou, brother nodded his head.

“I agree.” The miko’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.

“You mean you two actually do know how to agree!?” They looked at her in confusion, well for Sesshomaru, a sign of confusion was raising one eyebrow, but whatever.

“Yep, definitely the weird one. I think she may be crazy to boot.” The girl glowered at the youkai. She growled at him. Yes, actually growled at the inuyoukai.

Inuyasha laughed and rolled over, putting his arms around her. “Now, now, I think you’re picking up too many bad habits from people, midear.” She turned her body around, fixing her glowering glare on the hanyou and directing her growl at him as well. He smiled and kissed her nose.

“Be good, bitch.” He smirked at her cross expression.

“Inu-” He cut her off with a kiss, signaling he was only playing.

“EW! Get a room!!!” Four young voices all shouted out in unison. The miko pulled away blushing as she playfully fixed a glare at the four.

“I’ll give you to the count of ten…” They all stared wide-eyed before they took off running from the ‘intimidating’ hanyou.

“I’ll be back, have kids to play with!” He quickly kissed her on the lips before taking off at a mildly low speed; Had to give them a chance, didn’t he?

A light smile graced her features as she watched them play.

“Girl, I know you feel for my half-brother…But what exactly do you feel?” She looked down at the grassy knoll they were sitting on.

‘Does…Sesshomaru really care if Inuyasha got hurt…Hmm…This is interesting…Well, he does have a daughter…Maybe that stick up his ass is finally coming loose…Ha! As if!’

“Do you have an answer, miko?” She looked up at him. ‘How do I feel? I love him? I always have…haven’t I? He’s always been there for me…I wonder when I started thinking of him as more than a friend?’

“Girl?”

“I love him; with everything I have.” The Lord of Ice-with-stick-up-ass nodded and allowed a slight smile to appear on his face.

“Good. Betray him, and I won’t hesitate to harm you…No matter how much…Rin loves you.”

She could do nothing but stare. ‘He implied that he actually cares about Inuyasha!! Oh my god! Where’s my calendar!? I need to mark this day in history! Sesshomaru smiled, showed caring and concern, and said he’d protect his brother, whom he claimed to hate!’

“Kagome?” Both turned in the direction of the voice. Standing down at the bottom of the hill was a smiling, waving, couple. Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes at the two.

‘Isn’t that wolf the one who stole Kagome away from Inuyasha?’

“Kouga-chan! Ayame-chan! What are you two doing here?” She smiled warmly at the pair. They really did make a great couple. Kouga with his arrogant ways, wandering eyes, love of fighting, and Ayame’s fiery ways to keep him under control.

“We were actually on a date.” Ayame smiled brightly at Kagome, knowing they were once again friends.

“Aww, I’m so glad you two worked things out!”

“Me too, Kagome-chan.” Kagome stood up, brushing herself off, and walked down to the two. She threw her arms around her friend and hugged her tightly. Then she turned to Kouga. She pulled him into a hug as well; nothing intimate, just one to show they were still friends, no matter what.

“Don’t be strangers you two! And I want an invitation to the wedding.” They exchanged brilliant smiles as the demon on the hill stared down in thought.

After the couple had left and the miko was once again laying on the grassy knoll the hanyou crawled his way up. He had four children hanging off of him; Rin, his back; Souta, his right leg; Kohaku, his left arm; Shippou, his head.

She couldn’t help but suppress a laugh. They just looked so kawaii! How she wished right now that she could draw so that she could make a cute chibi picture of the scene.

The sun was starting to set when Sango and Miroku finally made their way back to the rest of the group.

“Dinner with Emi and Katsu?” Kagome suggested. Everyone nodded in agreement.

Kagome sighed, at ease. Dinner with everyone she loved had been the perfect ending to the best day of her life, so far. Now she only had a couple of things left to do. Quietly she crept to the living room, where she knew Emi and Katsu would be.

“Hello dear, what are you doing up so late?” She sat down next to the woman and smiled kindly.

“I’ve made my decision…I want to adopt Shippou. I know I can’t do anything legally until I turn 18 and I will wait until then…But I love the little guy, and I couldn’t bare to lose him after I left here. So, that’s my final decision.” She took a deep breath and suddenly found the floor interesting.

“We’ll tell the boy in the morning.” Kagome smiled, pure happiness radiating off of her. She had lost both of her parents at young ages at the boy had, and she felt it was her duty to take care of him from here-out. ‘Don’t worry Shippou, I’ll never leave you.’ The full grief of her mother’s death resurfaced once more. As she had before, she suppressed the emotion and allowed the over-whelming joy to fill her. She would be strong. She wouldn’t allow her grief to swallow her in it’s void.

“Thank you, goodnight Emi, Katsu.” She hugged each one, giving them kisses on the cheeks.

‘One more thing…the Jewel.’ She made her way to the room she shared with the two boys. She sat on her bed and nearly fell back off when she saw a pair of eyes looking in her window.

Hastily she ran over and opened it glaring at the intruder. “Inuyasha, you scared the shit out of me! Don’t do things like that!” She gently scolded him.

“Sorry…” He looked sheepishly at the floor. “I missed you…” Her skipped fluttered. Her boyfriend came in the middle of the night, to sneak in her room, because he missed her. How cute!! She grabbed his hand and lead him to the bed. He leant against the headboard with her comfortably on his lap.

‘The Jewel will have to wait until he falls asleep.’ She loved the feeling of being in his arms.

He breathed in her calming scent before speaking the words he had longed to say for a while now.

“Kagome…Will you marry me, and become my mate?” Her eyes widened in shock and she couldn’t think any coherent thoughts.

“I-I don’t m-mean anyt-time soon or anyt-thin’!” He took her lack of words as a no. His ears flattened to his head at the thought of being rejected.

“You dumbass! Of course I’ll marry you! I just wasn’t expecting it!” His ears instantly perked up in relief. She turned around, crashing her lips on his; before turning around again and sighing contently in his arms. He tightened his grasp around her as he slowly drifted off to the realm of dreams.

She couldn’t stop the overwhelming emotion of happiness that filled her heart. She was ecstatic. She closed her eyes, prepared for sleep to overcome her, for dreams of bliss.

‘I wish that everyone I love could have the thing they want most, to make them as happy as I am right now.’ Was her last rational thought before she fell to dreams of her life with Inuyasha.

Slowly the jewel faded away as it worked its magic.

Miroku; he wanted to find the love of his life and spend the rest of his life with her, he already found her, Sango, now he had the courage he needed to ask her to be with him for the rest of their lives.

Shippou; he wanted to have loving parents, he would have them. Once Kagome and Inuyasha married, they could legally adopt Shippou as a couple.

Emi; she wanted to be able to have a child of her own, it would happen.

Katsu; he wanted to be able to have a better job, so he wouldn’t have to work as much, just to make money to keep his family going; it would be done, he would get a major promotion in the morning.

Kouga; he wanted for Kagome to be able to forget her sorrows and live on her life in happiness, it was done.

Ayame; she wanted Kouga to be able to move on from Kagome and finally show her, his betrothed, the attention she deserved, done.

Sango; she wanted to be able to save enough money to buy a real house, and support Kohaku and Souta better as she had promised. She would suddenly come into a ‘lost’ saving account her parents had left for her and Kohaku (a generously sized one, too).

Kohaku; he wanted his sister to be happy and not have to be grown up so soon. She would feel more a ease once she hit the money.

Souta; he wanted to grow up to be like his hero, he would grow up to be a mean, but caring, swearing machine.

Sesshomaru; he wanted to be able to find a suitable mate, and mother for his daughter. Oh, he would. And he would also get a new daughter in the process, with a few more pups of their own.

Rin; She wanted Souta to realize her childish crush on him. He would and in the future they would make a very adorable couple!

Her mother, father, grandfather, and Kikyou; may their souls rest in peace.

Inuyasha; he wanted to be able to erase Kagome’s thoughts of a nonexistent fairy tale, and for her to have the fairy tale ending she always dreamed of.

The end. So, did it suck to royally? I hope not. PLEASE review! This was the last chapter, no prologue, no sequel.

And my pen name had to be changed, due to Fan Fiction’s new rule-thingy. It was over 30 characters. How sad, I loved my name.

I would like to thank those who reviewed (whether good or bad) through the duration of the story.
